  Winning one Grammy must be phenomenal, winning seven Grammys must be simply out of this world, and an absolute dream to most people, but not for Carlos Vives. Seven time Latin Grammy Award winner, Vives has been consistently winning these awards since back in 2000. I wasn’t familiar with his music, until I heard Tengo Fe from a friend, and after learning about his success, I was compelled to listen to more music. I must say, I wasn’t let down or disappointed with what I heard one bit. The Columbian singer has a quality to his voice that is simply mesmerising, and his catch songs made me an immediate fan.

  I heard that he was back touring, and managed to get hold of some tickets not too far away. Since being cast in the Columbian TV show Escalona, he hasn’t been touring as much, however, with lots of new songs ready for performance, I was excited about this show. As soon as he appeared on stage, you could tell he was a Grammy winner, his confidence, appearance, and the way he greeted the audience showed gratitude and experience. He played his way through Volvi a Nacer backed by his incredible Latin American authentic band, hitting every high note without fail, and dancing around the stage to encourage the audience to participate.

  His new tracks were just as good as the old, and his conviction to the performance showed that he’s really content with the new material. It was a real honour to be one of the first audiences to hear these tracks live.

• Carlos Vives is a Columbian singer-songwriter, who makes huge music which is literally vast, and atmospheric in places. It’s fantastic that he shows off this side of his music live. When everything kicks in, the music is an upbeat and Latin pop kind of sound. “Como Le Gusta A Tu Cuerpo” is the huge opening song that just puts this whole audience in a party mood, ready to have a good time for the next hour and a half. Straight away I have to acknowledge the diction that Vives has when he sings, along with all of his backing singers in tow. His band make such an incredible sound. There is something ever so “Lion King” or Paul Simon’s “Graceland” about his music, with catchy hooks from sustained woodwind instruments accompanied by an array of percussion. One of the things I love about Vives is that he absolutely loves what he does and smiles all the way through this set, of course just making everyone watching smile! “La Tierra Del Olvido” is the extended version of the song, such a fantastic carnival atmosphere! No wonder this guy won a Grammy Award!

• Colombian born Carlos Vives is a Latin legend and South American icon. Seeing him perform live is a once in a lifetime experience, after all the singing sensation is seven time Grammy winner. Not exactly a small feat. His success is evident from his stage presence alone: he is extremely confident on stage, has a natural poise and ease about him and has a brilliant connection with the audience, who all love him. Carlos Vives’s music is upbeat and fun and one does not even need to understand Spanish (although admittedly this is a bonus) to really appreciate his music. His classic song ‘Como Le Gusta A Tu Cuerpo’ opened the show to great success and really got the audience going and feeling as if we were all at a massive fiesta. ‘Tengo Fe’, ‘Volvi a Nacer’, ‘La Foto de Los Dos’ and ‘Bailar Contigo’ were all met to massive applause and were a few of the highlights of the evening. Carlos Vives’s voice was on form all night and his tunes were catchy and had the whole audience singing along.

• The concert was amazing, he is the first artist in a concert that does not take a rest, he kept singing for the two hours of concert.

  His energy is unbelievable and played different songs from his classic to the new ones.

  I was not keen on the venue of O2 Brixton, since the chairs are too small to dance and is hard to see the stage from them.

• It was absolutely amazing!! We knew all the songs, he is such a great singer and so charismatic. The show was great, all the lighting effects, the singers and back up people. The venue was really nice, spacious enough, every seat was a good seat. I would definitely recommend his concert! VIVA COLOMBIA!!!

• Excelente como siempre, tiene en el bolsillo a todo el Ecuador. Aunque llovió mucho ese día no importo porque valió la pena. aunque faltaron muchas canciones del nuevo disco del cual se desprende la gira, el repertorio es tan grande que siempre serán buenas canciones las elegidas.

• It was an amazing show. Full of energy and only good songs. He is really powerful putting everybody to sing even Lauder than himself.

  I would definitely go to one of his concerts again.
