"Is it what you feel for Jacob?" Irene asked.
"I don't know..." Aileen muttered. "I feel... drawn to him. I want to know him but..."
"You're scared." Irene softly smiled.
After all, Aileen was still a teenager. She was seventeen. Irene was almost sure that Jacob was, and would ever be, Aileen's first love. And she was right. It was all knew to Aileen. She never experienced love before. Crushes but never actual love. And the fact that shifters tried to kill her wasn't helping. What if Jacob hates her? What if he doesn't want to have anything to do with her?
"Yeah..." Aileen quietly admitted. That was why she acted so cold with Jacob. She didn't want to get hurt, so she pushed him away with her cold behavior.
"You know, if a fight break off with the Volturi, there are chances people of our party will die. You should go for it and at least talk to him once."
Aileen said nothing. She knew Irene what Irene meant. There was a chance Jacob, or even herself dies in the battle. Aileen should at least try to know him because she may have less time that she even thinks off.
"Then you should too, you know." Aileen finally said. Irene frowned.
"What do you mean?"
"Talk to Edward." Aileen said. Irene looked away. Could she really? Could she face him? What would be his reaction? She told him she would stay but actually left. She betrayed him.
"Since we arrived, he keeps looking at you." Aileen told. Irene looked at her, quite surprised. "It's obvious he wants to talk to you but there was always something."
Edward wanted to talk to her. This simple information made Irene's heart burst with joy. Should she go to him? Was it that simple?
After their conversation, the two vampires headed to the Cullens. The journey to there was short. Tony, Bella and Renesmee were already there. Even Jacob and Seth.
Irene and Aileen walked up the front steps and entered the house, heading to the living room where the family was. Renesmee in Tony's arms who was standing next to Bella and near the couch. Carlisle was sat on the couch, an arm around Esmee's shoulder. In front of him, on the other couch, was sutting Emmett and Rosalie. Seth and Jacob were by the picture window. Edward, he, was sat at the piano. Irene avoided his eyes and stood by the drawers with Aileen.
"I've explored the city, by the way." Aileen told Irene. "It's really lovely."
"Who knows, you might decide to stay after all that is settled." Emmett goofyly said.
"I don't know, it's your territory."
"We don't mind another member." Carlisle smiled. Aileen was touched by their kindness. They just met her yet they were already ready to welcome her. They were so sympathetic, so warm. They reminded her to her family, back in Scotland.
"The Cullens are the best people you could stay with. You're lucky to have find such a coven in such a short amount of time." Irene said.
"What do you mean?" Rosalie asked.
"I'm a year old vampire. I was turned last year." Aileen said. The Cullens and shifters seemed quite surprised. "Bad things happen sometimes in clubs. I went out one night, drank too much and next time I knew I was dead and undead." She chuckled.
Aileen had learnt to laugh of what had happened to her. She'd rather laugh about it than cry. What else could she do anyway? She couldn't change what had happened and what she became that night. She would be a vampire for the rest if the eternity.
