Emily's POV
I was laying in bed waiting for JJ to text. For the past two nights she has managed to sneak into my bedroom without her parents noticing. A knock at the door got me standing.

"Hi." JJ  said, snacks in her hand. I moved to let her in and quietly closed the door behind her. She was the one that knew were the creaky floor boards were.

We flopped down on the bed and started talking.

"I think I'm going to tell them about us at dinner tomorrow." She said looking at me. "You want to do it before Christmas?" "Yeah. That way if anything goes wrong we can go back home." She said faking a smile. I quickly pulled her into a tight hug. "No matter what happens, I will be there."

I felt a small tear on my shoulder and pulled back the covers. "Let's sleep. We have a big day tomorrow." I said as we got under the blankets. I pulled her close and played with her hair until we were out.

"Emily, breakfast will be ready in twenty minutes."

Shit. It was Sandy at the door. I shook JJ awake and quickly replied "Alright. I'll be there."

"Huh?" JJ asked as Sandy walked away. "We overslept. How do we explain you in my room?" I asked looking down at her. "Easy. I'll get my hair wet in the shower and say I didn't want to use the main bathroom incase they needed it." I nodded. "How do you come up with these things?" I asked impressed.

"Em. We used that anytime we snuck into each others rooms at Rossi's beach house. You came up with that." She said with a chuckle. She got up and went to the shower. "Looking back, we were super obvious." I added as she wet her hair. "Yeah. Working with a bunch of profilers can be a problem."

I walked downstairs before JJ did. Sandy and Harry were sitting at the table putting down plates of food. I sat down, said good morning and grabbed a plate. JJ rushed in after I grabbed my bacon.

"Sweetie where were you? You weren't in your room." Sandy asked looking at the two of us. "I didn't want to use the hall bathroom incase it would wake you up. So I used Emily's. She is an early riser so I knew she was awake." She said nonchalant.

"Emily, you're an early riser? Me too. You can come out of your room early tomorrow. You won't wake anyone up." Harry said drinking his coffee.

I choked on my food a little. If there is one thing I am not, it is an early riser. I nodded with a smile and sent a death glare to JJ. She smirked and went back to her food.

"So today we are going to have dinner at cousin Anne's. We will be there at around 4, so be ready. Tomorrow we will wake up, do our stockings and open presents." Sandy said beaming. "Emily, we got you presents too." She said looking at me.

"You did?" I asked. I never really did presents on Christmas. For the last couple years I sat at home doing my own thing. Sandy nodded and went back to her food.

"I have to tell you something." JJ said dropping her fork. Her parents looked up as she took a deep breath. I knew what was coming.

"For almost the past 2 years Emily and I have been dating. She was the one that has protected me from Will. She's stood up for me more than anyone else. She found me in the bathtub when I tried to kill myself. If it wasn't for her I wouldn't be here. I love her." She said standing, gripping my hand.

"Please say something." She whispered at her parents. They sat silent. After a few minutes of silence, JJ ran off to her room.

"She tried to kill herself?" Sandy whispered. She didn't know that part. "Sandy, she did it after Will choked her on her living room floor. It had nothing to do with anyone but him. She felt powerless and couldn't take it. But she's okay now. She's grown." I said trying to tell Sandy it wasn't her fault. I could see the dread of possibly loosing two daughters.

"JJ is happy now. Will is gone. She is better." I said grabbing her hand. She looked me in the eyes with tears falling. "Right now she needs you to talk to her. Both of you." I added looking at the parents. They nodded and got up. Sandy pulled me along too.

"Jay?" I knocked on the door as it opened. I walked in followed by her parents. "Honey we love you. We were just surprised by what you said about the bathtub. It brought back memories. We love you no matter what, and we will always love you." Harry said sitting next to her. "Nothing will ever change that." Sandy added as the trio pulled into a tight hug.

"Emily." Sandy said waving me over. I was quickly pulled into the hug and sat with them.

Hopefully dinner will be this smooth as well.
