Connecting Everyone to the Outdoors

We believe that every Tribe and Indigenous community should have a homeland where they can thrive and where every member can receive the benefits of access to nature, the outdoors, and their culture.

Statement of Intention on Work with Tribal and Indigenous Communities

We’re Working to Restore Sacred Lands to Tribal and Indigenous Communities

Our Native Lands Work

We have worked with more than 70 tribes and Indigenous groups to protect more than 200,000 acres from California to Washington to Hawai’i.

We partner with tribal governments and communities and state and federal agencies to acquire and preserve homelands and culturally significant places such as ancestral burial grounds, fishing sites, and lands that supply traditional foods and medicines.

We’re Advocating for Funding Programs and Policies

We’re pursuing legislative and administrative strategies to remove barriers to tribal access to federal programs and funding, and we’re pushing for new and sustainable funding programs such as the Forest Legacy and Community Forest Program to protect and preserve Indigenous culture and their ancestral lands.
