I have been eagerly anticipating this gig. The band has had some hype, and deservedly so because the tracks released so far have stamped them firmly in the eyes of the music world.
Having bought the debut album next stop was seeing them live, to truly get a feel for them and the image that accompanies the sound.
They didn't disappoint in the slightest and the crowd loved every moment of their set.
At the front of stage is Izzy B Phillips standing loud and proud, guitar in hand and dressed in her trademark garb - her style is her own. Having been to gigs over the last 40 years I can honestly say that Izzy owns the stage with such presence and confidence that she could have been doing this for decades.
Drawing likenesses between artists is tough and in a way disrespectful of any of them as each sets their own mark on stage as they want it to be. But if I were to go there then I would say a definite mix between Debbie Harry and Prince. A bold statement I know but that was the way she comes over.
The band only knocked out a 1 hour set, but each and every song was delivered with flare and power and a sign of things to come.
With them owning their own music and no intention of signing to a label I am sure they will be back with a stack of new tracks very soon.
The band are a solid unit who clearly enjoy working together.
The stage looks like a film set.
Sheer energy of their instruments.
The unique voice of Izzy.
This band have success stamped all over them and I for one will be back to see them live time after time.
All 3 bands on tonight were entertaining and all had different styles. Superegos kicked it all off with a good set that started to get the crowd wormed up. Then Freak were next on with their high energy songs that wound the crowd up even more even playing a version of Britney's Toxic(not like the original). Then on came Black Honey if i were to compare them to any other band I'd see it would be Wolf Alice. They play a mixture of up tempo and slow songs we even got a version of wonderwall although this was most crowd lead.
over all a very good evening was had by all and i would recommend any of the 3 bands that were playing.
Saw them at the Academy 2 in Manchester a few days after the release of their first album. My partner said I'd never enjoyed a gig more in my life. I love the album so kept singing along
and dancing all the way. I can definitely see these grow in the next few years and I can't wait to see them again. Made my night and my week.
Bloody brilliant! Better than sex! The entire show including the support was totally orgasmic! Magnficently mesmerising, gutsy and up close! My head is still buzzing and I need more! A fantastic, powerful (but sadly short lived) fix for my music addiction.
Really energetic, Izzy is such an interesting and cool frontwoman. The lighting and atmosphere was brilliant and they really knew how to keep the audience engaged throughout the show. Will be a fun night for everyone even if you don't know their songs.
this was the second time i've seen black honey and it was by far the best concert i've ever been to
i really hope their next tour is soon because i loved it.. also, russo (the support) were really good too
Amazing live! Seen them twice, once when they were a support act near the beginning of their music career and the other time during their recent London gig and both times I was blown away.
Seen them a few times the band are always quality. Saw them recently though at the bullingdon in Oxford and there were several absolute meatheads in the crowd who got on everyone's nerves
Seen Black Honey on Sunday 11th October at Broadcast in Glasgow an enjoyable evening listening to Black Honey a very good concert. If you get a change to see them much recommended.
I only know a few of their songs but Black Honey were great so now I know more. Izzy is funny & a real entertainer and the Cave is a fantastic venue. Brilliant :-)
