So...
what the hell happened to baku today???? worry was etched into my tone and it was clear I wasn't trying to hide it

Kiri put his face in his palms and sighed.
"I'm not sure but they way he acted was sure as hell not normal.
it was like he was daydreaming, and hes never done that before."

"Exactly! With the hero training, he's learnt to be attentive and aware at all times so it's highly impossible he was daydreaming" I said while placing my head in my palms.

Kiri and I sat slouched low on the couch for a long and slow 10 minutes.
I was starting to hear crickets when suddenly out of nowhere, his quirk activated on his face. It was a habit he did way too often when he was deep in thought or when he was thinking of something important.

"well, what is it? What are you thinking about??" I asked in anticipation as I leaned closer to hear what he had to say.

Kiri then proceeded to explain how during a particularly draining hero training class a couple of weeks back, Baku had complained to him that his ears were ringing so he would like to sit out until they calm down.

I then remembered that he's been complaining about that to me too but even thought I asked him numerous times to get it checked out, he kept pushing it off by saying,
"it's temporary nerd, it's only cus of my explosions, it will go away in a couple hours"
I knew I should have poked my nose in his business more but I didn't want to get on his nerves at that time. He always seems to be annoyed after a hard class, so I've learnt to lay back.

I sat quietly for some time before a light bulb clicked in my brain. I then pulled out my phone from my pocket and started mumbling quickly under my breath
Kiri perked up at my movement and sound and looked over my shoulder to see what I was looking at.

I opened Google and typed in the sentence.

"symptoms of deafness"

My eyes searched and hovered over the screen at an alarming rate as I read the information given.

I paused at the word.

"TINNITUS"

I paused for a second before reading on.

Ringing in your ears, or tinnitus, starts in your inner ear. Most often, it is caused by damage to or the loss of sensory hair cells in the cochlea, or the inner ear. Tinnitus can present in many different ways, including sounds related to the ocean, ringing, buzzing, clicking, hissing or whooshing.

But it was the next part that caught my eye.

it can be caused by living or working around loud noises.

________

kacchan was going deaf ? Because of his quirk?
I was in shock, my phone fell from my hands and I couldn't move.

Kiri was panicking and asking me what happened, he tried shaking me but I was in far too much shock to respond.
He picked up the phone himself and ran his eyes across the screen and became stiffer and stiffer as he read on.
He squeezed my hand and looked at me, tears brimming in his eyes.

"was he really going through all this alone? With no one to help him? DOES HE EVEN KNOW WHAT HAPPENING TO HIM???" I started off as screaming but soon my thoughts gradually turned into mumbles as Kiri patted my back to calm me down.

"I think I have an idea" I said, my eyes shining

This has to help, it just has to. kiri said after I told it to him.

We're going to make this work.
FOR HIM.

We settled down in each others arms and fell asleep. Tomorrow was going to be another long day for the two of us.
