Taehyung stared at his phone and let out a sighed.
There was no new message blinking on the screen.
Honestly, he didn't know why he had hoped for something to change.
Why did he bother texting Namjoonie hyung, when he knew there would be no response.
He was probably in his studio working on a new song or doing something to keep himself busy.
If it were just work, Taehyung wouldn't have minded. His heart wouldn't have hurt on the thought of Namjoon working on his mixtape on songs.
In fact, he would have been overjoy, and cheered his hyung, even.
But it wasn't just work.
It was 'keep distance from Taehyung', practice. And he knew it, because Namjoon hyung had been doing this for quite a while now.
Taehyung should have gotten used it by now. But he still hoped...he still wished that it would change.
It was pathetic actually, Taehyung thought.
He never saw himself as being someone hungry for attention.
But now, he was starving for Namjoon's attention.
Most times, he was busy in his own head, and only came out of him world, when someone made an effort to reach out to him.
That someone had always been Namjoonie hyung, until recently, when he started cutting down on their time together.
At first Taehyung thought, it was something he did or said that had offended his hyung. And Taehyung asked him, in hopes to clear the misunderstanding.
"Hyung? Are you angry with me?" Taehyung had asked, while seating on the chair in Namjoon's studio, while the other stretched out on the couch.
"What?" Namjoon had frowned. "Why would you say that?"
"I-I don't know." Taehyung looked away. He was scared he would see anger in those familiar eyes, if he stared for too long. "I-I just thought that maybe-"
"Taehyung-ah you think too much. Did we have a fight recently? No right?"
Taehyung shook his head, agreeing with Namjoon.
"Then, why do you think I would be angry?" his voice was gentle and soothing, and Taehyung wanted to believe there was nothing wrong. But his mind kept poking at him.
Something about Namjoon's behavior had been off, lately. He knew it. He just didn't know what it was that had affected the peace between them.
"I dunno. Y-You seem kinda off. Are you worried about something?" Taehyung asked.
"Ah -" Namjoon rubbed a finger on his chin. "Is this about, leaving you alone in the room, a couple days ago, when we had planned to watch a movie together."
Namjoon gave him a guilty smile. "Sorry Taehyung-ah. I was just so busy working on my mixtape, I completely forgot about our plans."
"Oh. Okay." Taehyung nodded, pretending to understand. "Yeah...that was kind of bothering me."
"I get it, and I'm sorry." Namjoon said. "I promise, I'll join you for a movie night once I'm done with this mixtape."
"Sure, hyung." Taehyung had given him his best smile, before slipping out of the studio.
His smile had dropped the instant he stepped away from the door.
It wasn't just about missing a simple movie night.
