• Covenant

  Covenant is consistently elegant and amazing. I caught 3 of the 5 US shows on the mini-Fieldworks tour (I know the band aims for a fuller US tour in 2020). Eskil Simonsson's voice is so rich and beautiful, and the band has a deep discography to draw from - and that they do, mixing up setlists quite impressively from show to show and tour to tour. The Fieldworks tours (US and, previously, Germany) feature moody field recordings to start each show. Off the 2019 Fieldworks EP, tracks performed were "All That is Solid Melts Into Air" (highly recommend!) and "Das Nibelungenlied". In addition to throbbing dancefloor anthems like "Call the Ships to Port" and "Like Tears in the Rain", I particularly loved hearing "Flux" (which I think works even better live, "Atom Heart" (really lovely), "Edge of Dawn" (debut album!), and "Happy Man" a capella - the aforementioned beautiful voice all on its own! A few of the best songs from The Blinding Dark album made welcome appearances: "Dies Irae" and "I Close My Eyes." Check out setlist.fm for setlists from each show. • In the early 90s, Covenant, a Swedish born band consisting of Eskil Simonsson, Joakim Montellius and touring members Andreas Catjar and Daniel Jonasson, hit the electronic pop world. Their live shows are quite an experience.

  The show starts with an elaborate stage set up with all the instruments sitting on the stage surrounding the mixing table, complete with Eskil already manning the table. He single handedly starts the show, which includes massive amounts of flashing lights, smoke and the actual track. This does the proper job of getting the crowd excited and participating with excitement. As the pace picks up, Joakim, Andreas and Daniel walk on to the stage, pick up their instruments and join in, driving the audience absolutely mental. All of the production, like the flashing colored lights and the constant smoke screen, that goes into the show transports you back to the top of the 80s synth pop heyday.

  As you stand there and watch the band, you are completely overwhelmed with the urge to dance. And then you realize that everyone else already is, so you join in and have a lot of fun making a complete fool of yourself. By the time the show is over, you don’t want to leave because you want to continue listening to the awesomeness that is Covenant.

• I arrived late due to traffic to see Covenant at The Haunt in Brighton so missed most of support Empathy Tests set however I've seen them before and are fantastic live .I like them so much im seeing them again next week.The second support band Massive Ego I didn't know much about. Front man Mark Massive engaged with the crowd well when a technical fault reared it's head early into the performance. Problem fixed and this was soon forgotten. They have some great songs and would definitely see them again.This was my first time seeing Covenant live so was excited and expected an amazing show.I was not disappointed and they had the crowd jumping from the outset.They sang songs new and old including some of my favourites ,Call the ships to port,Dead stars and Lightbringer with a lightshow to match their performance. I would definitely recommend putting Covenant on your must see list.

• Great show that included lots of old hits but also 3 new songs from the new album "The blinding dark". Eskil was in a great mood tonight and jumped around like he did when he was younger ;-) The only thing that did not work that well was the lightshow and Eskil tried to communicate several time with the lightguy to fix it. It became better at the end, but in the beginning of the show it was dark as a black hole on stage and only the static lights and the smokemachine was working.

• I've been wanting to see Covenant since the early 2000's. They delivered a powerful experience, and performed exactly as in their records, sound was powerful and clear. They played a bit of everything, plus their all time classics. Be sure to stay for the encore :)

  The opening band, Empathy Test, was a super pleasant surprise. The small venue gave a closer experience with the band.

• It was an amazing gig I really enjoyed it. The atmosphere was great. The warm up acts weren't really to my taste excpet one which was incredible, Unfortunately I didn't catch the name of that band. Then the main event was brilliant. I would definitely go see them again and would recommend the gig.

• Veterans on the scene, and it shows. Great stage presence, played good old songs along with some new ones. A few technical issues at the venue which they handled with ease. Definitely got the room moving.

• Covenant in Portland was great. Mixed setlist of old and new favs. Wish I could say the same for the venue, the Star Theater. Seriously disappointing audio/technical issues. Good crowd though.

• The show was quite intimate. It was such an experience. I enjoyed every minute of it, truely. The entirety of the band were down to earth as well. I do hope they come back to NOLA soon.

• It was a great Show in Erfurt - felt like a big Party. Playlist was perfect! (mix between old songs and new Album) Had a good time dancing and singing...me made ritual noise :)
