wormtime pact time occasional infinity train or misc reblogs. i am dangerously autistic about alec ‘regent’ vasil, and also his lawyer. read my alec essays :). i like talking about worm but i have a massive backlog of asks so you will probably get faster results from a post tag or dm. can haz art credit to @miimyn

(LEGAL DISCLAIMER FOR PEOPLE UNFAMILIAR WITH THE JOKE: i dont actually hate wildbow thats just some guy. i just think its funny when people accuse you of being, quote, “a bad faith actor who hates wildbow” for breaking down the racism or homophobia or whatever in worm)

tags i use are under the cut so i dont Forget but im really bad at tagging things. so dont look right now okay. ill fix them one day okay.

originally grabbed this part because it's cool to see Isadora mention/hint at the theory of "demons ate all the matter that used to be in the spaces between stars", but honestly I think this exchange can explain why diabolism is so karmically bad?

It's difficult to articulate it concisely, but if karmic spirits are selected for viewing "existence is Right, non-existence is Wrong" then it makes complete sense that interacting with a demon in even the smallest way would be bad karma, even if you're going to bind it effectively disarm it in the long term.

the thing is that whenever someone says "pluto IS a planet" you don't know if they're actually a space fan who is prepared to love and cherish all the other bodies that would become planets if pluto was promoted again or the dumbest motherfucker on earth who thinks science should have stopped when they left 3rd grade

i have no argument as to why pluto should be a planet other than “it’s probably really sad that it isn’t a planet anymore” and i’ll stand by it god damn it

but pluto loves his new friends

My astronomy professor pointed out that Pluto went from being just another planet to being the model specimen and best known example of a whole new class of objects, and argued that that's a promotion not a demotion.

To me, Pluto is a planet for grammar reasons.

"Planet" is a noun, and "dwarf" is an adjective describing it. ("What kind of planet?" "A dwarf planet!") All dwarf planets are planets, but not all planets are dwarf planets.

Pluto is grammatically a planet.

Sadly the IAU, when defining the words "planet" and "dwarf planet", explicitly excluded that interpretation. Dwarf planets are not at all planets, according to the IAU. Having dwarf planets be a subcategory of planet was a proposed idea, and it was rejected.

I'm sorry, the IAU is trying to take on the entire adjective-noun relationship in the English language? In any language? Hold on, I must make popcorn for this epic fail.

Ask any schoolchild around the world about adjectives and offer planets and dwarf planets as examples, and they'll know what to do.

Pluto is a planet. The IAU cannot win against language itself. How amusing to even try.

they should make rip tides that are safe if they were safe they would be one of natures funnest inventions

exactly my vision is that you should be able to ride out on the riptide and then cycle back to the shore via riding the waves. like a natural and more exciting lazy river. but instead theres all that 'risk of becoming a drowning fatality' shit

I can't lie, I find it very odd that posts cautioning people against donating to individual* campaigns and promoting the idea of supporting mutual aid efforts and community kitchens in Gaza can rack up 10k notes--while a post promoting a community kitchen (that I can personally vouch for) struggles to get 1k notes, and has barely pulled in a couple hundred dollars over the past week.

I actively try to avoid using guilting tactics in fundraising, but this is weird to me. It's like people are using these posts as an excuse not to do things they already didn't want to do anyway, rather than actually taking their recommendations on board...

*In my experience, these campaigns often support large extended families their neighbours

MAQMAP is a community kitchen aiming to support families in the Mawasi Al-Qarara area.

Mohammed is planning to distribute food parcels, each containing one liter of vegetable oil, one kilo of sugar, one kilo of rice, one kilo of lentils, one kilo of pasta, and a can of sauce, to the 70 families in Mawasi Al-Qarara camp later this week.

Thank you so much for all of your help so far. Any money that you can spare would really help to keep this initiative going in the coming weeks.

The organisers have begun to purchase and hand out food parcels! For the next parcels, they plan to supplement the flour and other essentials with fruits and vegetables. Not only starvation but also malnourishment are killing people in Gaza.

Thank you!!

With your help, MAQMAP has made more than 70 packages of the most essential food items to deliver to families in the camp, as well as delivering cash assistance to orphaned children. The next set of packages will go out tomorrow, inshallah.

We need your help to keep this initiative going!

i do love the woman with the bandaged face because, like, great horrid ghost concept, imagine seeing That Thang and being haunted by it while Physically Unable to turn away from it, there's a whole short horror story or comic right there about someone being driven increasingly mad by it until in their panic they snap their own neck trying to escape, however in pact she is used solely to make blake run directly and comically into a tree like wile e coyote running into a painted tunnel

film and television are pretty good but by weight they're not nearly as good as their eleborate sets. elaborate sets are such a fundamentally good object, i think they have the potential to be the highest form of art, if people treated them as high art. its like...maximal sculpture. instead of an object, a space. i guess people do this with video games but its extremely not the same as a digital object. unfortunately an elaborate fully-artifical set is very expensive. so. maybe in the post-scarcity technofuture

the minnesota history center has had various exhibits that recreated house interiors/other buildings, they're designed to be educational and are kind of geared towards kids but i remember being really enamored with them as a kid, they had a lot of interesting details. i haven't been there in quite a while, i'm not sure how their exhibits have changed since then.

this was from a temporary exhibit on suburbia that i missed ):

this one was removed in 2019 but it was so cool... https://heinzenmedia.com/portfolio/openhouse/

they still have a room that simulates the experience of hiding in ur basement as a tornado passes overhead, the light coming through the window even turns green, and u can see a tree fall outside!

they also have a mcdonalds playplace-like area where u can fufill ur dreams of being a corn kernel or soybean!
