Kim Wilde (born November 18, 1960) is a British pop singer-songwriter, author and television personality, hailing from Chiswick, Middlesex, UK.
Born Kim Smith, the daughter of the Vernons Girls’ Reginald Smith or Marty Wilde, Kim Wilde completed a foundation course at St Albans College of Art & Design before signing with RAK Records in 1980. The singer’s debut single “Kids in America” arrived a year later in 1981 and earned Wilde instant success. “Kids in America” debuted at No. Two on the UK’s Singles Chart and reached the Top Five in a host of other countries including France, Germany and Australia. The single paved the way for Wilde’s eponymous debut album, which peaked in the Top Three of the UK Albums Chart and spawned the further singles “Chequered Love” and “Water on Glass”.
Wilde’s 1982 album “Select” was another successful album, aided by the singles “Cambodia” and “View from a Bridge”, which both became chart-topping singles in France. The singer’s third album “Catch as Catch Can” was a comparative failure and Wilde subsequently left RAK Records and inked a deal with MCA in 1984.
The singer-songwriter’s debut for MCA arrived in 1984 entitled “Teases & Dares” and whilst it didn’t perform well in the UK, it earned a positive response and chart listing throughout the rest of Europe. Led by the single “Schoolgirl”, “Another Step” was issued in 1986, which spawned the surprise hit “You Keep Me Hangin’ On”. The reinvention of The Supremes classic hit became a No. Two single in both the UK and Australia, and in 1987 became a rare U.S. No. 1 Hit Single.
The success of the single propelled Wilde to popularity and her subsequent album “Close” spent close to eight months in the UK Albums chart. The release led to the singer opening for Michael Jackson on his Bad World Tour, and after the release of “Love Moves” in 1990, Wilde became the opening act for David Bowie on his European tour.
After collaborating with Rick Nowels to produce the album “Love Is” in 1992, and releasing her first compilation album “The Singles Collection 1981-1993”, Wilde embarked on an extensive world tour including gigs in Australia and Japan. The new millennium brought an ’80’s revival tour alongside Paul Young, The Human League and Howard Jones, and after signing a new record deal with EMI, Wilde released her 10th studio album “Never Say Never” in 2006. The singer-songwriter has subsequently released the albums “Come Out and Play” in 2010, “Snapshots” in 2011, and the Christmas themed “Wilde Winter Songbook” in 2013.

Her best-selling record, Close, came at the close of that decade, proving that her appeal spanned it from start to finish, although once the nineties swung around, her commercial viability had unmistakably begun to wane. In 2006, after an absence of almost a decade, she released the appropriately-titled Never Say Never, and has continued to record since, releasing her latest, the Christmas-themed Wilde Winter Wonderland, in 2013. She still performs live, too, and not just, as became notorious a couple of years ago, drunkenly on the train, either; that incident, though, might actually have been the spark for her to tour the UK late last December, with a trio of Christmas shows comprising her first shows in the country for thirty years. She’s making a couple of festival appearances this summer, too, marking a comeback to the live scene for one of Britain’s most successful pop exports.
This was a fantastic evening ! Lots of christmas favourites as well as classic Kim from the 80's. I loved how she came down into the audience, it was a really memorable experience.
Kim is clearly a really lovely person as well, the part where Holly from the audience got up and dance clearly had an effect on Kim and it was so great and part of what make live events really memorable.
I cant wait to see Kim live again, but I think this more intermit concert is defenitaly something she should carry on with, it was a great evening of great music and with it being acoustic could really hear how amazing her voice is.

The Wilde wild xmas show was a perfect name for it. From Carol Decker to the end of the night snow shower all of the artists were very entertaining. Carol decker only performed 3 or 4 songs but got the night of to a great start. After a short break on came Toyah who looked great and sounded wonderful during her set. The main reason everyone was at the show was the lady herself Kim Wilde. It was the first time i had seen her live and what a show it was. Great stage presence stunning voice and amazing back catalogue of hits made this a truly magical night. If you have not already go see this 80`s pop megastar.
To be honest I wasnt really expecting this to be that good, knowing it was acoustic and not her usual rock/pop stuff, but she was brilliant, she had some funny stories and lots of banter with Ricky and Scarlett.
She came down from the stage and walked round all the audience, it was a very memorable night and one to remember.
if you have never seen her live, I'd highly recommend going, she is doing a Greatest hits Tour at the back end of 2020, so could possibly be the last chance to see her live, but hopefully not.
Even tho she is 60 next year she has most definitely still got it 10/10
Amazing show. Kim was superb and sounded just as good if not better than before. All the hits were there as well as stuff from the new album all which were performed to perfection and with tons of energy. It was obvious Kim and the band were having a great time performing them. Awesome show. Hope Kim continues to perform like this for a while yet. If you were or are a fan go along. You won't be disappointed
I can absolutely say that the concert of Kim Wilde was amazing. The crowd and the vibe was great and just Kim and her band put up a fantastic performance. The 80s vibe made me feel nostalgic. I definitely reccomend everyone to go to her concert if you have the chance. 5 out of 5 stars from me.
Aawesome concert, made me feel young again... Kim's still got it...still beautiful, same awesome voice, full of energy, great band, great sound and her niece is a great backing singer...hope to see Kim in concert again in the future
She is absolutely Awesome and her Brother Ricky and let us not forget Scarlett ofcourse i have been to 3 of her concerts and i can't get enough ,i can't wait to see her november ,GOOOOOO WILDES!!!!!!
Absolutely OUTSTANDING , if you haven't bought tickets I would recommend you do.
Definitely a show not to miss, I've been to 2 shows looking to go to a 3rd.
