Took a trip from Ireland to England for this gig.
The venue was the Robin 2 in Bilston, West Midlands.
First the support act was Laurence Jones. A young English guy, he gave a storming good performance and really got the (small) crowd warmed up for the main attraction. I was surprised to see Samantha Fish's drummer, Go Go Ray up there playing for him.
The bigger surprise was that his bassist, Roger Innes was also doing a double stint.
When Samantha appeared onstage, the same rhythm section came back on stage with her.
Her set was everything I had hoped for, strong and brilliantly performed.
At this point I should mention that the sound system and crew at the Robin 2 are possibly the best quality I have ever heard in nearly 40 years of watching live gigs.
It was loud enough and pin sharp - perfect to my ears.
Samantha's set was great, and her singing and playing were faultless, with a stunning acoustic section in the middle, excellent stuff and worth the trip to see the show.
She closed with Laurence Jones joining her onstage for some jamming and riff - trading fun. Very enjoyable.
Next time I hope she can come to Ireland, preferably Belfast, save me a long journey!!
This had to be one of the best concerts, venue and acts, that I have been to lately. The 3rd and Lindsley venue had excellent acoustics, food, beverages, and service. We had 2 hours to eat and drink before the show. The food, we had chicken strips and fries, were freshly cooked and quite tasty. Although the room is quite packed when full, there was no problem moving around the room. The service was surprisingly fast and accurate. The server was attentive and pleasant. NOW...the best part. The entire show was broadcast live on local radio. Johnathon Long came out and played superbly. His talent was evident. By the end of his set, we were ready for more. Without hardly any wait Samantha Fish and band came out and proceeded to rock us out. She plays the blues but rock n roll exudes from her singing and playing. She played a set with her well-known songs and an encore. Afterward, she met and greeted any and all who wanted to say hello personally. I am planning to attend more of her shows in the future.
Saw Samantha last night at the classic 100 year old Neptune Theatre in Seattle. She was back up to Marc Broussard. She played 60 minutes and it was non-stop top gear. Her band included a horn section and every band member was top notch. Surprising that Samantha is not much better known given that she sings and writes with incredible talent and once she starts to shred with her guitars and pedals it is a whole new level of entertainment. She is not to be missed. She shows up in pink leather jacket and matching stiletto heels and looking like she is eye candy which too often attempts to mask a lack of musical skill. Very misleading as she could wear a burlap sack and it would not take too long to clue in that she is a special entertainer indeed. She was so good we left before Marc Broussard as no matter how good he may have been he would have seemed a step down from the level that Ms. Fish and her most excellent band raised the bar to. Oh, apart from all of this, she really is eye candy also!
What do I say without sounding like a breathless, groupie fan boy? There are shows and there are SHOWS. Last night was the latter.
It's with no exaggeration that I state I have seen probably the best show of the year, perhaps of many years. Samantha Fish has absolute mastery of her self; playing, singing,
movement, aura, presence. I don't think there's anything she can't do that's related to music.
I say without irony or sarcasm, if she wanted to shift gears and become a classical concert pianist, she would own it. I pity the piano that stands in her way. If you haven't seen her yet, go now. Spend the money, take your friends and just go. You'll be supremely happy you did.
Come back soon, Samantha!
It was my first experience with Samantha Fish and I had tickets for a table in the first row for her concert in "Portalen", Greve in Denmark.
It was the first concert of their Europe Tour 2017 and there were some small technical problems during the concert, but overall it was a great positive experience.
4 months ago I bought 3 CDs with Samantha Fish and they wanted me to experience her live and I have not regretted that.
I will be in the first row when she comes to Denmark again with her super band ... thats for sure.
It was a very mature audience with an average age of about 45-50 years ... it surprised me, but on the other hand ..... it's us old buggers who understand good music.
This was an excellent performance from Samantha Fish in front of a packed house. She gave a high-energy performance for over 90 minutes that had the crowd giving standing ovations several times. Loved the fact she used so many different types of guitars during the show: acoustic, several electric, and--this is a first for me---a cigar box electric guitar *and* an oil-can electric guitar. (I've seen those separately by other performers, but never by the same person in the same show!) Overall this was an excellent concert and I'm glad I went. I'll keep an eye open for future shows from her!
Simply awesome! New to her music, I was fortunate enough to get to see/hear/experience her this week and I think she is incredibly gifted on every axis; tunes, lyrics, musicianship, presentation, some kind of Jenny Hendrix. It was a fabulous evening despite suboptimal acoustics in the smallish SRO bar. She deserves a much larger stage with as much fame and fortune as she can handle. I'm a 65 year old physician and I'm thinking about quitting my job and following her band around. Not to be missed if you have ever liked any kind of music at any point in your life.
What can I say, virtually impressed, I have never seen her live before, heard of lately decided to go see show at Bottle Neck Blues Bar in Ameristar Casino, wow!! she is dynamic live, a crowd pleaser and toward end of shoe she had Devon Allman play a song with her, she is a good guitar plyer in her own right but to have Devon Allman play with her, wow!! What a show, I would recommend if you have not see n her, go see her she is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was really looking forward to seeing Samantha Fish for the first time. Always enjoy her music and videos. This was my first time at the Chandler Performing Arts Center. Bottom line: the sound mix was awful. The drums were up way too loud, the bass and horns too. The sound was muffled, not crisp. Samantha’s guitar was lost, except when she soloed without accompaniment. Her voice was terrific!! What a shame. I’ll try again!!
I saw Samantha Fish in Rochester October 21st. This was the 8th time that I have seen her. As always, a great show. 2 hours of non stop energy filled entertainment. She and her fantastic band put it all out there. After every show, she is available for picture taking, signing CD's and other merchandise. She is so nice. I can't wait to see her again and again. Awesome. Check her out.
