Seeing a folk, bluegrass, country band in NYC is an experience. Its great to see how many fans of that music genre there are in NYC. As soon as I walked into The Gramercy Theatre, I didn't feel like I was in the city anymore. There were flannels, cowboy boots and lots of Bud heavy. All that a bluegrass concert should look like.
I recently came across the band by discovering them on Spotify, so going in I only knew about 2 songs but I left the concert with so many favorites. The Turnpike Troubadours played their hearts out beginning with their biggest and my personal favorite, Every Girl. The energy onstage was contagious especially when the opening band, American Aquarium joined them on stage for 2 songs, drinks in hand, and you could see the chemistry between them.
I'm not going to brag, but they claimed that this NYC concert was the best one so far. I mean, who can argue with NYC. If you are looking for raw songs written by real musicians with a southern heart, go see Turnpike Troubadours.
They canceled 20 minutes after the doors opened only to reschedule for 3 days later which they would cancel again. Mind you Thursday's show was a show that was rescheduled when they canceled in November. They continue to announce new shows and sell tickets while steady canceling anything upcoming. Fans would be understanding if they were honest and canceled shows in advance when they know they won't be able to perform, but the constant bs excuses and shows canceled last minute are getting old.
I think the turnpikes were mildly surprised at the reaction they received from the crowd at the Oslo.it seemed they could do no wrong,
you cant help stomping along to Hillbilly
country rock,and we all did through the whole set. bit strange starting dead on 8pm and ending at 10pm and the sound was a little muddy after the Oslo boasting a great sound system.but the band were terrific and could play at a bigger venue hope they return soon
They were incredible. I so wish they had been able to play more than 4 songs. The songs are so well written, the vocals are perfect, & the musicians are stellar. It was such a pleasure to see The Turnpike Troubadours! We left when they were done. No interest in Little Big Town or Miranda Lambert. We gave our tickets to some nice people we meet.
This band is smoking hot. The Troubadours do not disappoint, they weave a show of fun and interaction with the crowd, along with some serious kickin music. Evan Felker, RC Edwards, Kyle Nix, Ryan Engleman and Gabe Pearson, put in the energy and work to create a show worth seeing anytime and anywhere. Do not miss this band.
Show was awesome. They had plenty of energy despite this being the last stop on their tour. They even played two encores, because the crowd was so into it. We've seen them twice now, and are never disappointed. The opener, Mike and the Moonpies was also outstanding, and Slim's in SF is a pretty cool place to see a show.
First time seeing them live. One of the best shows I've ever been to. Having it in a small venue like the Maze made it that much better. Was able to speak with a few of the band members after the show and they're great guys. You can tell this is something they do for the sheer joy of performing.
Great show, as usual. These guys are excellent musicians and make all their opening bands sound like amateurs. The sound quality is top notch. This is the 6th time I have seen them live. Loved hearing songs from their new album. I highly recommend taking any opportunity that see them live!!
Heck of a live show! Great crowd hype and involvement. Extremely high energy. Acoustics were on point. I would definitely see them again! Minglewood Hall was a suitable venue for the crowns size with plenty of standing room. Drinks were pricey at $6 a 16 oz beer, $7 mixed drink
Apparently the folks at SongKick are hiding under a rock and they asked me to review The Turnpike Troubadour show that was cancelled along with all the shows in November. You guys (songkick) really need to get better at what you do.
