Biographie

  • Rob Zombie is an American musician, film director, screenwriter and film producer best known as a founding member of White Zombie.

Rob grew up in Haverhill, Massachusetts and had an obsession with horror films from a young age and stated that he always "wanted to be Alice Cooper, Steven Spielberg, Bela Lugosi, and Stan Lee". His parents worked in the carnival trade, so Rob had a taste of the eccentric from the very beginning however they decided to leave after a riot broke out in the tents one evening. Rob co-founded the band that would become known as White Zombie with his girlfriend at the time Sean Yseult. Zombie's music heavily draws influence from classic horror films and suspense films. He has listed Alice Cooper, KISS, Queen, and Elton John as some of his influences growing up.

White Zombie self released their first LP 'Soul-Crusher' in 1987 and followed this in 1989 with 'Make Them Die Slowly', neither release earned the band any commercial success. Undeterred, the band continued to record material and their first hit single came in the form of 'Thunder Kiss '65' which was featured on popular MTV show 'Beavis & Butt-head'. Their next album 'La Sexorcisto: Devil Music, Vol.1' was a commercial success in both the US and Canada and has now sold over two million copies. White Zombie ended on a high with their final album 'Astro-Creep: 2000 – Songs of Love, Destruction and Other Synthetic Delusions of the Electric Head' which charted within the top 10 of the US album charts.

Rob had already begun writing solo material before the band's break up and his LP 'Hellbilly Deluxe: 13 Tales Of Cadaverous Cavorting Inside The Spookshow International' was released in 1998. It was a commercial hit, peaking at number 5 on the Billboard 200 with first week sales of 121,000 overshadowing any of White Zombie's previous releases. All five of Rob's solo efforts have charted top 10 in the States and three are certified gold selling. Rob has pursued a number of other media outlets over his career, he has done voice over work in films including 'Slither', 'Super' and 'Guardians Of The Galaxy' and has directed 'Halloween' and 'The Lord Of Salem'.

A Rob Zombie concert isn’t just about the music, it’s about the presentation! RZ puts on a SHOW! In the past there have been pyrotechnics and giant video monitors.

I’ve seen RZ 10 times total and no show has ever disappointed. He is just as awesome outdoors at Rock on the Range in Columbus, OH in front of 30,000 as indoors in Sioux City, IA at a much smaller indoor venue. Shows vary, depending on RZ’s current album.

Obviously the songs changed from MARS NEEDS WOMEN when VENOMOUS RAT came out. I loved the JESUS FRANKENSTEIN opening a couple years ago, but TEENAGED NOSFERATU explodes when RZ has opened his shows in 2013. The only downside is RZ can’t play ALL of the songs you love. Hits like SUPERBEAST, DRAGULA, LIVING DEAD GIRL, MORE HUMAN THAN HUMAN, PUSSY LIQUOR, THUNDER KISS ’65, NEVER GONNA STOP, MEET THE CREEPER and SICK BUBBLEGUM are played at every concert. Most recently TEENAGED NOSFERATU, WE’RE AN AMERICAN BAND, and DEAD CITY RADIO have been making the cut.

The showmanship is awesome to behold. RZ dances around, taunts his robots, shoots fire bursts into the air and enters the audience. Even if you know he’s coming RZ manages to just appear among his fans. Just try and keep up and snap his picture. Guitarist JOHN 5 and Bassist PIGGY D are electrifying in their makeup and costumes and are two of the sweetest guys in metal. I saw them interact with fans at the RZ tent in Chicago last year and you could not ask for more fan friendly band members.

I got the chance to meet RZ and the band and have my photo taken with them at the Sioux City show last November. SO worth it if you get the opportunity. RZ concerts are always high energy. I love RZ! My absolute favorite show was the TWINS OF EVIL tour he did with MARYLIN MANSON. I wish they would do that again. You need to experience ROB ZOMBIE!

