Trying to figure out if the death threat was because I said you shouldn't leave food offerings in wilderness areas, or because I said banishing isn't the same as cleansing πŸ€” probably the offering thing, right? Because they said I was single-handedly ruining earth's ecosystem, that doesn't have very much to do with banishing.

What in the Great Unholy Fuck? We doing death threats now? That's a thing that exists commonly on witchblr???

Not commonly, no! For the amount I post I get maybe 1 or 2 hate posts at all (threats or not) a year. But usually I always know why, like a post escapes containment and someone calls me a slur for believing in magic.

This one is just confusing me so bad. I didn't block them and I'm lowkey hoping they will write back and explain.

I got a death threat or two back in the day, when I was first talking about worshiping unrecorded entities. Maybe β€œthreat” is too strong a word, β€œwishes” might be more accurate. They were very β€œyou deserve to die for deviating from the norm” blah blah blah. Witchblr has always been like this, even before we called it witchblr.

That is so not okay. And know that I will not tolerate that kind of behavior, aimed at me, or at others. What the fuck

back in the day, anonymous hate ran rampant, y'all remember pagansuncensored?

Yes!! They came for me once before they went private.

They came for me too! This community has come a long way from where it was ten years ago, but it still has a long way to go.

Actually, I had an account before this one where I got constant hate from witchblr and paganblr alike; it's why there are many people I don't engage with in the community these days. It's been better on this account, but I've still gotten people who get furiously angry at me for not being a historian lol or who wish death on me for being trans and practicing Hellenic Polytheism (a fascinating thing to be upset about, imo). The online communities of general witchblr and paganblr have a lot of maturing to do still, and I feel that people need to reflect on why they do these things more often. Like, why do you feel the need to self-righteously target others online? Save us all some time, and get a hobby instead lol.

I dunno if this is true or not but I think a loooot of the hate comes out of the woodwork when people talk about having relationships with deities at all. I have a secret pet theory that a lot of pagans who send god-based hate treat their relationships with the gods as being in a polycule where their own consent and approval is required for other worshipers to also follow that god.

I've experienced that a few times, actually! I'm not very open about the intricacies of my relationships partially because of it, since I've had people say some pretty nasty things in the past. I also notice that people get pretty uppity when you view a god differently from them sometimes. One time, I got this super weird hate ask where the person was like "Stop projecting your icky transness onto the gods, filthy American! Bleh, gross!" But I have yet to get anything else like that lol.

Wrath of Apollo

(Some notes: The infinite sign shape above is Ouroboros, a snake eating its own tail, historically a symbol of infinity or the cycle of life, death and rebirth. I chose to put it there because the duality of death and rebirth corresponds to Apollo as the god of light but also god of plague. The name β€œapollo” itself has the meaning of the β€œdestroyer” too. Snake is also an animal related to Apollo in myths.)

NEW ALBUM STUFF

So, I am sure very few people will see or care about this but I did want to post a small update because I've shifted some things around and what I initially thought would be two EPs fit better as one album. So this is what the tracklist looks like currently.

Elysium

  1. The River
  2. Sweet Tears
  3. Hazy Dreams of Hell
  4. Death’s Embrace
  5. Part of Me
  6. The Lonely Ghost Beneath an Unmarked Grave
  7. Confessions of Torment

I'm looking at POSSIBLY a spring release but it takes time to release these things and I want to make this one the best album yet. I am not 100% sure on the tracklist, there are a couple songs I may shift around or remove, but this is the basic gist of it. Some of the songs are connected (The River and Sweet Tears, HDoH and Death's Embrace) but they will stand on their own outside the rest of the album.

I'm designing some album merchandise using Fourthwall- t-shirts, buttons, etc., and I am so excited!! They should be out around the time of the album, and I'll make a post when they are.

LYRIC PREVIEWS I'm not done with all the lyrics but here's a few of my favorite ones to wet your appetite for the full songs. Theories welcome :)

  • "Were you a human soul or a contaminant?" (The River)
  • "Pulled like a marionette to the water, the first of the sinful lambs to the slaughter" (The River)
  • "I remember you laughing long ago, my face in shades of indigo" (Sweet Tears)
  • "I want you here, this dream of mine, your voice a soothing lullaby" (Hazy Dreams of Hell)
  • "I dream of hills and poppy fields, I hear you in the rain" (Hazy Dreams of Hell)
  • "The reaper will lower his scythe with silver hair and golden eyes" (Death's Embrace)
  • "Apathy's in your nature just like you are in mine" (Part of Me)
  • "Why is everyone so scared, why is everyone so scared of me?" (The Lonely Ghost Beneath an Unmarked Grave)
  • "The author of this world, he didn't think that it would hurt when he didn't give me anything, anything I deserved" (The Lonely Ghost Beneath an Unmarked Grave)
  • "Your heart is withering away, you have made misery your home" (Confessions of Torment)

Hello there! I didn’t know how exactly to contact you to tell you this, but!

I just wanted to say what a great job you’re doing! I honestly deeply admire and highly respect those who put time in effort into educating others! It shows compassion, kindness, and love. You are also one of my favorite creators here!

And I know that this year will take a huge turn in the positive direction.

Every new step in life is an opportunity and an adventure

This is a very much well deserved appreciation post because you do a lot for the hellenic polytheism community and more.

❀️

Thank you, this is incredibly kind and thoughtful of you to say! I don't personally consider myself an educator (I'm don't have any degrees or anything!); I just like to share information that I've learned myself or things that I wish someone had told me as a beginner. I'm so glad that you enjoy what I share regardless and that my information has been useful! c:

And thank you for your kind wishes! I hope your 2025 goes well for you, too. May the gods be with you, if you wish them to be. 🧑✨

Reminder that the Percy Jackson series is not an accurate source of Greek mythology.

Reminder that the Epic the Musical Saga is also not an accurate source of Greek Mythology or The Odessey

Reminder that Lore Olympus is definitely not an accurate source of Greek Mythology, or the relationship between King Hades and Queen Persephone, or any of the other gods.

Reminder that this doesn't mean you can't like these things, but you need to have a critical eye with them and not base your knowledge of mythology off of them if you're genuinely interested in deepening your understanding of the subject

Yeah, this very much so! It's still ok to enjoy these things; just don't base your knowledge of actual Greek mythology off of them, since these stories are creative modern interpretations.

An aspect of Hermes that I feel is really slept-on is his domain in animal husbandry. I've seen a lot of different definitions of this term, but from my understanding, lots of animal-human relations are included in this. Despite the name, "husbandry" does not mean "marriage", in this context; according to Google, the general definition is "the care, cultivation, and breeding of...animals."

The care of your pet? Animal husbandry. Getting eggs from chickens and milk from cows? Animal husbandry. Breeding show cats? Animal husbandry. Lots of things fall under this umbrella, and something that I've prayed to Hermes for in the past is the care and well-being of my pets. He's always been extremely helpful, and as someone who also looks after the pets of others, Hermes' animal husbandry domain is a necessity! Let's all stop sleeping on this awesome aspect of Hermes because befriending and caring for animals properly is incredibly important. 🧑✨
