• Moon Taxi

  I had high expectations of Moon Taxi ahead of the show. A friend of mine is fanatic with them and would not stop talking them up for weeks leading up to it. The venue, Crescent Ballroom, is among the best in the greater Phoenix metropolitan area. Although I have experienced issues with the sound on occasion, and despite the fact that it was an all-ages show, the band surpassed my highest expectations.

  There were only a handful of songs that I knew I wanted to see, so I was in-and-out of the main stage area throughout the evening. While the band draws sellout crowds back East and even in Hollywood, they were unable to fill even such a moderately sized venue as Crescent Ballroom. There was plenty of standing room. I actually enjoyed the extra space, as it is hard to come by at most events at Crescent.

  The sound was excellent. The instrumentation was tight. The band was comfortable and put on a great show; granted it was their last show in a string of West Coast gigs. And apparently, even their lighting guy has a reputation. Which he lived up to as well.

  And as if I wasn't impressed enough already, the band finished their set with two encore covers! You might be thinking, "How would that be more impressive in any way?" Well, it was Rage Against the Machine that they covered, and covered it really well. "Killing In The Name" was definitely the highlight of my, and much of the crowd's, night.

• Moon Taxi is an American indie-progressive rock band who hail from Nashville in Tennesse. This band have been around for about eight years writing catchy pop songs that have the characteristics of indie songs with the choppy guitars the blankets of synthesizers, and the gravelly dulcet tones of Trevor Terndrup’s vocals. This first song “Southern Trance” sets the scene for what is going to be a fantastic and lively set. Mid way through their set I realize that they sort of remind me of a more underground Kings of Leon. “Common Ground”, is the mid tempo track that is led by the electric guitar and the synthesizer playing a riff simultaneously, the audience even reciprocate joining in with this catchy hook.

  It’s fantastic that they play songs from their latest release, an album called “Mountains Beaches Cities”. Which endorses a fresh sounding indie rock, that this audience really get behind, especially songs such as “River Water” and “Morocco”

• So good!!!!! Better than seeing them on The Farm at Roo! Cannot wait to see them again!! Their popularity is only going to increase especially with the release of their new album soon. Along with playing songs from their new album they played a few bold covers and absolutely nailed them! Their rendition of FAME is my favorite so far!!! There was so much pure & genuine energy as they played, which made for an awesome dance party!

  I hope they make it to ROO again in 2016, I'd love to see them do more of their upcoming album; it was more rock and roll than their previous albums. & they do rock and roll quite well!

• Moon Taxi was better than I ever could have imagined. A huge acknowledgement to the lighting team because the effects were FANTASTIC. The band gave off so much energy as they performed and the crowd was really taking it all in. I was front row for the sold-out show, so I have no idea how packed the venue actually became. The opening band The New Review was also wonderful and I really hope to see them again on their own tour hopefully. If all Moon Taxi shows are like this, I would see them a thousand more times. The feeling that the show gave me from start to finish was absolutely unreal and I'm so glad I went!

• Moon Taxi was incredible!

  They sound amazing live and they are overall, a very talented band. Moon Taxi's travel-themed music with a touch of gentle positivity definitely pleases the ears of all types of listeners. The crowd was a very diverse group of people. From young college kids to older women, the whole audience was totally into it by the end of the concert. Moon Taxi was great. I would definitely want to see them again if they came back to Washington.

• Their show at the Tuscaloosa Bicentennial Bash was awesome. I was right down front where Trevor stepped down to give a pick to the younger boy I'd been dancing around with all night up front. It was a blast and I absolutely loved getting to hear more of Moon Taxi's music. I've become a fan, thanks guys.

• Awesome the seating at Tennessee theatre was lame and you weren't allowed to stand in middle but awesome show moon taxi was amazing. First band was good too. Would defiantly see moon taxi again I don't know about at the theatre tho

• Another awesome performance by Moon Taxi. They played a mix of new and old song as well as a few sing alongs by other artists. They did not disappoint. Hope to see them again soon.

• Amazing concert! Not too crazy but fun atmosphere. The Weeks were a great opening for Moon Taxi and Moon Taxi sounds exactly the same in person. 10 out of 10.
