Since that night things with Lisa have been different. More open in a way, less in others.

Chaeyoung likes it, probably more than it's safe.

Other than that, though, things have stayed painfully the same. They still hung out, still kissed, still fucked. If only Chaeyoung could piece together why that bothers her so much. But she can't. She just can't think about it.

Maybe that's why she's on her small balcony -or well, it's a thin spot on her shop's fire escape, but there are flowers and a beach chair so same thing, right? In the middle of winter, in the middle of the night with no jacket on and no blanket. Not a very smart move on her part, she'll admit it, but she likes coming up here to think.

It's kind of weird, now that Chaeyoung thinks about it, how both her and Lisa's favorite thinking spots -their favorite places- are high places.

Liminal spaces.

Chaeyoung likes how everything looks small in comparison. More like how the yellow streetlights, the windows, all looked like stars in the black night, only closer, only warmer.

And that feels good against Chaeyoung's skin, like a promise, like a long-forgotten hug.

She closes her eyes and just lets herself be.

Unfortunately, as many things do, peace never lasts long.

If there was any peace in Chaeyoung's mind to begin with, with all these... thoughts of Lisa knotted together into a mess of things that leaves her brain scrambled.

She hears two loud clangs, and a voice saying, "Falling star, make a wish." before standing beside her.

Chaeyoung keeps her eyes closed, before opening them again with an exaggerated frown, "It didn't work..."

"How do you know?"

"You're still here."

Jennie rolls her eyes, letting out a sarcastic laugh, "Funny."

"Yeah, I thought so too." Chaeyoung says, letting out a laugh of her own, "How are you up here? I thought I closed the door."

"You do know you're on the fire escape, right?"

"So, you just followed me up here?" Chaeyoung presses her lips together, shaking her head, "That's very creepy, Jen."

"I couldn't find Jisoo... she's not answering any of my texts; and it seemed like you need a friend.'' Jennie shrugs.

"That makes it creepier, I hope you know that." Chaeyoung deadpans, dodging Jennie's poor attempt at a shove.

"I heard of your little..." Jennie makes a weird gesture with her hands that makes Chaeyoung smile, "Rendezvous to Snapdragon Girl's house the other day."

She didn't think Jennie would know about that night at all. Jisoo's fault, probably, she thinks.

"Why do you gotta call her that?" Chaeyoung asks, trying to stall this particular conversation for as long as she can.

"Because I forgot her name." Jennie says, matter-of-factly, smirking like the smug bastard she could be, "Also, Jisoo asked me to keep doing it in exchange of..." Chaeyoung immediately interrupts her.

''Got it, got it. I don't need to know the details.'' goddammit Jisoo, "And whatever. You know her name, use it and stop being annoying."

Jennie's smirk grows wider, leaning right into her face, just asking to be punched, "Maybe I just like Snapdragon Girl better."

"Maybe you should stop being so annoying while we're on the edge of a fire escape." Chaeyoung quips, letting her smile turn vicious.

Jennie visibly recoils from her, and a laugh escapes from Chaeyoung's lips without her meaning to, "Jeez, touchy today, aren't we?"
