Biografia

  • Los Angeles, US, based DJ/producer, John Borger, known by his stage name, Borgeous, has made waves with his house-centered EDM, gaining an international hit with the 2013 single, "Tsunami."

Recording music since the early 2000s, Borgeous began to find success in the music industry by 2011, after being heavily involved with the Boulevard Nightlife Group, gaining a keen insight into what makes a big hit. His early releases, "From Cali With Love," "Rags to Riches," "Aggro" and "Gangsterous" piqued the interest of the burgeoning EDM community, with Borgeous becoming a a name-to-watch on the scene.

Beginning his podcast, "I AM BORGEOUS" in 2012, Borgeous was able to gain exposure of his unique style through a number of remixes, gaining significant online support. Borgeous also signed with the labels, Spinnin' Records and Doorn, providing the producer with a platform through which to release his music.

Global success arrived in 2013, after his collaborative single with DVBBS, "Tsunami," made waves internationally, topping the charts in the UK, Belgium and the Netherlands. This smash hit led Borgeous to perform at major festivals across the world, raising his profile amongst EDM fans internationally. Teaming up again with DVBBS, as well as Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike, "Stampede" arrived later that year, finding significant support from DJs globally. Another popular track followed in 2014, with "Invincible," featuring vocals from Julia Michaels. Also that year, a remix of "Tsunami" saw UK rapper Tinie Tempah lending his vocal talents to the track, helping Borgeous find new fans and further chart success with his already successful single.

  • Borgeous

Borgeous’s ‘Tsunami’ is the musical equivalent of flu-season: between it’s world exclusive play on Pete Tong’s Radio One show in 2013 and it’s 2014 revival with lyrics from Tinie Tempah, the song has spread like wildfire all over the world. Even if you don’t actively know it, you’re guaranteed to have come into contact with this show-stopping tune at some point over the last year. Tsunami’s epic drops and addictive loops were always destined to chart all over the world, and it’s place as a dance music staple is undisputed.

It kind of goes without saying given what a big, energetic track ‘Tsunami’ is, but as soon as Borgeous starts on the ones and twos, your body knows it’s time to start jumping. With tracks like ‘Invincible’, ‘Wildfire’, and ‘Breathe’ you’ll be up all night and loving each and every second. Each element of a Borgeous set is a huge production. The lighting, sound system and venue are always cultivated to create the ultimate dance environment. Don’t assume that the huge venues Borgeous DJs in means that you’re guaranteed to get a ticket, though. This DJ is only getting hotter by minute, so secure yourself a place at one of his shows now.

  • Wasn't able to see him live when we were at EDC (scheduling conflicts). So, I was happy to see that I'd have a chance when he came to DC.

I get that the show probably wasn't adequately promoted and, therefore, not well-attended. But, regardless of the number of tickets you pre-sell or how many people are in front of your console when you come out on stage, you *gotta* do more than just phone it in. When people come out to see you, they expect a better performance than what they'll get on SoundCloud or YouTube. Especially when you're the headlining act, playing ninety minutes of 30-60 second intros - especially where the segments are incompatible with each other for dancing - is just going to piss off the people that bothered to come out to see you. It's going to make it that much harder to get *more* people to come out to see you if you ever decide to make a return to that city.

I gotta say, if Borgeous ever comes back to DC as a headliner, I won't be buying tickets. And, if he's at another festival I go to, I'm not going to bother even penciling him in on the "acts I'd kinda like to see" list.

  • John Borger better known by his stage name Borgeous may have only appeared on the circuit in 2012 yet his reputation and career have expanded at a lightning pace. His big room and future house sounds have the whole venue jumping along in a sense of complete enthusiasm and ecstatic joy. Meanwhile his appearances at some of the world's most esteemed dance festivals, his show is always well attended and when you look out onto the sea of thousands all under the command of one musician, you realise Borgeous is destined for huge things.

The size of the audience never seems to bother John as he is totally involved in mixing and making sure he makes the most of the huge drops and building crescendos. When you look out to the crowd in constant movement it would seem he is doing a fantastic job as the dancing never stops as he intermingles his original tracks with dance floor fillers and back to remixes of Afrojack and Havana Brown. It seems undoubted Borgeous will break through to the charts and with a following as large as this, he has a winning combination.

  • Omg Borgeous did it again!!!! This is the second time I have seen him at Sound Garden Hall and it was just amazing as the first time. Not only did he pull off another fabulous show he brought a friend with him and crowded surfed him, now you might be thinking okay we have seen that but this friend had a disability and was in a wheelchair, what a great sport his friend was to trust everyone not to drop him. This goes to show you Borgeous not only cares about the music but also cares how music effects us all as people, the look on his face was priceless as he handed over his friend one of much love and happiness, I hope he felt the love and happiness back from all of us. Once again thank you for coming to Philly bc you made this PLUR Mom very happy and would love to see your show over and over, thanks to song kick for keeping me updated on all venues. Much Love PLUR Mom
