"Come on Hu," Tiny called as he opened the basement door. Seeing that, the black and white dog whimpered. Laying down on the floor, he covered his head with his giant paws. Shaking his head, Tiny remarked, "I'll give you some steak." That did the trick. Barking, Hu rushed down the basement stairs. Laughing, the child flipped the light switch on and followed him.

Sitting on the concrete floor, Hu whimpered as he looked around. The basement was a terrifying place. Busy pulling stuff out of the dryer, Tiny pointed out, "It's okay Hu, there's nothing to be afraid of. See, I have the light on." Finishing getting everything out, he began putting everything he had in the washer into the dryer. Then he got the next load ready. Closing the lid to the washer, he commented, "Wow, this is actually pretty easy."

Just then, the furnace turned on.

Frightened, Hu raced up the basement stairs with his striped tail tucked firmly between his legs. Still down in the basement, Tiny stared at the furnace. It was like a monster with glowing red eyes and a thundering roar. It was truly frightening. No wonder why Hu ran for the hills. But not Tiny. He wasn't afraid anymore. Frowning, he ordered, "Shut up. You don't scare me." Just like that, the monster disappeared. It was just a furnace once again.

"I'm not scared anymore," Tiny told himself. Smiling, he picked up the basket of laundry he had gotten out of the dryer. He was about to head up the stairs with it when he saw a ladder and a handsaw. He also recalled that it was Christmas Eve today. Tomorrow was Christmas and he still didn't have a tree. Knowing what he needed to do, Tiny went up with the basket of laundry. Setting it down on the couch, he went to get his coat.
