When Keith discovered he had Galra blood, it was difficult. Even though there was the Blades of Mammora, he still had nightmares of him being apart of the empire that has caused so much devastation. But what really scared him was being abandoned by his family. Voltron was more than just a team, it was a family.

Keith couldn't bring himself to tell them so Shiro did it for him. Other then Allura hating him, the others were not as bothered as he thought. Coran was a little uncomfortable but he knew Galra were not completely evil because he knew them before the war. Hunk had still treated him with kindness, but he would try to see if Keith suddenly started turning purple. Pidge was interested, but she didn't really pester him. And Lance, well, he didn't make fun of Keith as of late.

It was weird. Keith wanted Lance to stop picking on him, but it also felt lonely without the Cuban. So Keith decided to talk to him. He arrived at the blue paladin's room ready to knock, when it opened revealing Lance. "Oh! Keith?! Ahem, what a-are you d-doing here?" Lance asked, surprised by Keith's sudden appearance. Keith entered Lance's room and sat on his bed, the raven-haired boy kept his gaze on the floor the entire time.

Lance closed the door and walked next to Keith taking a seat beside him. For a while neither spoke and remained silence. Lance looked at Keith, seeing something in his amethyst eyes. Keith looked at Lance and before he could say anything, "Wait." Lance placed a hand in front of Keith. "Are you okay? Like really okay. Like I know these pass couple of weeks have been hard and I know I haven't been making fun of you, but that was because I can see you're still-. Whoa."

Keith gave him a look, "What?" He asked. Lance looked away and rubbed his neck, "Um, it's-Uh. Have you looked in a mirror recently?" He says nervously. Keith gave him a confused look and shook his head no. "Oh well then, wait here." Lance got up and went to a drawer and got out a handheld mirror. He hands it to Keith and the red paladin reluctantly takes it, but when he looked at his reflection his eyes widened.

His ears. His small human ears were gone and replaced with huge, fuzzy, purple, cat-like ears. Keith didn't know what to think and threw the mirror, it shattering when it hit the wall. "Keith?" Lance reached out to him, but Keith backed away from him until his back hit a wall. This was what Keith was afraid of and after so long of keeping his emotions in check, the dam broke.

Tears were streaming down his face, he hadn't cried like this in so long. But then he felt a pair of arms wrap around him and embrace him. Keith didn't know what to think, Lance was hugging him. Shouldn't he be scared or terrified, why is Lance hugging him? But Keith couldn't think of a reason and let Lance hug him.

After a few minutes, Lance backed up but kept his hands on Keith's shoulders. Keith's eyes were bloodshot and he looked into Lance's ocean-blue ones. "Better?" Lance asked. Keith nods his head, he did feel a little better. Lance released the red boy's shoulders and sat beside him.

Despite this unforeseen transformation, Keith felt okay. But he also heard things he hadn't before, like he could hear Pidge type on her laptop, Hunk cooking in the kitchen, and even his own heartbeat. He started to get a headache and rubbed his temples. Lance saw this and comfort him, "Are you okay?" He asks. Keith looks at him, "I don't really know. I mean the others have been okay around me, but now with this," He points at his ears, "things will get even more awkward. And what about Shiro or Allura? I can hear so many things at once and I'm still trying to come to terms with my heritage!" Keith says frustrated.

He takes a deep breathe to come himself and looks up. He feels an arm wrap around his shoulders and sees Lance right next to him. The Cuban boy smiles softly at him. "Hey, it's okay. We just have to take this slow. And to be honest, you look more like a cat with those ears." He giggles. Keith couldn't help but chuckle with Lance. He then slowly leans on him, "You're right. I guess with everything going on I just try to be strong." Keith says, feeling lighter with every word.

"You're not alone. And I get it. Believe me." Lance said, a little sad. Keith picked up on it, but didn't say anything. But then he felt something rub his ear. It was gentle and nice. Keith closed his eyes while Lance continued to pet Keith's ears. But then a noise was heard, a low rumbling coming from Keith. Lance stopped petting, "Oh my God! You Purred!" He exclaimed. Keith blushed bright red and moved away, "No I Didn'!" He defended.

But Lance was smiling, "Yes you did! And it was cute!" He said. Keith grabbed a pillow and started hitting Lance, "Nope. Don't Remember, Didn't Happen!" Keith kept hitting Lance, while the blue boy just laugh. After a long while, the two lied down on the bed.

But then the door opens, "Hey Lance I made some coo-kies." Hunk looked to find Lance and Keith, only Keith had fuzzy purple ears. The two look at the yellow paladin with surprised faces, "Uh, nevermind. Oh and you look great Keith. Bye." Hunk left and the door closed.

Neither Lance nor Keith had the heart to follow him, "So now what?" Lance asked. Keith just shrugged, "Sleep." He said. Lance laughed and the two got into bed. Lance looked to find Keith already asleep, "He wasn't kidding he would be out when his head hit the pillow." He looks at one of Keith's ears and couldn't help but pet them just a little bit. "So cute." Sleep took hold and the blue and red paladins had nice dreams.
