@gazavetters

We understand the vital role that trust plays between donors and fundraising campaigns. To address this, we created GazaVetters, a blog dedicated to helping both donors and campaign organizers build and maintain that trust. Our goal is to ensure that every contribution is used effectively and transparently, giving donors peace of mind that their support is making a real difference in the right hands.

Sometimes, time seems to move in a vicious cycle, repeating itself in a painfully astonishing manner, as if mocking humanity’s ability to learn from its mistakes. Two images are separated by 75 years, yet they appear as though no time has passed as if the gap between them is merely a few fleeting moments.

The first image: A Palestinian elder holding the keys to his home, from which he was forcibly displaced after the Nakba of 1948. An image filled with pain, with tears that dried on faces, and hearts that collapsed under the weight of loss. Yet, hope for return still filled those hearts.

The second image: A recent photo that tells the same story, but this time, the protagonist is my young sister, Maryam, holding the keys to our home from which we were displaced after the Nakba of 2023.

There is no difference between the two stories, except that this time, the story is even harsher and more painful.

History seems to repeat itself, but this time, it comes with a level of suffering that humanity has never witnessed before. The killing and destruction that have ravaged both the land and its people have become more brutal at a time when many believed humanity had learned from the lessons of the past.

I'm human, and I'm asking you to act from your humanity.

I sincerely apologize to everyone for using AI in my post never did before, but I didn't have the luxury of waiting a few more days for my friend to complete the drawing for me. I hope you can understand my situation and accept my apology until that day comes. Thank you.

Five days. Five long, agonizing days without a single donation. Five days of holding on, of trying to keep hope alive as it flickers and fades before the innocent eyes of our children.

We have tried everything everything within our power, but still, there’s a missing piece, a lifeline we can not find.

These are not just words; they are a cry for help from a family of seven, shattered by war and weighed down by unbearable hardship. Every day, we stare at our phones, praying for relief, for someone to hear our plea, for someone to extend a hand and lift us from this abyss.

With every passing moment, our suffering grows heavier, yet we cling to the belief that compassionate hearts still exist hearts that will answer our call.

We need you. We need your support. We need you to feel our pain as if it were your own.

We are human. We are asking you to act from your humanity.

Happy New Year to everyone! Wishing you all success, joy, and countless blessings in 2025.

I was told that tragic images are the key to drawing public sympathy they evoke emotions and capture attention. Yet over the years, a question has lingered in my mind: When did we start enjoying being photographed in the midst of our tragedies? When did pain become a scene for the lens to capture?

How did our tears become a spectacle to display, and our wounds an image to share? Is it our need for a voice, for an echo? Or is it a hidden desire not to be alone in our sorrows?

Stand with Darine @drdarine and her family in their time of need. Pin this post to your blog and be a part of a heartfelt journey to make a difference. Together, our compassion can create hope.

Israel has taken more members of Darine’s extended family. Are they next? Does it even matter anymore? It feels like nothing does. They just need to know.

Their home, car, and belongings have been destroyed repeatedly, leaving them with nothing but a tent for shelter. They have endured hunger, a severe lack of drinking water, and over 14 months without education no schools, no hope for a future. Now, they live with no money, struggling daily for even the most basic necessities.

Yet, despite these unimaginable hardships, Darine has managed to complete the first semester of her third year in medical school, thanks to your unwavering support. She’s a bit behind, but progress, no matter how small, is still progress. Every step forward counts.

Darine continues to fight for her family, helping them survive while holding herself together. She refuses to give up, no matter how overwhelming the pain. Your support could be the lifeline they so desperately need during this relentless wave of suffering.

Her brother Ahmed created a video that Darine wanted to share with all of us. It’s a collection of memories from their lost lives, and watching it brought tears to our eyes. Perhaps we’re just emotional.

When the days were calm,

Simple as the rhythm of life,

No crowds to burden the soul,

No displacement dragging us into the unknown.

No separation tearing our hearts apart,

No hunger breaking us,

No thirst consuming us.