  • Write your review of Rob Zombie here... I'm a huge fan of Rob Zombie's live performances. I've been fortunate enough to see Mr Zombie numerous times on many different stages. This show at the City National Civic in San Jose was a great show! The show started with Rob Zombie's drummer Gingerfish as the opening act DJ. He spun a variety of non traditional records from The Ramone's "Sedated" to Motley Crues "Live Wire" while parading around in a robe as if he were a Tom Cruise sliding across the floor to. Bob Segar's "old time rock n roll". Something I've never seen before at a show and I've been to a lot. Zombie and crew came out swinging as usual. I was happy to see them in full costume. The bands energy level was up high and on mark. He did all the classics like "living dead girl", "Dragula", "superbeast" and the White Zombie staples "Thunderkiss 65" and "More Human than Human". I only wish he would add back "super charger Heaven" which is one of the best guitar intro's ever made. The stage lighting is fantastic. Rob is a showman who feeds off the energy of his crowd and he was on full throttle last night. John 5 is a phenomenal guitar player who was flawless as he was shredding through the catalogue of songs. If you haven't seem him you should. They are one of the premier acts to see live. A very unique experience. It's always nice to see him indoors like at the City National Civic. I just feel it is a better platform for the type of show they do. I highly recommend the experience. He's a perfectionist who takes pride in his craft.

  • Rob Zombie should I say more! He always puts a great show to work, he entertains everyone with his awesome singing and kick ass venues. They couldn't have picked a better place for the tribute to Johnny and Tommy Ramone. Hollywood all star cemetery. First time going there and it was stupendous! Bravo to everyone who played also and sang the Ramones songs. I can't believe Billy Idol was one of the few singers that also sang for the Ramones tribute pure epicness. Special Guest Johnny Depp was there also! It was a great experience, it really captured a sense of tribute, seeing how many people support the old school band it will always live on. Rob Zombie hosted an excellent show and I can't wait to see him once again to rock out to all his songs. Rob Zombie is one hell of an artist , every show is just one epic night.

  • The show at the Rave/Eagle's Club in Milwaukee was the best concert I've ever been to! He played for an hour and a half and kept leaving and coming back on stage with new costumes. He played all great songs and kept the crowd going. Girls were flashing and taking off their clothes! At one point a girl threw her bra on stage and the guitarist wore it on his head for a little bit. Rob Zombie also let the crowd carry him for a bit! It was epic! There was tons of crowd surfing, head banging, and just all around a good time! Don't miss out on an opportunity to see these guys EVER!

  • Rob Zombie killed yet another show last night. Every time I see his show it is a that my voice will be gone. What make his concerts even better for me is taking my son to his shows. I think he was hooked the from the start of his very first zombie concert. Pop Evil did a great job warming up the crowd, and Disturbed put on such a great concert, but there is a good reason I have been a Zombie fan since 1992. Rob Zombie has to be on of the great live concert performers of all time. If you haven't had a chance to see him perform treat yourself to a great show.

  • Saw Rob Zombie at Hellfest 2014 and that was a treat. When you find it on the internet, they have a 29min. clip of the performance and you're only seeing half of his show. I genuinely enjoyed the performance because he was funny, entertaining (dancing around, cracking jokes, walking the barriers), and the music was amazing. Combine the rest of the band who are stars in their own right and you have a show I was disappointed wasn't one of the headliners \m/

  • I had tickets 3 other times to see Rob since 1994. Something always happened and I didn't get to the shows. Unfortunately he didn't live up to my expectations. His vocals were not great and the guitarist seemed a little off as well. THe stage show and videos were good. He was not bad but he wasn't as good as expected, and playing after Korn had a killer show just made him look worse. 22 years of waiting and all I can do is :(

  • Rob Zombie I'm pretty sure has reached the point beyond legendary. His fans are some of the most loyal fans you will ever see. Yes, Zombie is getting older but he still puts on a heck of a show. But because he is getting older, he cannot sing like he used too. Now he sort of speaks the words to the songs and the fans do the rest. But no matter what happens at one of his shows, it is still a beyond legendary performance.
