Chapter 7

                                    

                                          
It took Cassandra and Varian about 15 minutes to get back to Corona. And obviously... Cassandra and Fidella won the race, again. Varian coming in a tight second place not far behind.
                          
"Not bad Varian, but I still won." Cassandra said with a chuckle as she slowed Fidella down.
                          
"Of course you did, your Cassandra! You always win." Varian chuckled as he did the same for Max.
                          
"I wouldn't say always but... Most of the time I win." Cassandra said with a smile.
                          
"Come on. I have another surprise for you." Varian said as he got off of Max and put him back in his stable.
                          
"Varian, you really don't have to, you've already done so much." Cass said with a smile as she got off Fidella and put her in her stable next to Max.
                          
Varian just grabbed her hand and pulled her inside the castle.
                          
"Why is it so dark in here?" Cassandra asked confused.
                          
"Hm... I'm not sure." Varian said trying and failing to act as if her knew nothing about the situation.
                          
Suddenly all the lights turned on, revealing Raps, Eugene, Lance, Keira and Catalina, the entire gang was there.
                          
"Happy Birthday Varian, and welcome back Cassandra!!" They all yelled at once.
                          
"What in the-? What's going on?" Asked a very confused Cassandra.
                          
" Well... Raps and I decided to mix my birthday party into a welcoming back party for you as well. Do you like it?" Varian explained and asked.
                          
"I, I love it... I just... You two did all of this yourselves?" Cassandra said, lost for words.
                          
"Well...we had a bit of help." Rapunzel said gesturing to the gang. "We just thought, since you've been so busy lately and you've done so much for us already..." Rapunzel said before Cassandra cut in.
                          
"Thank you... All of you." Cass said with a wide smile.
                          
"Your welcome Cassie, you deserve it." Varian said with a smile.
                          
"Alright, alright, that's enough of all these emotional and loving speeches, let's get this party started!!" Cassandra a said as the lights turned off and coloured lights went on, everyone was enjoying the party. But Cassandra wasn't sure what to do. She's never really had a party thrown for her. And plus, this was also Varian birthday party, so she didn't want to steal any spotlight for him. So she sat at a table eating some party food.
                          
"Care to dance m'lady?" Asked Varian as he walked over to the table Cassandra was at holding his hand out with a smile.
                          
Cass chuckled and smiled back taking his hand and standing up from the chair.
"Sure, why not." She said as Varian led her to the dance floor.
                          
"But I warn you, dancing isn't one of my best specialties." She chuckled. Varian just smiled and placed one of her hands on his shoulders and the other in his hand, whilst he put his other hand on her waist.
                          
"Just follow my lead and you'll do great." He said with a smile as he slowly began to dance.
                          
Cassandra caught on quickly and soon enough Varian and Cassandra were dancing gracefully with each other.
                          
"I... I'm doing it!" Cassandra said as she looked down at her feet and then back up at Varian with a smile.
                          
Varian smiled back at her. "See, I told you that you'd be able to do it, your a natural."
                          
They danced the night away, enjoying the party foods, laughing with each other.
                          
Cassandra laughing at Eugene falling into the punch bowl.
                          
Cassandra telling stories of her journey so far to the younger ones.
                          
Eugene and Lance doing a karaoke which made everyone laugh and smile.
                          
Then, it was time for everyone to go back to their rooms, Lance and the girls were the first to head up.
                          
A few of the maids and the guards went to bed, or were away to get ready for their night shifts.
                          
Then Rapunzel and Eugene put the twins to bed and came back to help clean as much of the party up as possible before turning in.
                          
And then a couple others went to bed one by one after helping Cass and Varian tidy. Soon enough Varian and Cassandra decided to head up to bed, Cassandra told Varian that he could just head to his room, but he insisted that he walk her to her room.
                          
"Some party, huh? You enjoy yourself?" Varian asked tiredly.
                          
Cassandra let out a small yawn and smiled.
                          
"Yea, how about you, did you enjoy yourself?" She asked.
                          
"I really did Cassie, I'm just exhausted now." He said with a tired sigh.
                          
"I told you that you could just head to your room, you didn't need to walk me to mine." Cassandra said with a chuckle.
                          
"I know, but it's the gentlemanly thing to." He explained.
                          
Cassandra chuckled softly and smiled.
"Your certainly not a little kid anymore, that's for sure."
                          
Cassandra and Varian exchanged some small talk until they reached Cassandra's room.
                          
"I enjoyed myself today, thank you Varian." Cass said as she opened her door.
                          
"Anytime Cassie." Varian said with a smile.
                          
"Goodnight Varian." Cass said with a smile.
                          
"uh, wait!" Varian said quickly.
                          
"What is it?" Cass asked.
                          
"nothing, I just..." Varian sighed and quickly turned his head up and pressed his lips against Cassandra's.
                          
Cassandra was surprised at first, but then settled into the kiss and wrapped her arms around him.
                          
( I apologise for this being later than usual, I'm just really busy at my mums, whereas when I'm at my dads I have a lot of spare time. Anyway, there will probably be one more chapter for this book, then I'll start the sequel for this, bye for now! I hope you enjoyed!!)
