After a decade of cutting his teeth in the trenches of the Midwest music scene, David Cook immediately launched to stardom following his American Idol Season 7 win
– breaking several Billboard chart records when 14 of his songs debuted on the Hot Digital Songs chart and 11 of his songs debuted on the Hot 100. Cook has since gone on to sell more than 2 million albums (including his platinum-certified eponymous album) and, collectively, more than 5 million tracks (including two platinum-certified singles) worldwide. After a move to Nashville, TN, David continued to find success, not only for himself (his 2015 studio album, DIGITAL VEIN, debuted in the top 5 on the Billboard Pop Chart) but also as a writer for other artists. Cook continues to tour throughout the world in support of his multiple hits.
2018 brought an exciting new EP from Cook – CHROMANCE and, if putting out his 2018 EP wasn’t enough to keep Cook busy, that same year he headed to the Great White Way for his Broadway debut as Charlie Price in KINKY BOOTS. And he has no plans to slow it down. “I love creative endeavors. I like starting with nothing and then finishing with something that didn’t exist before. That’s my favorite thing about creating new music. I love being able to put something artistic out in the world for people to enjoy.”
And that’s what he is doing. In 2020, David released two new singles. The first, REDS TURN BLUE, is a nod to the manic highs (reds) and lows (blues) of anxiety, something David has struggled to overcome since his season seven win on American Idol. And the second, STRANGE WORLD, is "my homage to this year," said David. "Staring out of windows at the world outside, feeling disconnected from it, and trying to find those moments that would normally exist outside, inside." Both singles, along with the driving FIRE are from his EP, THE LOOKING GLASS, released in April 2021.
In April 2022, David released his latest single, TABOS (This'll All Be Over Soon). The single's release coincided with his return to the American Idol stage to perform for their special 20th-anniversary reunion show.

This was my 6x seeing David in concert, but first time meeting him! He was very nice and autographed my CD and let me get a picture of us with my cell phone. I was a little disappointed that I didn't have more time to speak with him, and was moved along quickly because of the amount of people in line. David also apologized to the crowd that he had a bad headache and could have been more personable. (OK - Dave, I will let you pass this time, LOL)
Now onto the important stuff - the music! Andrew Ripp opened for David. He was the perfect man for the job! He worked the crowd and has an amazing voice! I will be buying some of his music now that I heard of this gem.
As for Mr. Cook - what can I say, the man is just amazing! He sang songs from all his CDs - "Come Back to Me"' , "Declaration", "Paper Heart", "Broken Windows"', "Criminals", "Kiss and Tell", "Laying Me Low", "Better Than Me"', "Wicked Games", etc. The rawest moment is the show was when David sang "Permanent"; This song makes reference to his late brother Adam who died from Brain Cancer. David sang with such raw emotion, and said how difficult it was to sing that song, and I know that was difficult! Kudos to you for singing it beautifully!
David is a true showman, the man engages with his audience and truly does everything he can to make the evening enjoyable! He is very appreciative of all his fans and charity followers.
David has one of the best voices in pop/rock, is an amazing singwritter, and is truly underrated! I highly encourage someone to see his shows! I just wish him continued success and hope more people discover this amazing singer!