When life was calm...

We were like other humans,

Living without pain,

Dreaming without fear,

Loving without limits.

When life was calm...

Life was life.

URGENT HELP 🙏

🚨🚑🚨Please help my innocent sick son evacuate from Gaza, his health status is on the line.🚨🚑🚨

Hi! I'm Mohammed Al-Habil,31 years old. I have a family of 3 members.

I'm from Gaza but I've got displaced so many times from Gaza. I've got injured in the first week of this ongoing war, since that time I've been forced to leave my home to UNRWA center as a shelter. The nightmare hasn't finished, my dad has got killed in the fourth month of the war, leaving my mum and two sisters so we've taken responsibility of them in addition to my family.

This nightmare "war" has taken everything, my dad, my work, my belongings, my home which has been destroyed, my peaceful life, my peace of mind, everything!

We live in extremely hard circumstances. We have no water, no healthy food, no electricity, no healthy place, no source of money, no health care, nothing!

We live in an unhealthy environment full of diseases. I live in a tent that neither protects us from sunshines nor protects us from rain. I need a new waterproof tent which costs 1000$, my current tent is made from clothes, it doesn't protect us from rain and cold, I'm sure you'll help.

I've faced so many diseases including hepatitis and viral infection "causing fever" due to unhealthy food and environment. The food we eat is canned food although it is unhealthy and expensive.

In addition to that, my wife has faced hepatitis due to dirty bathrooms, unhealthy food and unhealthy environment we live in.

In addition to that my little innocent son, 2 years and 10 months old, has had an operation on his eyes. In brief, my life has become a miserable nightmare!

⚠️🚑Urgent medical update about my little innocent son, his health status is getting worse and worse.🚨 Recently my little son has visited the clinic, he has been suffering from a urinary tract infection "he has taken a medicine, co-trimoxazole" and this is as a result of the only canned food he eats because we can't buy healthy food.🚑⚠️

We are about to face famine, basic goods are extremely expensive even vegetables are extremely expensive and we can hardly find them.

Some kinds of food aren't available, for example, egg, baby formula, frozen meat, bottles of water.

🚨⚠️Btw, my current vetted campaign is moving extremely slowly, donations are very few, low funds, so could you spread my vetted campaign and donate even little amount of money?

145€ out of 50k€ after 10 days⚠️🚨

We need more donations.

My campaign is ✅️Vetted by @gazavetters, my number verified on the list is ( #298 )✅️

So please donate and help my little son and family.

Your donation helps us!

Please help me to save my children from the Gaza war 💔

I’m reaching out to you in the midst of this unimaginable war in Gaza 💔. Life has become a daily struggle for survival, and I urgently need your support.

Since the Gaza war started on October 7th, our lives have been filled with fear and hunger. We've been forced to move from one house to another and from one shelter to the next, searching for safety.

We have lost our income, our home, and some of our family and friends. My wife lost her father and uncle to this war. Our children have lost their dreams, their right to play, learn, and grow up in peace.

Despite all this, we still have hope, hope to escape this terror and destruction, and leave this war zone for a place where our kids can follow their dreams. But it will cost, and we need your help to survive.

🇵🇸🇵🇸Dear compassionate friends🇵🇸🇵🇸

My name is Lubna Alajrami, and I am a devoted mother from Gaza. At 30 years old, I cherish my three beautiful children: Eline, aged 7, Kinda, 2, and my precious son, Nasser, who is 4 years old.🤗

Amidst this dire situation,My heart aches for my son Nasser, who is 4 years old, and suffers from a thyroid problem that has caused him delayed growth and mental retardation. We lack the means to provide him with medical treatment and the most basic necessities, such as diapers and milk. Urgent medical care is imperative, but our current circumstances are beyond our reach. I cannot provide treatment nor buy Pampers, which are now priced at $70.💔💔

