Mitis is the stage name of American dubstep, electro and dance record producer, Joe Torre, who arrived on the scene in 2012 and has been prodigiously releasing mixes and original tracks ever since, hailing from Media, Pennsylvania, U.S.
Beginning life as a classical pianist, Joe Torre played some of the world’s most revered venues, including New York’s Carnegie Hall and the Kimmel Centre in Philadelphia. After enjoying the buzz of such grand performances, Torre looked for other ways he could impact the music industry, subsequently pursuing his love for dubstep and electro. Infused with his playful piano melodies and classical production techniques, upon his first few releases, Mitis was established as a figurehead of EDM.
On top of his various mix releases, in 2011 Torre released his debut electro EP “What We Saw” issued by Forte Records. The same year, this time on Heavy Artillery Recordings, Mitis announced the release of a three-track EP “Give My Regards”, followed a year later by “Deliverance”. A string of further EPs followed including “Influential Past” in 2012, “Born” in 2013, and “Open Window” in 2013, as well as the single “Elixir”.
Going from strength to strength with a flourishing reputation, Mitis began playing to huge audiences around the world intent on hearing his “New Age Classical” music. In 2014 the producer issued a pair of EPs, “Touch” and “Oasis”, both of which earned positive reviews, after which he released the EP “Living Colour” in 2015. The single “Blu” followed later in 2015, as did his “Life of Sin Series” EP in July.
Leia maisIt’s all about this innovative DJ and producer, who goes by the name “MitiS”. Originally a classical pianist from Pennsylvania, he found his way into the electronic dance music scene, weaving some world-class piano playing with some dirty bass being his specialty.
This audience absolutely digs what he is doing, with at least 95% of them throwing their hands up to every drop adding to this euphoric atmosphere. One of the things that I will happily criticize him on is the fact that he doesn’t play classical piano live on stage. It’s fair enough that he played all of these, piano exerts and I don’t doubt that but seriously, what’s the harm in playing them live? Will it take his attention away from the play pause and skip track buttons?
Jokes aside, this audience is really feeling the atmosphere tonight, bouncing from the start to the end of this set, which really does have some fantastic moments with the contrapuntal melodies flying around.
I’ve been listening to Mitis for a couple years, and yesterday was the first day I seen him in person. I got to say, the 13 hour drive was worth it. I love his music so much, I got his music tattooed on me, but enough of me, him being solo on stage is epic! The sound quality, the bass, perfect! Mitis will always be the best Artist!
The warmth and wholesomeness that comes from MitiS's music and the shows he curates are unlike anything you've heard. Drove 2 hours one way to see him last time, driving 4 and a half hours one way to see him again.
Best night of my life !! I love Mitis!!! Great first experience to finally have him here in Houston!!! I will never forget this day !!!! I love you Mitis!!!!!
Oh man. It was his last set of the tour and it was amazing! I got to meet him and talk with him for a bit. He was so great! Totally spiritual experience
