Biografia

  • House, electro, Pop. Songwriter, producer, musician and DJ. These are the credits that Madeon owns and has been providing us with since 2009 from Nantes, France.

Madeon first became known in 2011 when he live sampled 39 hits to create his frantic yet

perfectly sculptural “Pop Culture,” which instantly propelled the then-17-year-old to the

international stage. By the time he released his debut album Adventure in 2015, Madeon was a

globally beloved artist with production credits for Lady Gaga and Coldplay. Soon after, he

teamed with Porter Robinson for “Shelter,” an immersive, ecstatic single he calls their “victory

    lap.”

Now, Madeon is perhaps a more deeply seasoned artist than wide-eyed dreamer from Nantes,

France -- but he’s just as ambitious as ever.

“All My Friends” is the radiant introduction to this new era. It’s the sort of pop song that by any

other artist, would have required work from a team of writers and producers. Madeon, of course,

wrote and produced it himself. Following the path he began on Adventure with songs like

“Home,” he is the lead vocalist on the track.

Madeon began working on “All My Friends” when he booked a studio for three days in New York

“just to see what would happen,” he says. “I remember I was walking alone, and the sun was a

particular shade. It struck me all at once, vividly. It was like a flavor: sounds and sights and

smells. I felt impossibly confident and enthusiastic.”

Madeon can seem as much a musician as a world-building architect, and there’s no question his

full vision for what comes next will soon shine through. But for the moment we have a single

song, a brilliant statement of new purpose.

  • At the tender age of twenty, Hugo Pierre Leclercq is younger than most - many of his contemporaries included, as well as your humble reviewer - but that hasn’t stopped him from making a serious mark on the house music scene in his native France; hailing from Nantes, the youngster better known as Madeon has shaken up the movement in a serious way. He’s been making music from when he was just eleven years old, when he got into trance - trance! He was eleven! - and put together compositions under the name of DJ Deamon, but it was in 2011 that he really came to the fore, with his ‘Pop Culture’ video on YouTube; it clocked up in excess of six million views in just a few days. Since then, he’s released a debut single ‘Icarus’, and an EP titled The City to widespread critical acclaim; in an almost comical twist of irony, both have proved big hits in clubs that he’s barely old enough to gain admittance to. That might explain, actually, why he’s hit the festival circuit so hard, playing to massive crowds at the likes of Creamfields last summer to rapturous reviews; there’s hints of that old trance element in his set, but he mainly channels the fresh French house sound that he pioneered so knowingly - this kid could well be the future of the genre.

  • A master in creating a hedonistic, surreal dance experience, Hugo Pierre Leclercq is talented beyond his years. At just 20 years old, Madeon achieved his first international hit in 2012 which is considered an incredible feat for a new artist. With the EDM/dance circuit welcoming new talents such as Martin Garrix, Madeon is in a great position to begin his career.

Now filling arenas and festival tents around the world, the young musician has great energy within his shows and a plethora of hits including 'Technicolor' and 'The City' to keep his crowds moving. The brilliant, bright light display he has had engineered to emphasise his music works brilliantly and the ominous pulsating diamond that sits behind his decks adds to the surrealistic atmosphere.

By dropping in dance favourites by the likes of Justice as well as remixes of Blur to the show it keeps the entire audience jumping and dancing as one. It is his first major single 'Icarus' which affectionately receives the greatest cheer and Madeon is clearly incredibly thankful to his audience for this.

  • Absolutely amazing. Visuals were astounding and the effects, visual and physical (streamers, confetti) were some of the best I've seen. At the end, everyone shouted "One more song" and they actually did it.

Robotaki and Danger played for a bit longer than they were supposed to, but honestly I don't care about that. Longer shows are awesome, anyways. More music!

On the merch side, the merch is absolutely high quality. Unisex tees feel a bit weird, but I'm sure if they could afford men and women's tees they would. The posters were signed by both of them, and there was a LOT of posters. I was waiting for half an hour in the merch line, and even after they've sold 100 posters, they were STILL signed. It's great that they care about their fans and whatnot. Putting that much time into signing posters must be really time-consuming and boring. What was weird though, was that tees were $40, unlike some other shows they've had (some were $30), while the rest of the merch was the same price as the other shows.

  • TL;DR: it.was.freaking.amazing.

It was a very distinctive, immersive, and amazing experience watching Madeon perform. The visual aspect of the show was just breathtaking: the colourful visual effects on the big screen and well-synchronized lighting effects truly elevated this show to another level. His performance were exceptional: the theatrical aspect of his performance was executed very well, his dancing and movements on stage were very pleasant to watch and seemed very natural, he was just owning the stage and having fun. His music was breathtaking: every single track was mixed exceptionally well, track transitions were very fluid, there were numerous jaw-dropping moments for me when I felt completely astounded and was immersed in the moment. I enjoyed every second of his show and could not stop feeling awed for days. I cannot wait to see his next show.

  • Openers were meh. The first guy really didn't match the style of music then the others, but the crowd was into it. The second opener was okay, more along the right style, but nobody was really paying attention to him. They dragged on too, an hour each, starting at 8 PM on a Tuesday. Madeon and Porter Robinson didn't hit the stage until 10:15-10:30, and their set was only an 1:15 long.

But WOW was it worth the wait. The music was fantastically mixed between the two of them, and with the Electronic Drum Kit for PR, and the cymbals for Madeon, it was cool to see them actually participating with the music.

The light show was one of the most fluid lighting designs I've ever seen, great work there.

Fantastic concert, definitely worth the wait!

  • Finally! I had a couple of chances in the past to catch Madeon in the past but for some reason or another I was unable to but I'm really glad I was able to this time. He opened up with "Isometric" and then continued on with "you're on" which had everyone amped up. I really enjoyed when he did his pop mashup that he did on youtube, for me that was probably the highlight of the show, for anyone who is not sure whether or not to check him out i would say do it, you won't regret it.

  • Seeing Madeon and Porter Robinson in concert was, magical. The two openers were amazing, (San Holo and someone else) When shelter started playing, everyone started singing and it made me cry honestly. Both Madeon and Porter put together a very amazing tour, and I did cry. I cried a lot after that. I bought the official poster and i got one of the 12 foot long streamers that fell during the end of the show. All in all, it was the most amazing experience of my life.

  • Your show was so sick! The way you presented the visuals of what you were DJing to the audience was very different for me, and you did an amazing job remixing some of you already fresh originals. Sorry that you had to experience technical difficulties at Opera last night during and delaying the show. But that didn't impact the show at all, and in fact made it seem more raw and original of a performance.

Keep doing what your are doing Madeon!

  • The one day it snows where I live is the day the show is. I couldn't make it there and songkick couldn't do anything about it. A refund would've been great but instead all they said was that they're sorry I was unable to make it. Next time I buy tickets to something, I'm buying them from ticketmaster, because at least I can sell or transfer my tickets on there instead of letting them go to waste...
