Today marks one year of escalated violence against Palestine. My admiration and support goes out to the Palestinian people for their enduring strength and resilience in this fight for their liberation.
I also live on land that was stolen and colonized, and I have friends and family who have been deeply hurt by the colonizing forces that I descend from. I struggle to come up with words to describe how the genocide against Palestine, not dissimilar from Canada's own genocide towards its indigenous peoples, makes me feel. It's not my story to tell, but I want to raise my voice to uplift and support those who are fighting back against colonization, imperialism, and violence against indigenous peoples.
I'd also like to take a moment to highlight a specific gofundme. Please follow this link and read @ahmedpalestine's story. If you can't donate, please share, make art, talk about it, and learn the stories that Palestinians are trying to share with you.
Take the time to read a book about Palestine, join a talk, attend a protest. This fight isn't a flash in the pan or a trend-- it's about global liberation, the fight against fascism, and destroying the forces of colonization and imperialism. It took us centuries to get here, and it will take many years of sustained work from hundreds of thousands of people to undo the damage.
