  Eric Lindell's sweet, soul-drenched blues sounds as if it is coming right out of a Louisiana bayou, oozing with laid back grooves yet heavy jams to get your lip curling. His performance at the Empire Control Room in Austin, Texas, was perhaps not the most ideal venue for his music, catering to more electronica/hip hop acts, but nonetheless Lindell's music swooned throughout the venue, immersing the audience with his music. His talents were allowed to shine through a stripped-back band, accompanied by a double bassist, drums and a saxophonist, providing the perfect set up for his roots-blues. It was a captivating performance, featuring a number of songs from his new album "Sunday Morning." "Bayou Country" was a highlight, with heavy rhythm and bus vibes permeating throughout the track. Then Lindell looked to gospel with his hit "Love's Gonna Live Here" which created this communal feel in the crowd, a sense of togetherness as we al looked to enjoy Eric's music. Musically, Lindell is very talented, yet he does not use his music as a platform to show off his virtuosity. Instead it is always tasteful, playing the right notes exactly when needed. His stage presence lit up the venue, garnering a real focus of attention from the crowd upon him as he played through his set. It was a master class in Louisiana-vibe blues with a quintessential southern sound. He is a terrific performer and I would not hesitate to go see one of his shows.

• Saturday night on the Russian River.... Thank you Lagunitas Brewing Co. All the nice folks that worked to feed us. Thank you Gold Coast Coffee & Bakery.

  The show got off to a rough start due to some electronics problems, but it was solved. Eris once again put on a great show. Great crowd of folks, a lot of them were locals, and friends/family of Eric I believe. He looked like he was having as much fun as the crowd was. I know I had a wonderful time. I saw old friends that I had not seen for 14 -15 years. It just was a warm feeling all around, except for the cold beer. Free. I was also re-united with my E.L. groupie and the most beautiful lady I know, shamsia... We danced all night.

  Thanks Eric and band we'll see ya Friday night in Cloverdale.

• What can you say? Eric Lindell is a show to be seen by everyone! He is a fantastic singer/song writer and performer. He gets people up on the dance floor and keeps them there all night! Another great show! Thank you Eric for shariing of yourself through your music - and a heartfelt thank you to your wife and family for encouraging you to continue to do so. (And your son will do great things as well - what a treat to see you two play together last night at the Mojo Kitchen, Jacksonville). Jack and Colleen

• Eric Lindell was amazing! music was superb! The sound equipment was causing a lot of problems and the mic was giving off annoying feedback. Not sure why it doesn't get fixed in the sound check or why it works for the previous act. But...that was just minor.

  So enjoyed the night anyway. Hope he returns.
