In addition to removing fact checkers, Meta also added some new language to their Hateful Conduct policy:

yes this is real. as a reminder, Meta runs Instagram, Facebook, Messenger, and Threads. not that Meta has ever been an ally, but blatantly writing this in your website’s conduct policy is certainly a choice

The CNN headline adds some more

Users are now allowed to, for example, refer to “women as household objects or property” or “transgender or non-binary people as ‘it,’” according to a section of the policy prohibiting such speech that was crossed out. A new section of the policy notes Meta will allow “allegations of mental illness or abnormality when based on gender or sexual orientation, given political and religious discourse about transgenderism and homosexuality.”

Marlo also interviewed Meredith Lee/Derek Moo who identifies as "dual gender." They have been out publicly for six years, and in "various semi-private spaces" for up to 20 years. "I pretty much live openly as either presentation, and it seems to work. I go to work as either Meredith or Derek. My kids are fine, my kids are almost adults. All of my family knows, all of my relatives know," they say. "The software company I work for has been pretty proactive in terms of the whole diversity and inclusion thing. I was the first openly trans person in the company, to my knowledge. "When I first presented as Merri, it was at one of the Christmas parties, which is the classic way to do it, right? Might as well wear a dress to the party!"

from this article about trans and gender-diverse elders in Australia. I just love hearing about older multigender people so much <3

you can preorder marlo w's book as either a physical copy or an ebook from his website :)

I do love the phrase executive dysfunction bc the image it conjures is of a bunch of people wearing business suits around a long oval conference table  arguing with each other to the point where they’re getting into physical fights, but in the background there’s just a big empty whiteboard with a To Do list with one item on it and that item is “take shower”

I really want to see this happen. There are way too many black trans women murdered.

[image description: digital painting of a Black woman with curly 3C hair sitting on a bench as she rests her feet on the top of the terrace's parapet, where a glass of red wine sits. she wears a pink gown, an orange butterfly-shaped hair accessory and is reading a book with a marker designed to look like the trans flag. background is the view of the ocean where a boat sails in the distance, and there's a rainbow in the blue sky. scribbled text in the space where the ocean is seen reads: "i want to see Black trans women grow old." /end description]

Caper in the Castro is a legendary video game, not because legions of die-hard fans continue to play it, but because it was thought to be lost forever. Now, what is largely considered to be the first LGBTQ-focused video game (it was released in 1989) is on the Internet Archive for anybody to play.

The game is a noir point-and-click that puts the player in the (gum)shoes of a private detective named Tracker McDyke who is, in case you couldn’t guess by the name, a lesbian. McDyke must unravel the mystery behind the disappearance of Tessy LaFemme, a transgender woman, in San Francisco’s Castro district, an historically gay neighbourhood.

OOOOOHhh!

The game was released as charityware – freely, with a strong request to give a donation an AIDS Charity of their choice. I’d like to push towards still following that and donating, if you’re able.

(And you might also want to donate to the Internet Archive, who is hosting it now, while you’re at it – they’re in the middle of a donation drive, and could use your support.)

adhd is fun bc everything I got taught is backwards

a good day makes good sleep

starting with a lil treat gets the work done

More things to do is less overwhelming

don’t make a plan just get in there

you’ll never take good care of what you don’t like so throw it out (this one is my favorite bc it’s easy to see what you don’t like)

Incredible addition

don’t put the thing on the shelf put the shelf under the thing
