  If you are planning on seeing a Lindstrom show don’t even think twice. Just go! He has captured all of the energy and charm of disco music and has intensified it to extents unimaginable. He processes wild polyrhythmic drumbeats, octave jumping bass lines and squirmy synth leads in an exciting and modern format with remnants of all things retro in tact.

  It is hard to believe that this audacious and inventive sound is simply filtered through an apple laptop, a few effects pedals and an interface, but when you are listening to the live renditions of his songs you tend not to question these things. Despite his minimal live set up there is much more that goes into these types of performances than you might think.

  Working with electronics can be tricky. You have to worry about cables coming loose, program crashes and hiccups in synchronization. Lindstrom pulls off his sets with such finesse that these potential difficulties don’t phase the audience in the slightest. They are simply to busy dancing themselves to death to notice or think about such things. How could you when driving drum pulses and catchy as hell melodies are blaring in your face? You have to understand that unlike traditional rock concerts electronic and DJ acts tend to shift focus away from the stage and on to the floor. While it is still interesting to see Lindstrom flit about with with his gadgetry, the experience is more about participation and interaction with the music rather than observation of the performing artists.

  The crowd at these shows can be some of the most unruly and this of course makes for a fascinating live concert experience. Part of the fun of a live show is to see how others react to the music. You can see people flailing about with over-exaggerated jerks or see them bobbing up and down in a state of trance. It all widely varies and absolutely is worth attending.

• There was no show! As we were queuing to get inside xoyo, we were informed by the door person that lindstrom had food poisoning and wasn't going to perform.

  You can imagine how me and all my friends who i invited to come, felt. Extremely disappointed.

  Will see for a refund as the show never happened.
