they were sitting down now when all of the sudden will stands up from his seat. they look up at him confusedly and y/n noticed the lights were flickering. they all stood up as well, standing in a circle.

will touches the back of his neck, "he's here."

they all rush past the receptionist.

"hey, hey, hey! two at a time!" she scolds but they ignore her.

max repeatedly presses the button for the elevator but it doesn't come down as quickly as they wanted it to.

"stairs," mike says, seeing it was a more faster option.

they all follow him to the stairs, running over to wherever jonathan and nancy were. they find jonathan trying to break down a door to the room. el opens the door with her powers.

nancy was on the floor with the mind flayer hovering over her. it turns around and lets out a loud screech.

"jesus!" mike exclaimed.

"what the f-"

the mind flayer roars and approaches them before el yells, throwing it at the wall. yelling, she moves her hand towards the other side making it hit the wall again. with another yell, she raises her hand up as the mind flayer hits the ceiling, shrieking. then finally, with yet another yell, she raises it down to the floor. snarling, the mind flayer slowly gets up. with one final yell, el raises both hands sending it out of the window.

"nancy!" jonathan cried, running to nancy who was cowering in the corner of the room.

the kids quickly ran out of the hospital as the two closely follow. they stop at the front where we see the mind flayer, now dissolved into a clump of who knows what, going down the sewer as it leaves some bones.

"it can't be good for her to be in there for this long," mike complained.

"mike, you need to relax," max assured.

"what if she gets brain damage or something?" he said worriedly.

"oh, shit. is that like a real thing?" lucas asks.

"of course not, he's exaggerating," y/n rolled her eyes.

"exactly, he made it up," max agreed. "mike doesn't know what the hell he's talking about."

"oh, and you two do?" he retorts.

"no, we..."

they continued to bicker and argue, mostly max and mike, as nancy was on the phone. y/n sighed, already had enough with their bullshit, and stood up. she walked towards nancy and jonathan. mike and max closely follow.

"okay, can you guys settle an argument for us?" y/n requested.

"who do you think should decide el's limits?" max asked them. "mike or eleven."

"the way that you frame that is such bullshit," mike snapped.

"it's not bullshit, mike," max yelled at him. "this is your whole problem. and it's also precisely why she dumped your ass."

nancy's eyes widened, "el dumped you?"

"yes, because they're conspiring against me," mike accused, gesturing to max and y/n like a little kid. "they're corrupting her."

"no, enlightening her," y/n corrected him.

"the fact is, she's not yours. she's her own person, fully capable of making her own decisions," max argued.

"she's risking her life for no reason," mike stated.

"for no reason?" nancy intervened. "mike, the flayed are out there doing god knows what."
