It’s very possible that Elphaba coming back for Glinda when she’s old is glindas dying hallucination since she already dreams about Elphaba opening a door and returning for her to save her and this would be the ultimate pay off of her mule stubborn insistence that Elphaba is still alive but note how my smile doesn’t falter

Ways they could still adapt Son of a Witch into a musical even though Elphaba and fiyero are both alive at the end of the wicked musical adaptation and a whole thing with their son Liir in the books is that he wasn’t certain if he was their child and they were both dead

- Elphaba and fiyero drop liir off at the monastery of saint glinda when he is a baby because they don’t want him to grow up the son of two on the run criminals. One of the nuns swears up and down she saw a pointed hat or the corner of a broom the night he was found on their doorstep. Liir is teased by other children for being the son of the wicked witch of the west, though the popular consensus is that she is dead, and he feels this overhang of her image and both resents and relates to it as a fellow outcast

- liir knows who his parents are and has a comedic I want song called “my father’s a scarecrow and my mother’s a witch” about how his dad does nothing and his mom is a nag, which would be criticized for feeling poorly aged in this modern era
