Biografía

  • The Temper Trap is an Australian indie rock/ pop band from Melbourne, Victoria. The core members are Dougy Mandagi, Jonathon Aheme, Toby Dundas and Joseph Greer.

The Temper Trap was formed in 2005 when Mandagi, who was already teaching Aherne to play guitar, met Dundas and the three of them formed a band with Mandagi on vocals and lead guitar, Dundas on drums and Aherne on bass. They had auditioned a number of guitarists and eventually settled on Dundas’ former college roommate, Lorenzo Sillitto. In 2006 the group signed with Liberation Music and released their first EP entitled “The Temper Trap,” which was well received; additionally their live performances garnered a lot of praise.

While recording their second album “Conditions” the band traveled to the UK and gained more attention, leading to their signing with Infectious Records for European release. Additionally they traveled to the United States where they played a few gigs and were signed by Glassnote Records for US release. “Conditions” was released in 2009 led off by the single “Sweet Disposition” which reached three times platinum in their home of Australia, platinum in the UK and gold in the US. Throughout 2010 The Temper Trap set out on tour across Europe, including appearances at various summer music festivals such as Reading & Leeds, Glastonbury, V Festival and Roskilde Festival. Towards the end of the year they toured the United States and won the Best Group award at the 2010 ARIA Music Awards.

Throughout early 2012 the band extensively toured the United States, the UK and Australia and made numerous appearances at festivals worldwide. In addition they also released their sophomore album, “The Temper Trap” led off by the single “Need Your Love.” In October 2013 it was announced that Sillitto parted ways with the band and was replaced by Joseph Greer.

  • The Temper Trap

Seeing The Temper Trap at Williamsburg Music Hall in Brooklyn definitely made for a night worth remembering. I've lived on the planet for a while, I'm about the same age as the musicians themselves and as a music lover I've seen a ton of great concerts during my lifetime. Most of my concert going career, tickets were purchased through Ticketmaster and big name shows from Radiohead to Sade could be seen for 25 to $40. Now with prices being so much higher I only splurge if I really love the band as opposes to like them. This band not only makes great music but their generous, loving and inspiring spirit really shines in their live performances. First, Dougy has an amazing and unique voice. All the members have rock star quality and charisma and really know how to charm and audience. These guys are humble yet fierce and ultimately most importantly they are inspiring. They have a great time making and sharing music and it shows and it's contagious. Dougy ended the encore set by coming down into the crowd and singing Sweet Disposition while in the midst of the adoration of the crowd. I actually was able to touch him and send him "thank you" vibes as he sang only inches from us. It was AMAZING and a very special moment for everyone in the house! Go see these guys and check out their music on Spotify. They played a bunch of new stuff too which I can't wait to hear again when their next album comes out. I feel really lucky to have been there - front and center!

  • The Temper Trap was really good live when I saw them in Sydney last year. Their performance was an ideal concert experience.

They sang many of their well-known songs, including Sweet Disposition, which is my personal favorite. The band actually ended with this number as a second encore and I think that the song ended the concert off perfectly. It was a song everyone knew, both fans and audience members who were just there for a good show.

Their energy coming on stage was unlike any other. This performance reminded me of one from the 70s or 80s and had a very Woodstock, hipsterish feel, from the music to the way the band was dressed. There are many instruments involved in their concerts, which give plenty of energy – although the stage was a little small for a performance stage, so with that many instruments they were very close together and squashed throughout the entire show.

The long intro on Sweet Disposition was a great way to just take everything in and remember everything I had just seen during the performance. My favorite part of the entire concert is that second verse of Sweet Disposition because the band got really energetic and seemed most passionate at that moment. However, the entire show was amazing.

The concert was standing room only and stage was raised so I could see everything really well. There was a good number of people there, but it wasn’t too crowded, it just added to the great energy.

  • Saw them for the first time at the O2 Institute basement, the small space combined with great performance was perfect. Dougys vocals are amazing and sometimes haunting live, even the songs I'm not familiar with were highly enjoyable at the gig. In short, everything sounded better than recording. Would definitely see them again!

  • From the opener to the encore, this show had me on my toes and smiling the whole time. The Temper Trap played a wide variety of their music, and worked off of the young, enthusiastic crowed and truly pleased the crowd. The finale was incredible, and the emotions were high at this show.

  • The two first openers was horrible was like I wanna sleep but when the temper trap comes to the stage I did forget everything I think some of the microphones didn't work really well but after that everything was perfect.

  • They played a lot of slow songs that everyone loved. Sweet Disposition was played at the end and I loved how they performed it so much that I cried. They were interacting with the audience and engaged their crowd.

  • Great show, atmosphere and fast bar service. Only thing I can comment on is the venue opened the doors late on arrival and the supporting act came on slightly late. But this didnt tarnish my experiance

  • started way too late, half an hour after the warm-up group has finished, at 21:30 (instead of 20:30)

The acoustics were bad as well, and the light was a bit too dimmed and we barely could see the band

  • Fantastic show at the Sheperds Bush Empire. First time I've seen the guys live and they were a blast. Lots of the new and plenty of the classics too. Go see'em if you get the chance.

  • Het was een erg goed optreden.

Zanger was goed bij stem en de sfeer was goed.

Alleen waren er wat luidruchtige mensen en dat was tijdens de wat gevoeligere songs niet zo fijn.
