The Neighborhood:
The Gallery is located within the Cordyline Croft development - a modern apartment complex in the heart of St Ives. You get the best of both worlds here; ample peace and quiet, whilst also being a stone's throw from the town’s beating heart. Within ten minutes, you could be sitting on Porthminster Beach enjoying fresh seafood with a pint of local beer or wandering through the charming streets studded with independent shops.
It’s not just its picturesque appearance that makes this fishing town so popular. St Ives has one of the best food scenes in Cornwall. Beachside restaurants serve locally caught fish, and you can bask in the sun at creative cafes or enjoy Cornish ice cream on warm days. The town is also especially notable for its art, with famous artists such as Piet Mondrian and Barbara Hepworth having settled in St Ives. You can discover this for yourself at the famous Tate Gallery, Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden and The Leach Pottery (to name a few).
St Ives has two delightful beaches that are brilliant for swimming and sunbathing, however you have the whole coastline on your doorstep to explore! You can pick up the train from St Ives station (which is a short 5 minute walk) and head to Carbis Bay, the next bay over. Not only are the white sands and crystal clear waters pristine on a clear day, there’s also an amazing restaurant which serves some of the best food and drinks in the county! Those looking for a pamper can also book spa experiences too.
Gwithian Beach is a 22 minute drive and is one of Cornwall’s most beautiful beaches. Spanning over 2 miles, you can walk all the way from Hayle to Godrevy Lighthouse - which is also home to a huge colony of seals! Come visit for a relaxing beach day, to surf amongst locals or to set off on stunning walks in the countryside (the coastline is all part of the South West Coastal Path).
Avid walkers can easily pick up the coastal path from the apartment and set off in either direction! The walk to Zennor is particularly lovely and you can treat yourself to a delicious pub lunch in the garden at The Tinners Arms. Although long, you can even hop on the bus back to St Ives - these run regularly.
Getting Around:
Cornwall is always best enjoyed with a car so you can set off and explore the varied coastline! That said, the apartment's central location means you can explore much of St Ives and the local area by foot or train. The train station is a 5 minute walk away and the line runs all the way from London Paddington with only one change. You can also catch the train to Carbis Bay, which is a great ride that goes around the edge of the cliff, as well as further afield. There are also a good amount of buses servicing the surrounding area.
Private parking is provided for one vehicle only, as any more affects the use of the car park by other residents.