My family, including my husband, three kids, and I once led a content and joyous life in the North of Gaza. However, the onset of war-shattered our dreams, our home, and our means of sustenance. Today, we find ourselves with nothing but the fragments of what was once our life.😭😭💔💔💔

My husband, Rami, works as a home electrician. He moved away from us for 3 years so that he could raise the money necessary to build a beautiful house for our family and to open a shop that would be a source of livelihood for our family. But the war destroyed our house and our shop, it destroyed everything beautiful. We became without a home or a source of livelihood.💔💔😭😭

Allow me to share with you the stark reality we face. With the outbreak of conflict, we sought refuge in the south, settling in Deer Albalah, clinging to the hope of safety until the storm of war abated. Yet, our reality is now a tent in a refugee camp devoid of basic amenities. Our living space is confined, lacking toilets, kitchens, and even access to clean water and electricity. For full year, we've endured the harshness of our circumstances, battling not only the physical challenges but also the pervasive illnesses that haunt the refugee camp. All these conditions directly affected my son Nasser's health for the worst. It breaks my heart to see my child suffering and needing medical aid while I have nothing I can do.😭😭💔💔💔

Hence, I ask you for your kindness and generosity to support our cause. This fundraising campaign aims to provide the necessary medical treatment and health care for Nasser, to secure milk and Pampers for my child, and to secure the life requirements of my family, because we are now without work and without a source of livelihood.💔💔🙏🙏🙏🙏

Your assistance can make a tangible difference in our lives. Here's how you can help:

Donate whatever amount you can afford to support our cause.

Share our fundraiser with your network, spreading awareness of our plight.

Keep us in your thoughts and prayers as we navigate these trying times.

No matter how small, every contribution is a beacon of hope for us. Your kindness and compassion will serve as a lifeline, guiding us towards a brighter tomorrow.

With heartfelt gratitude🥰

🚨Urgent Appeal 🚨

I am Abdullah Al-Hajj, 25 years old. I graduated from high school with big dreams of earning a university degree, but life took a different turn. Due to the difficult circumstances we faced, I couldn’t pursue my academic aspirations. Instead, I joined my brother in the field of chemical manufacturing, and I quickly learned the craft. It became the primary source of income for our family. Through this work, I was able to get married and start building my own life.

But everything changed when the war broke out in Gaza. The relentless bombings destroyed not just our workplace, but also every hope and dream we had built. The factory that had provided for our family was reduced to rubble. I found myself struggling to provide for even the most basic necessities—food, water, and medical care for my pregnant wife, who is expecting our first child.

As the war intensified and the destruction spread to our neighborhood, we were forced to flee to a safer area. We found shelter in a makeshift tent, which barely protected us from the scorching summer heat or the bitter winter cold. Life in the tent has been harsh, and survival has become a daily struggle.

My younger brother, Bilal Al-Hajj, always had big dreams. From a young age, he aspired to become a professional football player. Recently, Bilal graduated from high school and enrolled in university, determined to balance his education with his passion for football. His dream was to play for one of the major football clubs, a goal he had worked tirelessly toward for years.

But the war shattered Bilal’s dreams as well. The harsh realities of our situation—the struggle for food, water, and basic medical care—have made it impossible for him to chase his passion. The war has not only destroyed homes and buildings but also ambitions, hopes, and the future we once envisioned.

🎯Campaign Goal:

Your donations can make a life-changing difference for my family. We need to evacuate my family of six from Gaza, and the cost of permits and coordination to leave is about $5,000 per person. Once we reach Egypt, your support will help secure shelter and cover initial living expenses as we adjust to a new life. The ongoing siege in Gaza has made survival increasingly difficult, with skyrocketing prices and severe shortages of food and water. Your generous contributions will help us meet immediate needs and begin rebuilding our lives. Please consider donating through the link below—your help can offer us a chance for safety, stability, and hope.

Your kindness can give my family a chance to escape the devastation, protect the next generation, and reignite hope for a peaceful and dignified life.

Thank you for standing with us in these difficult times.

