I love how aidairo made sure Akane is wearing his glasses in picture perfect because if he was aware that they're in a fake world then I'm sure that boy wouldn't have hesitated a second to kill Amane and Mitsuba and the arc would've been over before it started.

Akane was never in picture perfect :0

Only Mei's painted copy of him was there.

your post make me crave a fic where he is trapped in Mei's canvas world though. It really makes me wonder how his glasses would affect his experience in it.

Would you consider Hanako an antagonist? He does a lot of things throughout the manga where you can consider him an antag(like Picture perfect arc) and I've seen people even see him as a villain? What is your opinion ? :D

Yeah, I see him as far more of an antagonist/ villain-esque character than a 'good guy'.

Even if we put aside how he was playing a sympathetic antagonistic role during picture perfect and the 'rescue Aoi' arc, since it mixed nice qualities (he is trying to save nene cause he loves her so so much) and also bad qualities (his love is very selfish and he is willing to destroy the lives of other people for his goal, regardless if Nene approve of or not.) he have been shady since day one.

Let's talk about his job! His very important job as a school mystery.

We are told being a school mystery means being a shield for the Near Shore. A pillar of protection

And the mysteries are aware of that. It is their duty.

Hanako is also aware of that, he is their lider it would be weird if he wasn't aware of the importance of their roles.

And what is the first thing we see hanako do? Go out of his way to destroy yorishiros. Not a hint of doubt to be seem.

Let's go group! Yorishiro destruction time!!

Yes he said "I am destroying the yorishiros because there is a spy!" but by process of elimination (we got the flashback of every single school mystery except No.1 who are constantly shown to be agaist this yorishiro destruction plain, to the point of rewinding the whole world), Hanako is the spy.

We even got his motives recently:

Regardless if his wish is noble and he want Nene to live, his actions weakened a barrier between worlds, which can put many many people in danger (girls like Sumire used to be sacrificed to keep the worlds separated so you know is a big deal)

It can be debated that doing all that to save his love is heroic but you asked my opinion and well, that is far more of a tragic villain to me than a hero.

We could say "God is manipulating Hanako into doing this!" because that storyline is so convoluted Aidairo could throw any dumb plot twist my way and i wouldn't bat an eye (full bias disclaimer: the 'god' storyline or the 'thing that possessed tsukasa' storyline is the one that least interest me) but even if he is being manipulated... I would still consider Hanako an antagonist.

Like, take the new timeline.

This is clearly not the og amane, he was possessed and sold his soul to the house.

But it is heavily implied that it was his choices that let him here.

Regardless if the choice was selfless at the time (he seem to have been a very sweet man in Tsuchigomori's flashback), it doesn't change all the bad that he have caused AND IS CURRENTLY CAUSING the people that he killed and their families. It doesn't change that this barely human possessed murderer is who he is now. Yes he was a good guy before but he isn't anymore.

So he would be a very tragic villain but still a villain.

I don't know if someone already ask but the wip game like no. 5 'don't go don't go don't go' is so intriguing like what is it????

happy you asked Anon~

this wip is for a short story where I take a fic I already have (one where Akane take a trip through alternative universes, including a zombie apocalyptic universe where his alternative self died) and write it in the pov of survivor Teru instead of dimension hopping Akane.

Actors AU where Teru plays a handsome hero, Aoi is the cute love interest, and Akane is the evil villain. It’s supposed to be a simple series for a small studio’s debut but Akane, who is overall a good actor to work with, keeps getting this soft look in his eyes when Aoi is in the same scene as him for more than one minute and keeps failing not to look bothered when the ‘hero’ and the ‘maiden’ hold hands in his presence, which doesn’t work with his given character. And why is Teru being so cruel when he teases Akane about it? The hero is supposed to be just and kind! More than half of their banters end up improvised and the production crew wants to die.

The studio budget is too tight to keep retaking scenes or to re-cast Teru as a villain and Akane as a hero in the middle of a season, so they launch the episodes with all it unscripted changes and undertones. People noticed the villain’s ‘soft spot’ for the maiden very easily, and people eat up the ‘one-sided impossible romance’ aspect, but the most popular ship with audiences is easily the villain with the unheroic hero, in love with their banter, which had more focus than the cute civilian girl.

It got so popular the crew goes “Fuck it, we already failed at making a stereotypical story anyways, and the next episode air on pride month, so we can make the villain get hurt so the hero can carry him. We can make them bond” much to Akane’s terror. Not that he ever back out, he has the duty to fulfill his contract, and he is not a coward! He also can’t handle the ‘I am better than you’ way Teru smirk.

They don’t really have a solid idea as to how Akane gets badly hurt at first, but Aoi suggests the debut of a powerful villainess that forces the two to form a temporary alliance, offering herself for the role, since her maiden character doesn’t appear all that much. Having the new antagonist looks similar to the love interest creates spice, so the studio accept to at least try her suggestion, wondering how Akane’s inability to not swoon over Aoi would affect his performance in this scenario: It works surprisingly well, makes for a lot of drama and misunderstandings, both the villain and the hero thinking this new person is their love interest that went to the dark side.

Teru and Akane grow closer outside the set too, and Aoi is delighted to finally have an opportunity to really show her acting skills. There is a rise in popularity for their shown after the villainess debut and their little fanbase is going crazy. Forget the cute maiden! Akane and Teru are being more shipped than ever, but they are no longer crushing the competition, both the villain and the hero are paired with this manipulative, beautiful, and mysterious villainess just as much, their dynamic just as full of chemistry and angst potential.

Y’all ever notice how post-young exorcist arc Kou scratches his earring when he admits he doesn’t exorcise apparitions anymore?

Y’all ever notice that Kou was probably thinking of Hanako?
