Biographie

  • Faith Renée Evans is an award winning American R & B singer-songwriter, record producer, actress and author who began her career as a backing singer for Al B. Sure.

Faith was born in Florida and raised in New Jersey, however Evans relocated to Los Angeles in 1993 to pursue a career in the music business. Raised in a Christian home, Evans began singing at church at age two. At age 4, she caught the attention of the congregation of the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Newark when she sang The 5th Dimension's song 'Let the Sunshine In'. Her music passions pursued into later life, singing in several jazz bands whilst studying at University High School in Newark. After attending university for a year before dropping out to have a baby with music producer Kiyamma Griffin, she then relocated to Los Angeles in 1993 to become a backing singer for Al B. Sure.

Newly contracted to Bad Boy Records, she contributed writing and backing vocals to albums by Mary J. Blige and Usher before even starting her own career, so her credibilities in R & B already proceeded her. She achieved success over her recording career, her first two releases are now certified as platinum selling in the States and her highest charting record is 2005 LP 'The First Lady' which placed at number two on the US Billboard Charts and number one on the US R & B Charts. Among her highest charting singles is the 1998 release 'Love Like This' which peaked at #7 on the US charts and is now certified as gold selling. She could be described as an elusive touring artist due to her other work commitments and family ties. She broke her touring schedule from 1999 until to 2005 and then didn't take to the road again until 2010.

Her other pursuits included acting, including her most notable performance in the MTV-produced romantic comedy The Fighting Temptations in which she appeared in a brief but major role portraying a single mother and night club singer alongside Beyoncé Knowles. Evans also released her autobiographic book called 'Keep the Faith: A Memoir' on August 29, 2008 which is written with Aliya S. King. It detailed the singer's life, but also discussed Evans' controversial relationship with her late husband, the Notorious B.I.G.

Avis

  • Faith Evans

Her highly poignant appearance on Puff Daddy’s tribute single to the late Notorious B.I.G., ‘I’ll Be Missing You’, is probably what she’s best known for in the popular imagination, but scratch the surface and it’s quite apparent that there’s plenty more to Faith Evans than just being the widow of Biggie Smalls. In her own right, she’s a successful singer-songwriter, with her first three studio release, Faith, Keep the Faith and Faithfully (what’s her name again?) all going platinum, and spawning top ten hits like ‘Love Like This’ - which would later be sampled by Fatman Scoop on his international smash ‘Be Faithful - in the process. After a four year absence, Evans returned with a strong critical and commercial performance for The First Lady, and went on to tour the U.S. extensively, running through career-spanning sets than included, at the midpoint, an emotional homage to Biggie in the form of a medley of his hits. In 2010, Evans made her first UK appearances for over a decade, playing London, Manchester and, bizarrely, Ascot, and offering up a brand new setlist - with new cuts from her latest Something About Faith album included, and backed by a full live band, she kicked off with ‘Love Like This’ and included her classic Mos Def collaboration ‘Brown Sugar (Extra Sweet)’, too.

  • It was my first time going to an concert. Thanks to the organizers, the promoter, musicians it was a blessing and amazing night to see R&B queens owning the stage with love and expressing their vocal abilities. it was inspiring upcoming singers and also to believe in what we do and what we have.

Faith evans was beautiful, incredible voice, when she sang one of my favourites "soon as I get home" I felt uplifted and it gave me chills and also when she came on the stage everyone stood up. Thanks to other artist teedra Moses and slyeena Johnson for giving icing on the fake. Hope to see you again reunite at indigo2, it took me back in 90s R&B at its best. Thank you and May God bless you

  • She was phenomenal....what was very disturbing is they played her last...she didnt get to sing but 2 1/2 songs and was rushed off the stage...the other upsetting part about the concert was playing to much club/dj music instead of the actual performers
