Biographie

  • The Steve Miller Band is an American blue rock/ country rock band from San Francisco, California, having transplanted from Madison, Wisconsin.

Vocalist and guitarist, Steve Miller moved to Chicago in 1965 to play the blues scene with Barry Goldberg, and together they formed the Goldberg-Miller Blues Band. The band got a record contract with Epic Records, however Miller decided to move to San Francisco for the psychedelic scene. He formed the Steve Miller band, and with the help of managing partner Harvey Kornspan, signed with Capitol Records. In February 1968 while in England, the band recorded their first album entitiled “Children of the Future.” The album did not fare so well, but their sophomore album “Sailor” climed to Number 24 on the Billboard charts. In 1973 the band, which had gone a radical lineup change, released “The Joker,” which left behind the psychedelic stylings for a more bluesy rock sound.

The band returned three years later with “Fly Like An Eagle” which charted to Number 3. A mere year later the band released “Book of Dreams” which had three singles that reached charting success. After serious touring and a few more album released, The Steve Miller Band released a greatest hits compilation in 1978, selling over 13 million copies. In 2010 the band released a cover album of blues and R&B songs entitled “Bingo!” In 2011 they released an album called “Let Your Hair Down” as a companion record to “Bingo!”

  • Steve Miller Band

Steve Miller Band, the six piece formed way back in 1966 and continue to thrill audiences globally with their classic sounding blues rock. Always considered psychedelic pioneers of their time, the band amassed a huge following during their heyday and some of those fans have come out this evening to see one of their old favourites. There are also younger fans who clearly appreciate Steve Miller Band's influence on modern day rock and blues.

The frontman himself is still as charismatic at 70 years of age and seems to simply ooze rock as he urges fans to take a trip down memory lane before unleashing favourites such as 'The Stake' and 'Take The Money and Run'. Despite having a large array of past members, the musicians seem to have great rapport onstage and this enjoyment is conveyed to the audience who enthusiastically cheer for not only the great classics but also the huge amounts of complex instrumentals.

A huge sing/sway-along to 'Jet Airliner' and 'Rock'n Me' closes a wonderful evening for both spectator and performer as everyone leaves the venue completely satisfied.

  • Steve MIller Band and Peter Frampton!

***** Five stars for Steve Miller band was great, classy guy great concert.

ZERO STARS for Peter Frampton, he was a complete jerk. While in the middle of his performance and doing a guitar solo, on the big screen a cameraman showed a shot of a lady holding up one of Peter Framptoms old album covers. The fans cheered. He was mad the camera operator because he was showing a shot of the audience instead of his guitar solo. (this isnt one of his crew its local people hired to do the video work) He flipped off the camera man, said F U and walked over and tried to wrestle the camera out of his hands. Peter lost the battle for the camera, but broke the camera in the struggle. Peter just walked off stage, saying nothing to the audience and didnt return for quite a while. Back stage he said he wouldnt return unless the big screen was turned off. He finally returned, but many in the front rows would not even applaud him after his little episode. If he comes to a town near you... skip it.

  • How awesome is it that Steve Miller is still shredding it and performing at 70 years old. And not only that, but he actually still sounds pretty good and can put on a show. I'm sure for most people seeing Steve Miller and the like is quite a nostalgic experience, but as a 20 year old you can only be brought back so far.

My friends and I saw Steve Miller Band with Journey and Tower of Power the other night at Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, Ca, and despite seeing only two other teenagers with the next closest people to our age being our friends' parents, we had a great time. Steve Miller has still got it, and you can tell he is performing because he loves it. A great set list is backed up with accompaniment from the other acts and the crowd, dancing and singing along almost non stop (somewhat of a feat for this crowd). A good time and a good show. Fair warning; you will be and certainly feel young going to this concert, pretty much no matter what age you are. Quite the experience though, and a good fun show.

  • I was lucky enough to get a free ticket from my aunt to go see Steve Miller Band. I am happy to say that this was one of the best live music experiences for me. I knew almost all of the songs that they played, and sung along to each of them. The show was at the ACL Moody Theatre in Austin, Texas. It was a very family friendly yet high energy show. I was close enough to the stage that I was able to get the set list from the band when they were finished. I still have it today! Not only did the band play all the hits, but some other great songs too. Steve Miller Band is a must see. If you ever get the chance to see them, I would strongly suggest you take the opportunity. Everyone should get to see them at least once in their life. I have grown up listening to Steve Miller Band, and it was a treat to get to see them live. The band is very appreciative to fans and they are great with crowds. The chemistry between the members of the band is fun to watch, and they are great at keeping up the act. These guys are legends!!

  • I last saw Miller after he released the album Bingo, so I have a frame of reference. The concert began on time with a rather weak opening act. After their set, it took at least 20-25 minutes before Miller took the stage. It took until about the fourth song for the sound system to be adjusted to correct some sound problems. He played for roughly 1 1/2 hours, not very long when you consider the opening act was unknown and the tickets ranged from $69-$79.00 each. I assume the tour is intended to celebrate his three hit '70s album (The Joker, Fly Like an Eagle and Book of Dreams). He only played four songs from other albums, and none off his last two blues releases. His current band is not near as powerful as the band he toured with after releasing Bingo. All in all, not a true expression of Miller's talent.

  • I've never been disappointed at a Steve Miller Band show . Now , at 72 years old and newly inducted into the Hall of Fame, he and his band are tight and as fun as ever.

For a Superfan like myself , I knew every song ( and nearly every lyric ) ... His catalog of songs is so vast ,even the b-sides and Old tracks brought back great memories and sounded fantastic.

If you haven't been to see The SpaceCowboy , do it!

  • I saw Steve Miller at Ford Auditorium in 1970-1973, not sure, about the date because those dates are pretty foggy. The band and performance were great. I went there with a friend that had a band in Ann Arbor and knew Steve Miller and got a an invite to a party at the airport Holiday Inn. Again, this time was foggy, but we hung out with Maurice for a while and probably had a blast.

  • The Steve Miller Band is a must see for classic rock and blues fans. Steve Miller is still amazing both vocally and on the guitar. This guy can play like no other. The 80 minute show was over way too fast as we could have danced and sang along for hours. The Steve Miller Band is a great show. Don't miss them if you have the opportunity.

  • You can't go wrong with this band. Still rock and perform so well after all these years. Keep on rocking me baby! Art Park is a good venue but you have to get there really early to get close to the stage. Cost of tickets very fair! If yours seats are far back there are two large video monitors to get the close up action.
