blog used to be more formal, it's mostly just me @ethanscrocs running it now! boosting fundraising posts and other things i've seen around that i find important. i need to keep it separate from my main because of my OCD, as well as legitimate personal reasons that i'd prefer not to elaborate on publicly.

i do actually get more reach on here!

A Confession from the Heart of Suffering: An Unbearable Reality

I hope you read my confession, and thank you. This is the reality of all the people of Gaza.

Whenever I think of the life we used to have before the genocide, I have to struggle to hold my tears so I don't cause my children more pain than what they already feel. Our life, then, was neither easy nor perfect but it was full of warmth and the simple joy of being together under one roof . We have never felt completely free because we have always been under a siege that has only gotten worse during this war but at least we felt somewhat safe and we had quite a decent life with the means that we were allowed. What kept us going was our belief that the future might be brighter one day.

โ€Hello, I am Shorooq, a nursing graduate of the University of Palestine in Gaza. I was married and gave birth to my first child, Jamal, on October 6, on the first day of the war, where I suffered from problems in childbirth and providing diapers and milk for my child in case of cutting the minimum basic necessities of life

โ€The first sound he heard was the sound of bombing and planes instead of quiet music. My husband and I dreamed of raising him in a peaceful environment with peace like the rest of the children of the world, and in the arms of our family, because he is the first grandson of the family whose ancestors remained in Gaza. His uncles, aunts and cousins suffer from the harshest types of torture, including displacement, famine and cold

โ€It's a heavy heart I'm making this post asking for help. I was able to leave the Gaza Strip for Egypt with my family, where the price of survival was very high.

โ€The occupation killed our dreams, and we lost our country, our family and our friends. Our work, but we arrived in Egypt after exhausting all our financial capabilities, and we now live in Egypt without any source of income, and we live with another family and we do not have work to meet our daily needs and provide my little son with food, drink and children's supplies.

โ‚ฌ0 -> โ‚ฌ25k๐Ÿ˜”๐Ÿ’”

โ€Please help save our lives and consider donating to my cause. There is no very small donation and every donation is appreciated.
Please Support my family ๐Ÿ™

I haven't been receiving donations for two days, and the last 10 days' donations are very scarce. The reaction is lacking. Please, please help my family until we reach the goal as soon as possible. 10 euros can help you continue. Please don't hesitate to do that.๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿฅน

Help Mohamad reunite his family and clear his debt

I am reaching out on behalf of my dear friend, Mohamad S., who is facing one of the most challenging times of his life. Mohamad is 37 years old and left his homeland in 2015 in search of a safer and better future. Heโ€™s a kind, hardworking man, and his small family has always been his greatest priority.

Living abroad, Mohamad has recently endured unimaginable loss and financial strain. Amidst the ongoing conflict in his homeland, his mother passed away, leaving behind his sister and her five young childrenโ€”the last remaining members of his immediate family.

As the situation worsened, Mohamad managed to help his sister and her children escape to safety in Egypt, covering their immediate needs and securing a temporary refuge for them. Since then, he has been fully responsible for providing everything they need to survive during this transition.

In his efforts to support his family and cope with this devastating loss, Mohamad has found himself deeply in debt. To make matters even more difficult, he recently underwent knee surgery, which limits his ability to return to work for the foreseeable future. This has made it even harder for him to manage his financial responsibilities and the pressing need to provide his family with a stable future.

Mohamad is now working to bring his sister and her five children to join him in Belgium, where he hopes they can find stability and opportunity after all theyโ€™ve endured. This transition, however, requires significant resources that he is currently unable to meet alone.

For privacy reasons, we are not sharing Mohamadโ€™s full name, as he has chosen to keep his identity discreet. While he initially refused the idea of asking for help, I couldnโ€™t stand by and watch him struggle alone. I insisted on doing this for him because he deserves a chance to overcome these challenges and provide a stable future for his family.

Your contribution will help Mohamad repay the debt incurred during this difficult time, cover ongoing living expenses for his family, and assist with the costs involved in bringing them safely to Belgium.

Mohamad has been a good friend of mine for years, and Iโ€™ve always admired his resilience and generosity. Any support, no matter the size, will make an incredible difference in helping Mohamad and his family rebuild their lives after these painful experiences.

Thank you for reading his story and considering helping a man who has always done everything he can for his loved ones.

DO NOT SUPPORT SALVATION ARMYย

I can back this up. It isnโ€™t only their shelters.

I have a family friend who worked at our local Salvation Army headquarters as a a secretary. This particular office took all the Christmas donations for children in need, put them in a warehouse, and on a designated day the staff and their friends picked through them all, taking whatever they wanted. She saw people hauling away bikes donated for specific families. Some local children had hundreds of dollars of gifts donated in their name, and on Christmas they received three cheap things, items likely not even from the person who sponsored them.