Warm regards, Abdullah Al-Hajj

Our team at #GazaVetters has rigorously vetted and approved this campaign, earning it a spot on our official list at #300 .

A few days ago, I had the honor of visiting the Al-Hajj family to assist them and verify the details of their campaign on Tumblr and their GoFundMe fundraising initiative.

The two brothers were extremely polite and respectful, and the verification process went smoothly. The visit was marked by their generous hospitality, as we enjoyed coffee and exchanged pleasant conversations.

I love learning new alphabets and I've been thinking about how my name would be written in the two languages I'm learning that don't use a Latin alphabet.

I think in Korean it would be:

우디 or 욷이 (I don't really know if there is a difference in pronunciation between these two)

And I think in Arabic it would be:

ودي

If you know either of these languages, I would love to know if I've guessed right? The pronunciation of my name rhymes with the English "goodie".

I learned from someone in the comments that in Korean, my name would be spelt 우디 (udi/oodie), because if it were the other way I imagined, it would be pronounced differently (udji/oodji) and that's not what we want. (Thank you!)

And today, I learned from my friend @dawoudi that in the Arabic alphabet, my name would be spelled: أودي.

Thank you, my friend, for taking the time to correct and teach me.

For anyone else reading this, if you can afford to, please consider donating to his family's campaign, which is mostly run by his wonderful daughter @drdarine. They are a family of seven displaced in Gaza.

Their campaign is verified. It is no 15 on the @gazavetters spreadsheet of vetted fundraisers. Donations are trickling in very slowly, and the last donation is already a day ago.

And please share their fundraiser if you can.

Help 5-Year-Old Mariam and Her Family Escape the Horrors of War in Gaza 🍉🕊

Five-year-old Mariam,🕊with her bright pink backpack and tiny hands clutching a red rose, was ready to head to her KG2 class. It was a Saturday morning, October 7, and Mariam was filled with excitement and pride for reaching the next stage of her education. She wanted to surprise her kind teacher with that little rose. But in an instant, her world — our world — was torn apart.

Without warning, the skies filled with the sounds of explosions. The joyful morning turned into a nightmare of dust, fear, and destruction. Her preschool was shattered, her teacher’s life taken, and our neighborhood became a place of ruin. That single day marked the beginning of a relentless assault on Gaza — a place where childhood dreams, laughter, and innocence were erased in moments.

I am Khaled Ismail, a 41-year-old father, and my wife Rasha is 32. We live in Gaza with our three children. Our youngest, beautiful Mariam🕊, is just five years old. Our eldest, Walid, 12, is a boy full of dreams, always hoping to become an inventor. And in the middle, there’s Karim, our 10-year-old, whose laughter and jokes used to brighten our darkest days.

But the war has left scars that words cannot heal. The day of the first airstrike changed everything. Rubble covered their toys, and black dust filled the air. The sound of my children’s cries mixed with the chaos of families running for their lives. We left our home that day, desperately searching for safety. But every step, every shelter, brought only more destruction.

For a year now, we have been displaced, moving from one place to another, only to be met with more violence. Today, our home is nothing more than a frail tent. It offers no shelter from the burning heat of summer or the biting cold of winter. My children’s small bodies are battered by this reality — malnutrition, intestinal infections, heat stroke, and even hepatitis are constant threats.

I have nothing left to change our situation. My children have lost everything. I have lost everything. Their childhood is buried under the rubble, their dreams replaced by survival, and their once-joyful laughter now a faint memory.

I am humbly reaching out to you with a plea to help us escape this endless nightmare. Our dream is simple: to find safety, to give our children a chance at life, to give Mariam and her brothers a future. With every dollar, you offer a glimmer of hope, a step closer to a place where they can finally be children again.

Please, be the reason my family finds peace. Your support, even just one dollar, can make all the difference. Together, we can turn this story of despair into one of hope and resilience. Start today, and be a part of the miracle we need.

Help Mariam🕊. Help my family. Let us find a place to live with dignity and hope. Thank you for reading, and thank you for caring.
