By this I mean, what is the most influential on your decision? E.g., for me it is the summary because I rarely pay attention to the title or stats, and only read the tags after I've liked the summary enough to want to give the fic a go.
One of my favorite Miranda Lawson conversations from ME2 is when you're in her room and you're talking about her being genetically enhanced and she very casually drops like "oh yeah well basically it means that I can't actually take credit for the things I excel at because my enhancements grant me huge advantages. Every single mistake and flaw I have is 100% owned by me though" and it all clicks because like OH! THAT'S WHY YOU'RE TERRIBLE! This is why you're being such a huge ruthless bitch! You are trapped in a mental torture chamber you made for yourself!
And if you're like me that's also the point you realize she's going to be one of your favorites
I am thinking about fan fiction writers, but anyone who writes any kind of fiction can answer. (As far as I’m aware, non-fiction is usually written in the past tense - but if I’m wrong do let me know!)
If you like, explain why in the tags!
When I was young I gathered that all serious works of fiction were written in the past tense (past tense third person to be precise) so that is what i did when I started writing. However my mind was blown by the power and immediacy of Margaret Atwood writing in the present tense so I started to experiment with it myself, and now i strongly favour it. I get the impression that past is still the most commonly used, but I’m prepared to be surprised!
Please share!
Babygirl I can use so many tenses, some of them using temporal phenomena that only used to exist yet, in the same goddamn sentence.

Did you see how they use this scene in the S6 credits?
It’s the funniest fucking thing.
NOT EVEN KING ARTHUR CAN PULL ME FROM BETWEEN THEIR LEGS🙏🙏
IDGAF if the women in my fiction are empowering or aspirational, I'm an adult, I don't need role models, I want the women in my fiction to be interesting, and if that involves being pathetic, hypocritical, amoral, or trapped in a delightfully dysfunctional relationship so be it

At work there used to be a sign on a few things that would say like "if this bubbles, run for your life" and "if you hear thumping run for cover" and "bears can and will kill you" and really in general I wish the park service was more willing to say "you are not at home, you are not at disneyland, you can die here and you can die so badly your family will have to bury an empty casket because no one will risk their own life to collect your idiot corpse."