My friend quit, and Iโ€™ve not given them a dime of my money since then.

Do not give to the Salvation Army.

Do Not. Give. To. Salvation. Army

My turn.

Iโ€™m a wildfire and disaster logistics specialist.

I deal with a lot of agencies who provide disaster relief.

I used to say the Salvation Armyโ€™s disaster services were the one (literally the ONE) good thing they did.

They would come in, set up a canteen trailer, make and pass out hot coffee and donated food in a disaster, usually being one of the first agencies to get there and the last to leave.

Then I found out.

Every time they did this, regardless of if they were actually invited or deployed by the agency in charge (usually FEMA, sometimes others) they would SELF-DEPLOY. Meanjng they would just show up. Ok. Thatโ€™s not TOO bad, sometimes agencies have to take initiative and get there before the red tape is sorted out. BUT. They, after they left at the end of the incident, they would send FEMA or the host agency a BILL. They used one or two paid employees (usually the driver of the truck and a supervisor); and many VOLUNTEERS, but they would bill for EVERYONEโ€™s Labor at standard federal rates. They would bill for the food they distributed even though it was all donated by another agency or private parties. They would bill for the coffee they made and the supplies. Except they would use electricity from the shelter location, water from donations or from the shelter, and in many cases, they would get the coffee and industrial filters DONATED, but bill for them at retail prices.

Donโ€™t FUCKING give to the Salvation Army.

The Salvation Army is also ass to the workers. A good number of people join it, naively thinking that itโ€™s doing good, and end up leaving cynical and beaten down. The management is hostile, if not outright abusive, and demand some ridiculous hours of it lower to mid-level staff. Donโ€™t support these people.

Unsettling update

Find better local charities and shelters and give to them instead!

Also just for even more horrific context on the original twitter thread?

Salvation Army reached out to Milknmuffins and asked what shelter sheโ€™s at with the promise to address the abuse in it. Sheโ€ฆended up saying where she was. She was thrown out onto the street. Itโ€™s also all on Twitter.

They invited her to a personal talk so she could explain the situation in person.

And then they threatened her with a screenshot of a rape-threat made supposedly by her:

And then threw her out into the street while claiming she broke house rules that

So yeah, the Salvation Army is a bunch of entitled assholes that will treat the most vulnerable like shit if they dare try to do anything that makes them look bad

Theย โ€œFuck Salvation Armyโ€ posts are making the rounds again, so conisder this your reminder: Do. Not. Give. These. Assholes. A. Single. Fucking. Penny.

Do not support them in any way, shape, or form.

Help My Family Escape the War and Start a New Life

I am searching for an opportunity to live safely, far from the relentless war. Our three children, Rahaf, Leen, and Aseel, are in desperate need of healthcare and a stable, secure environment.

The life we live now is filled with fear and suffering. We cannot provide our children with the necessary care or the safety they deserve. We aspire to move to a country where we can start a new life, where our children can enjoy education and healthcare, and grow up in an environment full of hope and optimism.

We understand that life is challenging for everyone, but we are asking for your help during this difficult time. Your donations will help us cover travel expenses, and provide housing and necessary healthcare for our children upon arrival.

GoFundMe Campaign Link โ™ฅ๏ธ :

Every contribution, no matter how small, brings us closer to achieving this dream. We are grateful to everyone who supports us or shares our campaign.

Help us save our children's lives ๐Ÿ™

tl;dr: trans person is moving out of the us, needs to cover hrt appointment and a few other things. offering art commissions

i'm seb and i'm moving out of the us to portugal in early january. before then, i have to go to my doctor one last time for my hrt. i do not have health insurance and have to pay for the bloodwork and appointment out of pocket.

i know that the bloodwork is going to be at most $60 and the actual appointment can be anywhere from $100-350; they don't tell me long before the appointment so i can't give an exact price on that.

my mother in law, who is moving with me and my husband (also trans), is covering most other things, but cannot cover my appointment and a few other expenses. to that end i have commissions open which start from $15 for an uncolored headshot sketch. there's examples in the link or you could go to my art blog for more

putting a tentative goal of $500, which should cover everything and give me a little wiggle room for anything else that may come up.

pp is [email protected] ca can be handed over privately

$0/500

I hope you are fine but I want to ask you are you comfortable? Does your conscience work? Do you have humanity? I am not asking you for anything impossible. I just want you to help me and stand by me so that I can have a platinum back surgery. The cost of the surgery is expensive. Help me as much as you can and may God bless you.
