RÜFÜS (aka RÜFÜS DU SOL in North America) are an indie dance trio who formed in 2010 hailing from Sydney, Australia and have won an allegiance of fans and critics alike with their dreamy and catchy rhythms.
Having just completed a sound engineering course, Jon George (keys) met Tyrone Lindqvist (vocals) through his brother and he jumped on board to record to his Lindqvist’s solo acoustic project. Bonding through their mutual love of artists such as: Booka Shade, Trentemoller and Royksopp, they experimented with a more electronic sound and recorded the outcome in their bedrooms. Once the material had been produced, James Hunt (drums) from a local indie band completed the line-up and the vision for RÜFÜS was realised. The result of these recordings would become their debut self-titled EP which they released in 2011 featuring the first single “We Left” on their own label Monkeleon.
The following year the band released the “Blue” EP with the single “This Summer”. As advocates for the DIY approach, the band tend kept all productions low key and had all artwork designed by George’s brother allowing the band to have full control over the all aspects of their art.
Using Soundcloud as a platform to release new material saw the band boost both interest and popularity as their reach extended worldwide with their energetic and ambient electronic sound. As RÜFÜS ventured outside of Australia, playing shows across Europe with their European influenced sound, the band soon became known for their electric performances as the commanded the attention of the audience with their euphoric and upbeat sounds.
After writing solidly for nine months, in 2013 RÜFÜS released their highly anticipated debut album “Atlas” which catapulted into the Australian album charts debuting at number one and achieving gold status. The album created a perfect balance of light and dark whilst encompassing all their musical influences and featured the popular singles: “Tonight”, “Desert Night” and “Take Me”.
RÜFÜS have supported LCD SoundSystem and Holy Ghost! and made appearances at SXSW, Wonderland Festival and Reading and Leeds festival, comfortably situating themselves at the forefront of Australia’s emerging EDM scene.

They give a positive sweet vibe and I'd rather be in the same atmosphere next time. Rufus is a band I highly connect with. Can't wait for what's next!!

LIVE NATION & TICKETMASTER SUCKS AND NEEDS TO BE TAKEN OUT OF POWER!!!
The Filmore is not a good venue. The staff was all great except one guy who yelled at me for trying to take a photo for more than 3 seconds... CAMERAS NEED A SECOND TO FOCUS! There was 6 feet of space for ppl and I wasn't in anyone's way off to the side. All the VIP set up in center was taking up over half the viewing area and no one was paying for that shit. There were huge speakers and blank TV's hanging blocking the stage and the band. Too many drunk rude people. We had a spot for a half hour before these ppl pushed their asses against us, apologizing for putting their ass all over us.... and continuing to do it. Then pressed against my husband and i with their backs and asses and took group selfies together as we were being crushed into a gate. Absolutely deplorable behavior... We left and went towards the back where we had the blocked viewing, and a couple drunks spilled beer on us. Great. The venues set up is terrible. The prices of tickets were fair until DICKS LN AND TM GAUGE FEES that are not real. POS monopolies. Will never go to a Filmore again if I can help it. Awful venue. FIND WAYS TO RUIN THESE COMPANIES!!!
Stripping down to a simple stage set up of percussion, synths, drum pads and keys Australian trio RÜFÜS continue to mesmerise audiences with their synth infused indie dance music. Forming in 2010, Jon George, Tyrone Lindqvist and James Hunt released their self-titled EP the following year. However it was the release of their debut full length album ‘Atlas’ in 2013 which catapulted them into mainstream, heading straight to number one in the Australian album charts and churned out 4 top ten singles. Despite having the minimalistic approach on stage, there is nothing small about RÜFÜS’s gargantuan sound which fills the room as the crowd sing along to ‘Tonight’, ‘Desert Night’ and ‘Take Me’. With an abundance of deep lighting to assist in creating that mysterious atmosphere through the vibrant intermittent red and blue lights gliding across the stage accompanied by billowing haze entices the audience to get lost in their catchy and dreamesque music. Lindqvist’s vocals are spine-chillingly enchanting and full of heart, wonderfully complimented by tinny drum beats. RÜFÜS have a great ability to turn the entire room into a massive dance floor as they guide the crowd through a wave of emotions accentuated by the euphoric and vibrant atmosphere that they so effortlessly create.
These guys have got what it takes, the sound, the showmanship and the professionalism to put on an unbelievable performance.
The crowd in attendance were hypnotised from the moment Rufus stepped on stage, the light show was fantastic, sound check was perfect and they offered an incredible mix of their new and older music.
Even the rain stopped for the entire of the performance, I would go see them again in a second. The support bands were awesome the female vocalist from Lastlings has an incrediable voice for such a tiny person and really gave it her all.

Set was a bit short and missing some of the stand out tracks from Atlas, i.e. Sarah and Imaginary Air.
Apart from that, all the tunes were well performed and used that Rufus sound that you would think could only be done in a studio.
The tracks from the new album Bloom sounded good and these are now starting to grow on me.
Heaven is a great venue, though not so wonderful for short people as the stage isn't that high and the floor doesn't slope. But hey, that's life when you're a shorty. There was a good atmosphere, helped by half the audience being Australian.
When's the next one? Thoroughly enjoyable.
Even better live! They are the best kind of show to go to ... the group has good energy and strong personalities that show beyond the stage. They were a very inclusive group and for those who haven't heard of them before the show found themselves following and dancing. Amazing. Give me more. Hope to see them at Surf Lodge this summer on a Sunday.
Enchanting venue, great warm-up, real Berliner audience and finally, the right music to make you feel warm in the cold autumn days. I totally recommend attending the concerts of Rüfüs. The music and the whole setup will make you dance and turn off your brain, at least for 90 minutes!

An eclectic mix of jazz, drum & bass and humming electronic beats, Rufus is a passionate, gracious band with an equally passionate crowd of polite, enthusiastic fans! The light show was just as visually stimulating as the music! One of my top ten bands to see live!
Received 2 encores from Asheville audience. Gave a solid extended rendition of "You Were Right". Rüfüs kept us moving and sweating to some thoughtful, yet lively EDM, with a little trance and chill thrown in the cocktail. Would welcome these Aussies back anytime.
Incredible night. Opener went hard and deep right from the get go... got the crowd moving and grooving right away. Second act was original and surprising, experimental and progressive. Rufus was mind blowing and played a well put together and high energy set. 10/10
