• I think I just found a new favorite band, Glass Candy out of Oregon. Won tickets to their show last night and took some friends along for a laugh but ended up having a stellar time. The restaurant we planned on eating at beforehand somehow lost our reservation so we grabbed a quick bite elsewhere and headed to the show a bit early.

  We got a few drinks and had a look around at the crowd, which were a little younger than us. Usually a sign for our bunch that we’ll probably not be too into whatever it is. Well, we were wrong on that count. As soon as the lights went down and we heard Ida No’s unique and amazing voice, we were hooked. She sounds like she stepped out of the height of the New Wave, a mixture of Debby Harry and Siouxsie Sioux. And gorgeous, too!

  The music was very reminiscent of the best of the aforementioned genre with synths galore and a driving danceable beat that had me on my feet instantly and kept me there all night. Remember the crowd I mentioned earlier? That was a bit young? Young they may have been but they were a blast to enjoy this show with, one of the most friendly and energetic audiences I have ever seen. All in all, it was a fantastic night for a new discovery.
