Biographie

  • The Wanted (formed in 2009) is an unabashedly-pop, Anglo-Irish boy band who have enjoyed significant success with the No. 1 singles “All Time Low” and “Glad You Came”.

Born out of the creative mind that brought the world The Saturdays and Parade, The Wanted are a result of a mass auditions held by Jayne Collins. Taking over nine months, with over 1,000 auditions, the lineup was eventually cemented with singers Max George, Siva Kaneswaran, Jay McGuiness, Tom Parker, and Nathan Sykes. Soon after forming the band signed with Maximum Artist Management and Geffen Records, the latter of whom issued their debut single “All Time Low” in July 2010. Rising to No. 1 and spending 14 weeks in the charts, the record catapulted The Wanted to teenage consciousness across the UK and Ireland.

The singles “Heart Vacancy” and “Losing My Mind” were subsequently released, landing inside the Top 20, before the band embarked on their debut UK tour alongside Lawson, Twenty Twenty, and Starboy Nathan. The singles were taken from the band’s self-titled debut album, released in October 2010, which earned positive reviews from mainstream publications.

Having co-written 10 of the album’s 15 tracks, The Wanted’s sophomore album “Battleground” appeared in November 2011. Spawning the No. 3 single “Gold Forever”, No. 1 “Glad You Came”, No. 2 “Lightning”, and No. 21 “Warzone”, the record marked the band’s international breakthrough with singles charting in Australia and the U.S. Once again earning a positive reception, “Battleground” rose to No. 1 on the UK Albums Chart, selling just under 50,000 copies in its first week. In support of the record The Wanted opened for Canadian pop star Justin Bieber before supporting Britney Spears on her Femme Fatale Tour in Manchester, England.

A separate U.S release, “The Wanted: The EP” arrived in April 2012, supported by a promotional radio and club tour of America. The Wanted’s debut American single “Glad You Came” rose to No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and garnered sales of over three million. Led by the single “Chasing the Sun”, the Wanted’s third studio album “Word of Mouth” arrived in November 2013. Spawning the subsequent hits “I Found You”, “Walks Like Rihanna”, “We Own the Night”, and “Show Me Love (America)”, the album features guest contributions from Chris Brown, Rita Ora, and LMFAO.

  • The Wanted

Experiencing The Wanted live was simply one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. Now it may seem a bit strange that going to a concert would be classified as rewarding, but once you learn more about the band itself and my experience it will be crystal clear.

For four years The Wanted have created unique inspirational music that is meant to be heard, but most importantly felt. The lyrics to their songs can captivate an audience from all across the world and listening to them has been one of my favorite pastimes for long time. Not only do these five guys create beautiful music together but they are also extraordinary people! I have got to know this group through their daily messages on twitter, as well as their weekly video posts on youtube known as Wanted Wednesdays. These are 2 perfect examples of how the band feels about their fanbase; their fanmily. They do their best to reach out to as many of us as possible, lifting us up in times of pain, and inspiring us to be gracious, forgiving, and kind people( but also know how to have a good time too!) With all of that said I knew i had to see them in person, and thats were the most epic day ever started! With the help of songkick i was alerted that my favorite band was coming to town! With a little persuading my mom agreed to endure the long day that was ahead of me and my sister. We got to the venue at about 10 am, yes i know what you are thinking 10 am for a 7pm concert!? The thing is general admission makes people do crazy things! Anyways while waiting in line my sister and I ended up meeting two great girls names Sam and Jenna. We became friends instantly and spent the whole day together bonding over, you guessed it, the importance of kale... Just kidding it was The Wanted. After 9 hours of standing outside in the grueling heat and dealing with security it was time to head inside. Ahhhhhhhh! When we got inside my whole demeanor changed. I went from being tired and cranky to being wowed and overwhelmed by this calming feeling. It was like i belonged there. I ran up to the stage and crammed my way into the third row. The waiting was finally over. Those five men that have shaped the last 2 years of my life were finally going to be standing right in front of me. The lights dimmed and the drummer played this sick intro which shook me to my core. There is no better feeling than being surrounded by the sound of music. Its like looking through rose colored glasses. You see the world in a different perspective. Next thing i knew The Wanted were in front of me. It was like slow motion. I could feel myself screaming but all i could hear was the beautiful melodies and harmonies of the boys. I was overwhelmed with happiness and euphoria. Through the whole concert i was screaming the lyrics of the songs i knew by heart at the top of my lungs. I couldn't stop smiling! Not only are The Wanted good at engaging their fans online but also live. Throughout the whole show they were blowing kisses, waving, making hearts with their hands, and winking at the crowd. They also would take video and pictures if you threw there phone up to them! How cool is that!? The Wanted know how to have fun and they showed that by spraying the crowd with water at the end of the show! We the stage lights finally dimmed and they exited the staged i was moved. I could not just believe what just happened! What i didn't know was my experience was not over. After the concert The Wanted greeted the fans! I had the pleasure of talking with some of the band members, taking pictures with them, and getting autographs. You could just tell how much they appreciate they people that love them the most, and that great feeling; knowing that they care about you as much as you care about them. All in all seeing The Wanted live was one of the best decisions of my life. Not only did they project an unexplainable energy to the crowd during the performance, they also made me feel appreciated, and you can't say that about a lot of artists. I would highly recommend seeing The Wanted live, you will feel something you have never felt before, trust me i know :)

  • If you think The Wanted is a hits making band made specifically for the radio, you are half wrong on that. Their album is made out of summer hits, the perfect songs for a club night in Miami. But in every tour, they prove themselves as solid artists on stage as well. Vocals on point, setlists that make the show flow naturally, and cheeky conversation with fans during the entire performance expose their ability to play live. There's always a new surprise - from Coldplay covers with guitars and jaw dropping harmonies to serenading fans during "Heart Vacancy" -, these boys keep showing what they're made for. With a hint of personal songwriting, they make the songs sound even better on stage as they did on record. The screaming audience can agree with me on that. Every crowd is different but always leave saying the same: "wow". From pop radio artists to full on performers, these guys impressed me with every note. I hope this hiatus doesn't change their mind on "banding", because if they're doing something right in their careers, that is performing.
