This quiet light bright two double bedroom property is located on the lower ground floor of a Victorian conversion.
The apartment consists of a comfortable spacious living room with feature skylights, MODERISED kitchen with integrated appliances including dishwasher, washing machine, clothes-dryer, microwave, fridge oven & ceramic hob, toaster, kettle, cutlery, central heating etc.

There is also a TV and DVD player with miscellaneous CDs and DVDS as well as its own book collection, so you can curl up with a novel on cosy sofas after a day’s sight-seeing.

*The rental price is inclusive of all electricity and heating charges, council tax, towels, sheets and linen and also staples in the kitchen (tea, coffee, sugar, salt, pepper)*
Indeed this inclusive rate is unusual for a London apartment as most charge extra for taxes etc.
There are two compact double bedrooms with comfortable double beds. The wet room is new and it's fantastic!
The second bedroom is the bedroom I was using when the photographer came (hence slightly creased bedclothes!!) It also has a TV in this bedroom.
This room has a door leading to outside space. The outside space is small, but very useful for laundry purposes.

Bookings may begin on the afternoon of the departure date of a previous guest. However, if you have bags, you are welcome to drop them off earlier while the flat is being cleaned.

Access from Heathrow Airport couldn't be easier; take the tube directly to Gloucester Road on the Piccadilly Line, with no changes required. Takes about forty minutes. From Gatwick, the Gatwick Express leaves every fifteen minutes to Victoria station which is fifteen minutes away by cab to the flat or 3 straight tube stops to Gloucester Rd tube.

Or we have a driver who will pick you up from Heathrow. His charges are:- £48 pick up from any terminal. £38 to drop off.

Location can not be beaten (check my reviews) with just a few minutes walking distance to Natural History Museum, V&A or catch a concert at the Albert Hall home to the Proms, the world’s great classical music festival.

Most important is the closeness to the tube with West-end theaters 15 mins tube ride. It's only a 5 minute walk to Hyde Park as well as Kensington High St.

I must stress that when staying in London, location, location and location is of the utmost importance and having 3 central tube lines will get you anywhere you need to get to in London without having to change lines.

Knightsbridge is close by with the famous Harrods, it's only a 5 minutes walk to Gloucester Rd tube.

The 49 bus (3 mins walk from the flat) takes you to the new billion pound shopping complex Westfield, passing Kensington High St on the way.

There are many international restaurants and bars in the area. Quality shopping at Waitrose and nearby Sainsburys supermarkets.
Check in 4pm - checkout 10am.

We will be on hand to meet and show you how everything works in the apartment. We will happily answer your questions and fulfil you requests in any way we can and can also hire you a car and driver to take you to and from the airport if required.

Fantastic Stay
Our group of four (two couples) really enjoyed this little flat. Exactly as described in the listing: nice neighborhood, short walk to the underground station, lots of restaurant options nearby. No problems during our stay--had everything we needed, host kept us well-informed and was very responsive. Happily let us stay a few extra hours after our flight was delayed as well. I would be very happy to stay here again in the future.

Slightly quirky but unbeatable location
We had a great stay in Julie's basement flat. The check-in communication was excellent and we were allowed early entry, which was very helpful. The space itself is unfortunately a little dated and needs some money spent on it (especially the kitchen and furniture). But it was very quiet, spacious enough for four of us and the neighbourhood felt very safe with everything needed within a short walk.

We very much enjoyed our time in this flat. The bright skylights and access to the communal gardens added to the great location.

Good location, Unhelpful host
There are some good things about the place - good location - very close to Natural History museum, Kensington Gardens and Gloucester road tube. However it’s a basement flat - so can be a bit dark despite the skylights. We went in December (5 degrees) and the flat was freezing (partly because of the skylights) even with the heating on all of the time. When communicating with the host towards the end of our stay - she sent a rather shrill message saying she had noticed how much we had used the heating (and remotely then switched it all off without telling us). When we first arrived - the place was undergoing major outside renovations - lots of scaffolding and builders around. Work began at 8.30 every morning with builders looking through skylight into living and sleeping areas. On the first day they had painted railings and the front door - but no “wet paint” sign - so we got paint in all of our coats. Informing the host about the noise, builders, and ruined clothes. The host just said it was all out of her control (but admitted she knew it was going on ) and refused to enter any conversation about cleaning the coats. No responsibility for accepting the booking in the first place. After this the host was generally quite unhelpful and indifferent. It’s an OK place - good location but just dont expect any accountability or support if things dont go to plan. We would not go again.

Birthday Break
Fantastic location in easy reach of Gloucester Road tube station making travel throughout London very accessible. Natural History and Science Museums very close by as is Harrods. Numerous good restaurants within a few minutes walk of the apartment in a lovely safe and quiet area. The apartment is spacious, comfortable and very bright - quite unexpected in a basement apartment. Lots of relevant information books for London available for reference . We had a really enjoyable birthday break with our grandson here.

