Based on traits from real pigeon breeds. Lower values = smaller part, or in the case of frillback normal feathers rather than curly ones

"i can't figure out how to make my point without appearing bigoted and conspiratorial" idk then maybe your point is bigoted and conspiratorial? skill issue.

When will someone gently take all the internet food bloggers by the shoulders, look into their eyes, and explain that coconut milk is not a neutral-flavored dairy substitute

To be clear this is not me being a coconut hater. This is me saying that making coconut-flavored garlic & spinach & artichoke dip is, at minimum, an unusual choice

the gay girl dating scene is really like this

why did you add this to my post about wanting to have sex with women

The post that almost went to horny jail, then landed in wholesome territory

Oh, shut the fuck up. Why is it “horny jail” for a woman to want to kiss another woman? Why do women who like other women require a “wholesome” edit to fix their “horny” comic that was about nothing more than an expression of attraction? Because we’re gross for our desires? Because we’re unpalatable unless we’re ~chaste~ and ~wholesome~ and ~unpolluted by sexual attraction~? People view all lesbian attraction as predatory and it SHOWS. I hope you’re ashamed of this, genuinely.

Tumblr users never think critically about the religious views they were indoctrinated with as children and up creating cathowlwicism

fixed it

Despite every moment of life being indescribably precious and a wondrous mystery, I will spend it caring about dividends and how many rental properties I have.

Rich people are truly dead inside.

I can't imagine caring this much about numbers that absolutely will never impact my life. This person is making more in passive income than I've ever made in my life and he's just like "but but I need more :(".

I mean, fuck that guy, but psychologically it's interesting.

Some desperate remnant of his soul knows what he needs. As soon as his debt is cleared, he goes on to live what many would call an utterly charmed life: working no more than 20 hours a week, travelling and spending time with friends (which he, at $150,000 a year and no mortgage, has ample money to do). He has a loving relationship also.

But his brain is so rotten that he cannot understand happiness anymore. He is incapable of conceptualising it other than in money.

A man who has everything except the ability to feel it.

How poetic.

But fuck that guy.

I want to hit this man.

I want to rob this man.

Meow appears beside Rogue, holding a sign: "Heist? Heist."

This man is so so so close to realizing a fundamental truth to how humans operate, but I genuinely don’t think he’s going to get there. Although I’m not sure he realizes it this man views the money he earns as a direct translation of his sense of personal achievement and engagement.

Which means that when he says he regrets the months he didn’t pick up more hours to earn more money, what he’s describing here is boredom. He’s doing it in the crassest, shallowest, most income-obsessed and unattainable for most of us way possible, yes. But this man is expressing that once he achieved a certain financial goal he relaxed, enjoyed himself, got bored, realized on some level he was understimulated, and then started working more hours to meet whatever stimulated activity threshold he personally needs.

This is infuriating because this man experienced the counter-argument to that nonsensical talking point that if we meet people’s financial needs with a universal basic income they’ll grow lazy and won't do anything.

Anyone trying to develop $200,000 in passive annual income is not working three minimum-wage jobs to live paycheck-to-paycheck. This man’s basic financial needs were met. Working more hours to make more money is just his own personal code for ‘I still needed to use my mind to do things’ (using what might be the only metric of personal achievement he might actually have). This man lived the argument for universal basic income and I genuinely don’t think he realizes that. Once his basic income needs were met he still needed to do things to keep himself stimulated and engaged with his own life.

You see a version of this play out with retirees who leave their jobs, go home, and very quickly find themselves in need of new activities or friends or engagements to keep them present and stimulated in their lives. Ensuring someone’s basic financial needs are met doesn’t make them stop doing things, humans don’t work that way.

Reblogging for the psychology lessons

There is, I believe, a line in an Agatha Christie story about a man so desperately unhappy he doesn’t know he’s unhappy. “Ah, a rich man,” responds the nun.

I'd like to note one particular line:

"The plan was to grow our money so we could feel financially secure by the time we had a baby"

Financially secure.

This man and his wife have enough passive income to travel the world and vacation with their friends and only work 20 hours a week, they make $150,000 a year with no mortgage to pay, and he feels...

Financially insecure.

So financially insecure he's afraid to have a child.

I don't know if there's a disconnect between him and poor people. I don't know if he was poor in his youth. Society and the economy as a whole are pretty volatile right now. So I don't necessarily blame him for having financial anxiety. It feels shocking to me, as someone just now making over 50k for the first time in my life at age 40, because I feel financially secure, and he doesn't. But clearly financial anxiety does not care how much you make.

it actually blows my mind that tons of queer people seriously think that viewing women as inherently weak, scared, pathetic, incapable of holding power, and defenseless is feminist and progressive. how on god's green earth does it empower women at all to tell other women that they're just inherently weaker than men, need to be scared of men, that no matter what women can't hurt or abuse them, are always prey and never predators, have no autonomy, that women are literally incapable of holding positions of power over others, that women who abuse others are just "traumatized by patriarchy," or any of this nonsense?

this is misogyny for the sake of making men look bad. that's not empowering at all. regardless of the "men evil woman good" narrative you're trying to spin, it's still reinforcing that women are weak, pathetic, stupid, defenseless babies who can't ever do harm or protect themselves. the reason for reinforcing it does not matter: it's still misogyny. you are still acting with hatred for women. you still have patriarchal views of womanhood you need to abandon. how is telling women that they're inherently weaker than men progressive?

how is any of this feminist? this is literally just misogyny. you can't take misogyny and slap a new coat of paint on it and call it progressive. if you think this way, you have been suckered into hating women whether or not you realize it. you can't blame every shitty thing a woman does on trauma from cisheteronormative patriarchy. you're removing the autonomy from womanhood altogether. what you're saying is that women aren't responsible for their actions because they're too scared and and can't think critically because of how "scared" they are. what, you think women just can't take accountability because we're too dumb and pathetic and useless...? because that's what it sounds like.

you're telling women we're brainless and shouldn't think for themselves. stop calling yourself progressive if you promote the idea that women shouldn't think for themselves, but rather listen to you, instead, to make their decisions for them. stop proudly being a misogynist for the sake of trying to make men look bad. telling women that they're too stupid to be able to tell a genuine threat from a guy just standing there is misogynistic as fuck. this isn't liberating women. it's not liberating ANYONE
