Biografia

  • Jake Edwin Kennedy (born 28th February 1994), better known as Jake Bugg, is an English singer-songwriter hailing from Clifton, Nottingham, UK.

It’s difficult to believe that Bugg actually only just turned twenty earlier this year; it already feels as if he’s been around for quite some time now, thanks in no small part to the sheer ubiquity of his self-titled debut record. In fact, it was only released in October of 2012, but the success of singles like “Lightning Bolt” and “Two Fingers” helped cement Bugg’s reputation as Britain’s most promising young troubadour. His outspoken attitude - he readily presented himself as a chart-worthy alternative to the musicians turned out by the likes of The X Factor - and no-nonsense musical approach have endeared him to an ever-burgeoning fanbase, and the runaway success of his chart-topping first album allowed him to decamp to Los Angeles and work with legendary producer Rick Rubin on his follow-up, “Shangri-La”.

That, too, went in at number one on the UK charts, and he’s capitalized on that by playing his first ever UK arena shows this year, proving that the hype that surrounded him when he made impressive performances at major festivals and on Later...with Jools Holland two years ago was justified. With his whole career still ahead of him, Bugg is no flash in the pan - work’s already underway on album number three.

  • Jake Bugg

I have been longing to see Jake live since he burst onto the scene with his brilliant debut album back in 2012. Finally I was lucky enough to get one of only 600 odd tickets for this intimate show at Village Underground. The venue is great and even people at the back of the room would have felt close enough to feel fully engaged.

'Georgie' provided the support and warmed the audience up nicely even if she was nearly 45 minutes late on stage, a fact she was reminded of my one impatient punter.

After Georgies short set I feared an equally short one by Mr Bugg as time was pressing on but my fears were allayed as Jake played for 75 minutes almost without taking breath. His one fault being his lack of personal connection with 'his' crowd. 'Here's a new one', 'here's an old one' was pretty much his only interjection'

He opened with 'On my one' a short but sour song that felt heartfelt as his voice crackled through the evening air. Bugg has a 'marmite' voice that some might hate but he sings with meaning and it suits his musical style to a tee. The beautiful 'simple pleasures' from second album 'Shangri la' was a highlight for me but 'seen it all' maybe even topped that? It wasn't all about the familiar songs though as Jake tried out several songs from his anticipated new album ( due out in June apparently) and the evening ended with 'gimme the love' his new single which sounded so much better live than the one listen I have had of his free download. Jake is an accomplished performer and it's easy to forget that he is only just turned 22. He started a little nervously but grew as the night went on and sent his fans including me home happy despite the surprising lack of an encore. He was worth the wait.

  • Jake Bugg is one of the hottest new singer songwriters on the scene right now. He is a throw back to some of the most influential musicians in rock music, folk, and bluegrass specifically. With influences like Donovan, Neil Young and Cash, you can imagine he would be a heck of a live performer as well.

I was lucky enough to see him in a live acoustic performance recently. It was a fairly small venue, but it was packed to the edges with people excited to hear this new voice in music. You could really feel the anticipation in the room.

When Jake took the stage, just him and his guitar, the crowd went wild before he even had a chance to strum a chord. Once he did start playing, he didn’t stop. He played quite a few songs including “Trouble town”, Two Fingers”, “Country Song”, and “Broken” each building in energy.

He had the audience in the palm of his hand when he announced the final song “Lightning Bolt”. Everyone jostled for better position and packed in around the stage. Jake played the song to perfection. Dripping sweat and yelling over his picking, Jake finished the song and thanked us all for coming out. The perfect end to an absolutely killer set!

  • You know that peculiar feeling of being invested in something that you might or might not have experienced. A small tinge that is unknown but you could project its existence to your consciousness and identify it well enough as something?

I felt that during his gig - in his presence and in his voice.

Jake Bugg’s articulate performance was just as if all of his feelings seamlessly crane in generosity to be surfaced, each and every time of every song and these are translated in his voice. His singing is always honest.

The details in his voice they don't just overwhelm him, they lapse you in your own self. They soak you in discovering what you feel, how you feel, the events that transpired to make you feel so. The soul in his voice makes you feel home.

He was exceptionally phenomenal. He sounded better live. No, scratch that. He sounded CELESTIAL live. The studio recordings don't even do him the justice he deserves because he deserves so much more.