David Cook won a little show called American Idol back in 2008, so based on that alone, you know you can anticipate an phenomenal show from a genuinely great live musician. During his sets, you can expect to find Cook and his badass bandmates performing an array of tracks from his two studio albums, "David Cook" and "This Loud Morning", his independently released songs, and a dash of totally ace 80s jams (a decade which just happens to be his covers specialty).
His music encompasses a wide range of influences from 90s grunge-alternative to modern day rock-pop, covers themes of love, loss, and life, and are instrumentally-driven by guitar and piano. Suffice to say, Cook makes sure to offer something for everyone.
From 2008-2011, I've seen Cook perform in gigantic arenas and intimate theatres/clubs, and no matter where the stage is, he is always on and ready to deliver a rockin' show. Not only is Cook a talented singer/songwriter, he is also witty, gracious, and kind-hearted.
Every year, Cook participates in the Race for Hope marathon in Washington, DC in honour of his late brother, who lost his fight against brain cancer in 2009. He is a steadfast supporter for charity initiatives related to brain cancer research.
For all of those reasons and more, David Cook is one artist you must not miss out on whenever he's in town!
What can I say, the man can ENTERTAIN! David puts on one heck of a show, his new CD “CHROMANCE” is rocking! His vocals were haunting on Ghost Magnetic, Gimme Heartbreak, Warfar, the Lucky Ones, and Circles. His new band was awesome, Jeff’s backup vocals compliment David niicely. He also played my a variety of songs from his other Cds....Comeback to Me, Declaration, Love is a Four Letter Word, Criminals, Wait for Me, Laying Me Low, Heros. Paper Heart.
The charming Mr. Cook David also did usual banter with the crowd; thanking them for their continued support of his music through the years; this is an artist who truly appreciates his fans and is a genuine nice guy (I can attest to that, as I have met him, and seen him in concert 12x). David also announced that he was heading to broadway to take on one of the lead roles in Kinky Boots....is their anything this man can’t do?
I STRONGLY recommend hearing this artist in concert if you get the chance and take a listen to his music.....he is an independent artist who is one true talent.
There is a debate regarding singer/songwriters who found their fame on the back of a reality TV show platform as you question their credibilities to then head out onto the live circuit in already elevated stage spaces. American Idol victor David Cook luckily has knowledge and experience of the small stages and the struggle to proceed, the television programme simply shed light upon his great talents.
The rock singer has a likeable confidence as he addresses the crowds and remains humble with guitar in hand and a number of accompanying. There are no huge production values which are often affiliated with other reality winners, instead you simply have a very authentic musician with a strong back catalogue and solid live performance style. The audience remains engaged throughout as David keeps them very much at the centre of the operation before closing on his synonymous re-imagination of 'Billie Jean' by Michael Jackson and his own 'Come Back to Me'.
We had "Meet & Greet" tickets for David's concert...and I've had a "countdown" going since 10 a.m. on June 16th.
David was his usual stellar performer, putting on an INCREDIBLE show! He said that he really likes the venue (Amaturo Theater) and it a GREAT venue. It's indoor, and a Concert Hall, but due to its size, it allows for an intimate setting, that allows for banter between David & the audience! (I even commented to my husband on the way home how many times David TRULY laughed during the show!) He is warm, friendly, and very grateful for his life.
He welcomed my husband, son and myself with hugs, and handshakes for them.
I didn't need anything to aid in my feelings, *(and last night was the 7th time we've seen him!) after the show last night, I am forever changed!

Voted for him when he was on American Idol! He continues to be the best and supersedes my expectations! I have all his music. I really enjoy his concerts as he communicates with his audience's during his performances! He is an "A" list performer. I listen to his lyrics and the way he sings each word with compassion! He is an asset to the music industry! I am proud to be a fan of his now and always! Bottom line he sings the best!
That concert was worth every penny. Admittedly, I'm not the biggest fan of his last album, but I loved Analog Heart and his self titled album, as well as being a huge fan of him on Idol. However, his voice is so good live, like he could sing the phonebook and I'd pay to watch it. The show was sick (even though the audience was mostly middle aged chicks). Go see him. It's worth it.
I was lucky enough to see him 6 times on the #DigitalVeinTour. Every concert is different because the set list is made up of a variety of songs each night. David is funny with the banter and keeping the audience in check.. It really is a great experience each time. My favorite songs are Home Movies,Heartbeat and Laying Me Low. I also like Wait For Me.
Another great show with all new band members! They compiled requests before the show (combination of David hits songs from and other arts favorites!) We even got a chance to hear David New Song "Gimme HeartBreak".
The benefit raised over $100,000 for finding a cure towards Accelerated Brain Cancer!

He was fantastic. He is my favorite contestant that Amercian Idol ever produced. His voice and his talent are unbelievable!!. His new material is really very good. I would go see him again when he comes back to the area. His opener Andrew Ripp was very talented, funny and down to earth. I enjoyed him as well
