in terms of references, i wouldn't say that i saw any direct one-to-one references to utena, but you can certainly see similarities or draw parallels or areas in which they are similar. there are a lot of things that ping me and make me go, oooh, utena, but i can't say for certain if TM had utena in mind while writing. the canaan house duels (ESPECIALLY the one between cam & marta), for example, are very reminiscent of utena duelling over and over again, but i don't think that's necessarily a Reference To Utena; it's just that they have some similar Vibes.

that said. the imagery of the coffin, in particular, gives me a lot of flashbacks to utena. in tlt, harrow talks about finding alecto's corpse as a suicidal child and saying she was beautiful, saying that she wanted to live forever in case she woke up. she breaks into alecto's tomb just to see her and look upon her. harrow, despite her religious fervor, is a ninth house heretic; she breaks into the tomb that alecto was imprisoned in by a man who used her against all doctrine of the world she's been raised in. she does this despite the stories she's been told about how necessary it is that alecto stay inside her tomb.

contrast to utena:

utena, as a child, is deeply and intensely suicidal over the death of her parents. she is found by a princely man, who she then follows to find anthy himemiya, who cannot die and is in constant pain, imprisoned at the heart of the world. (this state of being is shown as being run through by swords; she also is shown in coffins in this state.) utena is told the story of Why this happened and How, how anthy took on the suffering and burdens of her brother (the prince), who frames the resultant state as anthy's "punishment for taking him away from the girls of the world", as she took on all of human hatred to protect him- i think dios literally says she sacrificed herself to save him. utena is aghast by this story and becomes determined to be anthy's prince to save her. she later does this by ripping open anthy's coffin and freeing her. like.... there are some parallels here, i think? especially with the repeated use of the coffin throughout the story.

i think another great parallel example is of mikage. mikage has spent so much time in denial (and being manipulated by those around him) that he truly doesn't remember what actually happened (which is ... not helped by ohtori being so timeweird and the lack of clarity on whether or not mikage is even like, alive. lmfao). he doesn't remember mamiya is dead, he believes anthy is mamiya, there's some compelling parallels there to harrow in HTN papering over her own memories to save herself from grief. but idk if that's not too much of a stretch.