Broken mellows me in ache. Almost as if I can feel the pain in the song. I am waiting with undiluted love for him to come and play for us again. Thank you for existing, I love you.

  • I have wanted to see Jake Bugg live for quite a long time (as soon as his first album came out actually) so the expectations were pretty high and the chance of being disappointed too.

The gig was great, if you closed your eyes during the concert and ignored all the people shouting/singing it's really like listening to recorded version of the songs.

He's not really a one man show (but I don't think he would be the Jake Bugg we know and love if he was) but everyone was charmed and couldn't keep his eyes off this guy playing his guitar(s). I loved that he played loads of the old stuff and didn't exclude any of his masterpieces (which is really common among artists).

What I really enjoy most about him is that he's still very genuine, dressed like a normal person, shy like a normal person and really down-to-earth (he was even helping bringing stuff on the stage before the concert and removing it after, which I found quite surprising 'cause I've never seen anyone doing it before him).

If you're in doubt on whether to spend your money on Jake Bugg, go for it, it's totally worth it.

  • Jake Bugg was absolutely fantastic. He he a very talented young man. His songs are brilliant weather he's singing his fast paste songs or his slow accustic ones. There was such a wonderful atmospher through out the whole gig. Everyone enjoyed it & sang along to all his songs. His new songs are really good to & I can't wait for his new album to come out next year. After the show I waited outside with a few people to meet Jake & he didn't disappoint. He is such a lovely man and he took the time to talk to me, sign my cd covers have a couple of pictures taken with me and to top it off he even gave me a couple of hugs. I'm so glad I went to see him for the first time but it definitely won't be the last and I can't wait for him to do his next tour as I will be one of the first to buy my ticket. Overall it was one fantastic night from start to finish. JAKE BUGG is a must see artist for all ages

  • Jake Bugg has the reputation of being moody and not at all chatty, and yes he did live up to this reputation at Alexandra Palace. Interesting enough the most he said was 'you've been alright for a London crowd'. Regardless his performance were basically faultless. You were there for the music and that is what you got. From 'Slumville Sunrise' to 'Two Fingers', there was a good range of songs, despite only being on for an hour and fifteen, leaving the crowd puzzled and waiting without an encore.

Being there for the music in the spectacular venue that is Alexandra Palace, it was an amazing evening and worth every penny.

  • GOOD VIBES :D

Jake Bugg was AMAZING, first time seeing him and i would definitely see him again.I love the fact that he played heaps of his old songs and not just all of his new stuff. The organisation of the event was brilliant, we didn't have to wait too long for transitions in between acts and the enviroment was appropriate in terms of acoustics. Overall i got a great impression of Jake Bugg, personality wise and he connected with the audience very well.

Love the Palais, however needed to stand up and dance to the music a lot more, it was nice being able to stand up at the end for his last song :)

  • I saw Jake at Sziget Festival in 2014. He was incredible. I keep on reminding that moment whenever I´m sad. That day was so great, I know I´m not gonna forget it. I higly recommend this singer and his band. You won´t regret any kind of prize for his performance. Mainly the ones who love similar music Jake makes. The ones who are into older melodies mixed with (his) beautiful English voice. And what surprised me in the most positive way, the guys (males) were singing his songs passionately and with pride. They seemed to enjoy the gig much more than girls! Just awesome!

  • First time watching Jake Bugg and was a really good night, the two supporting bands were amazing and really got the crowd energised and involved. Jake Bugg's was really amazing and and the roof erupted with people singing along climaxing with lightning bolt which almost brought the roof down. I only have 2 down points on the night with Jake Bugg; 1) when he spoke the sound settings made him hard to understand. 2) he did very little to get the crowd involved or interact with them. All in all a fantastic night would give it a 7.5 out of 10 would see again.

  • Went to the gig at Cardiff Student Union Great Hall - Absolutely amazing performance! We were right at the front so got some amazing vids/photos without having to look at our phones the whole time. Jake’s performance was incredible! He is so talented & I loved that he played a mix of his oldest & newer songs & even some for a future record! The opening act, ONR, was brilliant as well; so glad I’ve found another great artist to add to my playlist. Overall an incredible night & I look forward to going to see Jake Bugg many times again in the future !!
