I’ve gotten this book out from the library and it is fantastic. I was wary, because we all know how well most organization schemes work for us, but she is a professional organizer who specifically wrote the book because her usual methods didn’t work for clients with adhd (and then her own daughter, when she was diagnosed) and she had to actually sit down and figure out their needs and adjust her methods accordingly.

For once, a NT author sat down and took the time to really understand adhd and rearranged their whole methodology just to fit, and it shows. She explicitly says that a well-organized adhd house will not look like a well-organized NT house, and that is absolutely fine. Organization has to be about what works for you.

(Also: I had this book sitting in my back office basket at the library I volunteer in for weeks without being able to check it out, because I kept forgetting to return my overdue books. LOL)

Do Not, under any circumstances, take your own life. 

That's what they want you to do. Don't give them the satisfaction. Things suck ass right now but this isn't an immediate death sentence by any means. We can, and we WILL still fight. I know I will and I know I’m not alone in that. If any of us are going to go out, let's at least be able to say we went out standing up and fighting. Killing yourself is not an option. They may have won the electoral college but they have not truly won yet. Do what you have to, cry, scream, sob, hit something, as long as you are still breathing they have not won yet.

I'm not giving up and I'm sure as shit not letting any of you give up either.

I know you're scared, I know you're tired, believe me I am too. In spite of that I am determined to live because I truly believe there is nothing else worth doing. I am going to fight like hell and in the meantime, in between the battles, there are people to love, dogs to pet, food to eat, and art to make. I'm not going to miss out on that just because some republican fuckwads think I should and at the risk of sounding too prescriptive I don't think you should either.

Right now it looks like the next 4 years are going to be hell and we will probably be fighting the decisions made here for a long time coming but IT IS NOT HOPELESS. The world is not hopeless, this country is not hopeless, we are not hopeless, and in the event that we cannot find hope we will create our own. It’s going to be hard and it’s going to hurt like hell but I wholeheartedly believe in us and it’s going to take more than one fucked up election to change that.

So, I guess as a middle range millennial, I now get to tell all you young queer kids that what you are feeling right now is exactly how it felt in 2004 when we re-elected George Bush, and not only that but many states put in bans against gay/same sex marriage at the time.

This is probably not comforting, but it is true, and it helps me when I feel hopeless: For every revolution there is a counter revolution, for every step forward there is a step back, that things may not be good forever but they will not be bad, either. That we clawed our way to get where we are and we can claw our way forward from here, too. Talk to your queer elders, the ones who have been here before and will be here again and who threw bricks at Stonewall.

When I was a child, if you got AIDS it was a death sentence. Now it isn't. Now you live on.