Perfect for our trip!
My family came in for a brief 3-day for a wedding in Chelsea. Wonderful location..walking distance from shops, restaurants, and Kensington Gardens. Ample space and laundry was a plus, as this was the middle of two week trip. Also, Julie, the property manager, answered any email inquiries very quickly

Perfect spot!
Amazing value, perfect location, and great for four adults. Very comfortable, lots of storage, plenty of supplies for cooking, and the Waitrose down the road has everything you need! Owner is great, very helpful and easily contactable in case of any issues (but of course we had none!).

very good home base for sightseeing
We stayed there for four days in late october 2017 (coming from Germany). The flat manager expected us as agreed on, showed us everything to know. The area is very nice and quiet. It's a basement flat, but all rooms have skylights that make it bright. You can't darken the skylights for sleeping, which wasn't a problem for us at late october. I would say one bed is a double and the other one is a king size (UK). All devvices and the whole equipment worked fine. There is a second flat at the basement which is to rent as well. So your neighbours will change too. We didn't hear anything from upstairs. The flat is located very close the tube station Gloucester Road (Piccadilly, Circle, District lines). Around the station you can find many places to eat and two supermarkets (a Waitrose and a small Tesco) open until 10 p.m. Julie is a very friendly landlord and answers all your questions.

Lovely apartment in really good location
We really liked this apartment. Check in easy and efficient, David explained everything we needed to know. Well equipped but a couple of things need replacing (microwave hit and miss), fridge door has no compartments so had to put everything in main part. Would stay here again, if in London and recommend it.

Great home base location!
This was a great home base for exploring London! What a perfect location! So easy to get to everything from there with public transportation. It was an easy walk to Kensington Gardens and the Natural History and Science Museums. Despite being a “basement” apartment, it was light and airy with all the skylights. The furniture was comfortable. The place was clean and everything was easy to use. We enjoyed our stay.

Good location but…
There were definitely positives and negatives to staying at this flat. The positives: the flat is in an excellent location, a 5 minute walk from Leicester Square tube station and close to Kensington high street. It’s easy walking distance to Kensington Park and Natural History Museum and the tube station gets you to other tourist attractions in less than 30 minutes. The flat is bright with high ceilings and skylights in every room. The kitchen had everything we needed and the beds were comfortable. Washer and dryer were a bonus. The negatives: although the flat has lots of skylights, there are no windows that open. We found the space to be very damp and had a hard time getting our towels to dry. The bathroom has a very large window in the shower which was covered by a mouldy roller blind. The blind was so mouldy that we didn’t want to be near it when showering. Checkout instructions were not overtly clear (be sure to read the whole check in email for check out instructions) and we accidentally left all sets of keys on the table instead of returning one of them to the lockbox. This cost us our full damage deposit.

Great rental in a wonderful neighborhood
We stayed here a few nights so we could see London before our cruise. I was thrilled with the neighborhood. We felt safe the entire time, even at night. The location was close to the subway system. And we also could walk to the Victoria and Albert Museum.

Wonderful location!
Communication with the owner was fantastic! This is a lovely neighborhood very convenient to the tube and sites in Kensington. It is small, but that was expected. Appliances worked well and it was very convenient to have a washer and dryer. The carpet could use a quick shampoo. I would recommend.

Quiet apartment in a great location
We stayed in the apartment for 3 nights and loved the location. Lively Gloucester Rd is only a few minutes walk, with plenty of shops and restaurants. Yet the apartment is in a quiet neighborhood with a beautiful garden across the street. The unit was very clean and had everything we needed. Julie was very prompt with communication and helpful without being intrusive. The beds were very comfortable and we loved hearing the rain on the skylights. Despite being a basement apartment, the skylights provided plenty of natural light. There is only one flight of stairs to navigate and we managed quite well. Thank you, Julie, for a wonderful first visit to London!

Perfect Location
We had a wonderful stay in this Kensington flat. The location can’t be beat if you want a quick walk to the tube station or to Kensington High Street, Kensington Palace, Natural History Museum or the V & A Museum. The neighborhood is very quiet and it feels quite safe walking out at night to area restaurants. The flat itself has everything you need with two bedrooms and a full bath with a nice shower. The kitchen was well appointed too. Excellent communication with the owner!

Great for family stay!
We were a family of 4 (children are 11 & 8), and this was perfect for us! It was just enough space, with great amenities. The location was perfect, a quick walk to the tube station (which has a grocery) and a lot of really good restaurants too. Julie was very responsive and we also used the driver she recommended for pickup and drop off at Heathrow, he was very friendly and helpful. I recommend both this flat as well as the driver.

Great neighborhood!
We loved the neighborhood and would stay in South Kensington again. The property worked for our family (2 boys, age 10 and 12) and my husband and I, although I think it would be more challenging if you have younger kids due to the steps and glass tables. The beds were comfortable and everything worked, the only real complaint was the furnishings/carpet/bedding are a bit dated. It was so nice to have a working kitchen and washer /dryer, and the host could not have been nicer.

About the host

Host profile image
I live in N. Ireland with my husband and have been letting property since 1976. I lived in London before I married so it's always a good excuse to come back when reletting the apartment.
I have twin girls of 33 - Claire is married and teaches A level maths. Kate is also married and is a primary school teacher. Prior to this Kate pioneered a charity in Uganda for 5 years sponsoring street children called Tomorow's Heros now renamed Freedom Heroes.

Why they chose this property

I love this property because of the location as it is just so close to everything and has a real buzz to the area.
It feels very light and airy.
I also still have friends in this area.

What makes this property unique

It is much quieter than most London flats as it's a REAR lower ground floor flat and not underneath the building. That is why it's so light because it is not in the basement as such. This can be seen in the photos.
