With four top ten hits to his name, and one of them being a number one, Wiley has cemented his reputation in the mainstream grime scene giving him the critically acclaimed title, Godfather of Grime.
Richard Kylea Cowie, born January 19th 1979, is widely known by his pseudonym, Wiley, but in his earlier career, “Wiley Kat. Hailing from Bow, Easy Landon he is a songwriter and record producer, who wears is Caribbean and Trinidad and Antiguan roots on his sleeve. He has surprisingly been on the scene for longer than you would assume having been a member of the UK Garage group Pay As U Go, who achieved a top 40 hit for the song Champagne Dance in 2001. A fantastic forward thinking artist is Wiley, always thinking about all of his endeavours at once, focussing on many projects, including his own.
It was when he released the single “Wot Do U Call It?” in 2004, which is from his album “Treddin’ on Thin Ice” that he created quite a stir in the charts, and it only got better from there over the years. His next big hit was a song called “Wearing My Rolex” in 2008, which made it to number 2 in the charts. Of course, his calling was the song “Heatwave” featuring Ms D, which made it to number 1 in the UK Singles Chart. Wiley continues to write, record release albums and tour and then repeat to this day.

Even while he was growing in popularity as an mc of the newly debuted grime underground scene, Wiley simultaneously produced multiple crossover hit singles that reached the top ten charts with songs like "Wearing My Rolex", "Never Be Your Woman", and "Heatwave".
After crashing onto the mainstream stage with his uncanny success, Wiley began collaborating with other UK artists earning him a reputation as a highly versatile artist. You can see Wiley's love for music when he performs live as he carries himself with a passionate and charismatic professionalism. Wiley loves to perform underground clubs and stays true to his hip hop roots as a recording artist and producer making him a fan favorite in the UK.
You'll be hard pressed to find a more devoted up and coming artist who has taken the world stage by storm with his talent and flows.
Out of the four hours that my friends and I were there, he was on for maybe 40 mins. Kept bringing on his ‘friends’ and some random ‘upcoming artists’. We paid to see Wiley perform, not his mates. Also, his show lacked passion, it was almost as if he was forced to be there. Kept running off back stage mid-song, and towards the end he asked if we wanted another song and then just put on a track of his and just left the stage. The general vibe was a bit off. But, out of the 40 mins in which he was actually on, he was pretty good.
Excellent show.. Sound system at koko has always been good.. Only gripe is that the show didn't go on for long.. Once wiley and P money, Frisco etc all started going in the show was more or less over
The venue was shocking, he was shocking the whole night was shite. He did a 35 minute set then fucked off, the place was rather small and grimm, would have rather have spent the night at home.
