Do you suspect your Verizon account may have been hacked? Charges for Verizon products and services you didn’t authorize or changes made to your account information could be fraud. First ask other family members on your account if they purchased anything without your knowledge. Next, contact Verizon to report any unauthorized charges, our representatives can help you determine if you've been a victim of fraud.
Someone opened an account in my name.
This is called identity theft.
In the unfortunate event that your identity has been stolen and used to initiate unauthorized Verizon, Verizon Wireless or Fios services, we have provided the ability to file a fraud claim.
Here's what you can expect:
- Answer a few questions about yourself and the unauthorized account(s).
- Upload paperwork that supports your claim.
- Receive a call from a Verizon fraud specialist for clarification and to notify you of the status of your claim. This takes approximately 2 business days.

Someone made changes to my Verizon account.
This is called an account take over.
In the unfortunate event that your account has been taken over and used to initiate unauthorized Verizon, Verizon Wireless or Fios services, call us at 888.483.7200. We will work with you to investigate any instances of fraudulent activity.
Here's what you can expect:
You will be asked to...
- Verify your ability to access the account.
- Answer a few questions about the unauthorized line(s) or changes.
- You may be required to submit paperwork that supports your claim.
I have unauthorized credit card or bank transactions.
In order to dispute charges on a credit card or bank statement, you'll need to contact your bank directly.
I have charges for phone calls I did not make.
Questions to consider:
Could someone else have had access to your device that may have made these calls?
Did you receive charges on your bill for this activity?
After a review if you determine that the calls and charges are not yours, contact us at 888.483.7200 for further assistance.

I am getting unwanted or suspicious calls, emails or text messages.
Spam, phishing emails, texts and robocalls are on the rise. If you receive any suspicious communications from someone who says they are Verizon, we want to know about it.
I got an email that says it's from Verizon, but it looks suspicious.
To report a suspicious email claiming to be from Verizon, forward it to [email protected].
Please note, when you forward an email to our phishing inbox you will receive an automated confirmation and we will review the information you provided. We will only contact you directly if we require additional information.
I got a text message that says it’s from Verizon, but it looks suspicious
We will occasionally send text messages to our customers, for example, to notify you of an upcoming bill payment, or to send a One Time Password (OTP).
Verizon does not send text messages to:
- Ask for credit card/payment information. Never give personal or payment information to a sender of suspicious, unsolicited or unwanted text messages.
- Ask for your username, password or account PIN, social security number or other sensitive account or personal information.
Receiving a suspicious message typically will not put you at risk if you do not reply, click on links, or share any personal information. If you receive a suspicious text message claiming to be from Verizon, please forward it to us right away at S-P-A-M (7726), then delete it.
If you did click or provide personal information in response to a suspicious text message, you should contact customer support to help secure your account, and reach out to any financial institutions or other services you believe may be impacted. You can also download the My Verizon App for Android and iOS devices to access enhanced account security features and secure communications with Verizon.
