I love learning new alphabets and I've been thinking about how my name would be written in the two languages I'm learning that don't use a Latin alphabet.
I think in Korean it would be:
우디 or 욷이 (I don't really know if there is a difference in pronunciation between these two)
And I think in Arabic it would be:
ودي
If you know either of these languages, I would love to know if I've guessed right? The pronunciation of my name rhymes with the English "goodie".
I learned from someone in the comments that in Korean, my name would be spelt 우디 (udi/oodie), because if it were the other way I imagined, it would be pronounced differently (udji/oodji) and that's not what we want. (Thank you!)
And today, I learned from my friend @dawoudi that in the Arabic alphabet, my name would be spelled: أودي.
Thank you, my friend, for taking the time to correct and teach me.
For anyone else reading this, if you can afford to, please consider donating to his family's campaign, which is mostly run by his wonderful daughter @drdarine. They are a family of seven displaced in Gaza.
Their campaign is verified. It is no 15 on the @gazavetters spreadsheet of vetted fundraisers. Donations are trickling in very slowly, and the last donation is already a day ago.
And please share their fundraiser if you can.
