Thomas' first gadget memory was typing 7734 into his father's inverted, HP-35 scientific calculator. Clearly fated to tech blogging, he would have to wait another 20 years before the rise of the medium. A degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering led Thomas to Silicon Valley just prior to the dot-com boom. In June of 2011, Thomas wrote his 1,362,258th word for Engadget, leaving to help launch The Verge.

Polaris Dawn Mission is off to a good start.

At 5:23AM ET, a SpaceX Falcon 9 successfully launched the four-person all-civilian crew into space on the multi-day mission. Among other things, they’ll be conducting the first-ever space walk by commercial astronauts wearing SpaceX-developed suits, and testing Starlink’s laser-based communications.

Our first official look at Huawei’s tri-fold.

The full reveal isn’t coming until September 10th — a date surely chosen to upstage Apple’s event that finishes just hours before — but here’s a teaser posted to Huawei’s Weibo account. It briefly shows the Mate XT Ultimate Design unfolded and folded, but mostly shows actor and singer Andy Lau being extremely cinematic.

Importantly, it doesn’t answer our biggest question: how thick is this boi?
