Not having a mother is something that's never bothered Amelia before, not even on mother's day or the run-up to it when the kids at school are making cards and gifts for their mums. It's just another day that passes by without bother.

Father's day, however, was a different story. Father's day with always a special day for Amelia and Freddie they spend the entire day together, just the two of them and she always made him a card at school.

This year, of course, she can't do that and it shows in her mood on the run-up to Father's Day. Her mood is one Brian hasn't seen before, instead of being upset, she's angry and more understandable, jealous.

Her moods first changed when Miss Jenkins announced in class that at the end of the week they would be making cards for their dads.

Her mood declined even further when she got home and Brian informed her that Jimmy, Louisa and Emily would be there all weekend including Sunday night because Monday is a bank holiday and school is closed.

Brian knew that one of the big stages of grief is anger but so far for Amelia, it's been all tears, so when she came down to breakfast the next morning in a foul mood he fears this is the start of that slop.

On the Thursday before Father's day is when she hits the peak of her mood swing, she had been in class and the other children were making gifts for their dads. One of the other girls in her class asked Amelia why she wasn't making anything.

She told her the truth but one of the boys overheard the conversation and decided to tease her. Her anger boiled over and she did something to end up outside the headteacher's office.

"I can't get hold of Anita or Brian, Miss Mercury but I did get hold of your Uncle Roger he's on his way to pick you up," The woman informs her and Amelia just lowers her head. She glad they didn't get hold of Brian because he would have been furious with what she's done.

She not sure how Roger will take it but when he comes back out the headteacher's office he doesn't look happy, "Car," He orders.

"Mr Taylor," The headmistress pauses him once Amelia is outside, "Don't be too harsh on her, we know she's going throw a rough time after losing her dad and perhaps we should have realised the Father's day stuff was insensitive for her but either way, violence will not be tolerated at this school."

"Thank you it's will be sorted and I assure you it won't happen again," Roger shakes the woman's hand and follows Amelia to the car.

When Roger and Amelia get to the May home, Anita and Brian are surprised to see them considering that Amelia should be in school at the moment, "What's happened?" Brian recognises the look on Roger's face.

"Headteacher sent her home, couldn't get hold of you two so they called me," Roger informs them, "Amelia stop. Are you going to tell them or shall I?" His icy tone freezes the little girl in her tracks on the stairs.

"Tell us what? Why were you sent home, Milly?" Brian tries to keep his stern voice level and when he doesn't get an answer from her, he looks to Roger.

Roger gives the girl another minute before answering himself, "She punched a little boy in the face today, one of her classmates."

"Milly why?!" Anita asks shocked of all the things she expected him to say, that wasn't one of them. Amelia's never been a violent child.

Once again Amelia stays silent facing away from them but Brian wouldn't have, "Amelia answer us." She keeps her eyes trained on the floor, "Why would you hit another child? Your dad taught you better than that and we've taught not to fight your problems with fists. If you have a problem come to us or tell a teacher."
